Accidentally found this place just off the main street in Market Harborough. Really good atmosphere in this café/restaurant with caring helpful staff. Good drink and food menu. Order at the 'bar' style with delivery to the selected table. Welcome, no dog policy, except guide dogs of course. Plenty of space for anyone with access difficulties. Excellent bathroom facilities. All round a great experience.

Called in for an early lunch just after they finished serving breakfast. We read the menu and I decided I only wanted a light lunch and as I was considering my choice one of the staff passed and said that the soup was winter vegetable. I went to order at the counter and the member of staff looked confused when I ordered soup saying they hadn’t got any soup on. I explained that I had just spoken to a member of staff who’d told everyone it was winter vegetable. She checked with a colleague who again looked confused and confirmed they hadn’t got soup on. I pointed to a notice right at the front of the bar advertising winter vegetable soup as being the soup of the day.

My wife and I had a meal here today we hadn't had a meal at Enigma for a while but decided to have a treat the last meal we had was excellent with excellent waiting and bar staff so we thought we would see what it's like today we was greated by Cheryl who served us she is very kind and polite person who as worked at Enigma for many years any way I had my favourite curry chicken massaman it was superb with a lovely aroma to it just like the curry I had there last time we are very pleased to see that the standards hadn't dropped off from the last time we eaten there we would highly recommend this eating house they also do a brilliant carvery on a Sunday but you do need to book we would like to thank the staff at Enigma for making this a very positive experience and extra thanks to Cheryl and Enigma chef for your expertise thank you.

Went to enigma today for a carvery. We haven’t been for a while but service and food was absolutely spot on ! Really enjoyed our meal and will be back again soon !

Great Thai food. Really tasty and authentic friendly staff and nice beer. Decor is a bit dated/basic but who cares, we'll be back again soon.

Had lunch with a friend. I had the brunch. 1 piece of bacon, scrambled egg made with 1 egg, 1 hash brown, 1 sausage, beans, around 10 chips. The food was hot and nice but not very much of anything. I’m not a big eater but was left hungry and at almost £10 was not in my opinion value for money. Staff were nice, professional and warm.

Second Thai meal we have enjoyed here. I had a chicken chow mein, hubby had chicken green curry. Both meals had choice of veg, chicken, prawn or beef. Large, delicious portions. 😋 Excellent service as always. Our favorite cafe/restaurant in Market Harborough. We come here for breakfast at least twice a week.

This is an amazing venue for a private party. The atmosphere and the staff were brilliant. I would def recommend as a place to hire. We had a disco,food and about 120 people. It was fantastic.

The takeaway breakfasts are brilliant. Sunday lunch is really delicious and the staff are always friendly. I couldn’t recommend Enigma more.

Hi my wife and I went to enigma for breakfast on the 19 October good portions quality produce every hot and tasty excellent service excellent value well done to all at enigma your breakfasts are as good as your Sunday carvery first class well done.

Have eaten here many times and have always enjoyed the food, staff friendly and service excellent. I had two Enigma loyalty cards , one full of 12 stamps and the other was nearly full. I tried to use one of these cards against a meal today but was told that they now used different cards and my old cards were invalid. My friend and I live 30 miles apart and could not use these cards during the lockdown, we have only just started meeting again. We were allowed 5 stamps on the new card today in compensation, however our visit today would have generated 2, so in effect we were only given 3 stamps back out of the 20 we lost off the old cards. It’s not the small amount of money we would have saved, its the principle and disappointing that our past custom and loyalty is not valued.

The food is ok. The environment is basic and functional. One of the girls serving was lovely, the other (older one) has a really bad attitude. I will encourage people not to eat there because of it.

Breakfast excellent, service excellent but a bit expensive for a small breakfast. Jumping on the covid cash cow perhaps?

The recent recent refurbishment of our favourite town eatery is fresh and attractive. There is plenty of space between tables, and Covid protocol is rigorously applied. The menu is really exceptional. In most places that try to cater to all tastes something has to give.....usually the standard of the food or service. Emphatically not the case at Enigma. Paninis, traditional English food, light bites.....and the best Thai food that we have had outside of Thailand. That may sound bizarre, but it’s undeniably true! Service is delightful with the ebullient Cheryl, and Tina fronting house. It’s so nice to walk into a place and be recognised and it is the personal touch that I observe so many of the regulars appreciate. Thank you for another gorgeous meal yesterday, and see you next week!

Went into Enigma Cafe/Bar for a pre-booked lunch, the service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the drinks were lovely. Social distancing was adhered to, all the staff wore face shields, the staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back

This place has long been my favourite in Harborough for Thai food. It was closed due to Covid for a long time but recently re-opened, since when we've already been twice.Very pleased to say that the legendary friendly staff and first class food, right across the Thai and English menus are just as they previously were. First class.The Covid regulations etc were well complied with and well organised. And the opportunity was taken during closure for redecoration and a bit of a facelift without losing any of the character of the place.Very pleased to see it's return.

Today my Dad died unexpectedly so I just wanted to go somewhere for a lunch and a beer without any issues. I came here and all staff were very polite right from being met at the door for Covid check in. Food was perfect and I felt it helped me today. Thankfully I was met with a kind smile and a lovely lady who did her job perfectly.

We went on the first day of reopening.Decor nice and the social distancing,gel,etc was very well organised. We only had tea and cake but menu is very varied. Staff very friendly ....as usual

This cafe is the heart of market harborough the staff there especially cheryl are lovely ,great food , we often go here a few times to meet up with friends and family . The food is awesome great breakie as a veggie myself well catered for

I ordered Sweet & Sour Crispy Chicken. which I was overcharged, the waitress said the menu was wrong. Then when the food came it was chicken balls instead of crispy chicken and very little sauce.

Today we tried Enigma for the fried Breakfast. Staff were friendly and very helpful on ordering. We very much enjoyed our meals and will visit again. Top Marks

Have been many times and always enjoyed visits. Great Service, great menu and great value for money. First Thai meal in here and very fresh and tasty . Obviously will be back and can confidently recommend as well.

Not been here for a while but went with friends yesterday. Staff friendly and helpful as ever. We all had Thai food. As good as ever and better than the two local Thai restaurants. Washed down with perfect Peroni . We shall all be back.

Visited here for breakfast following recommendations. Did not disappoint however, the sausages could be improved upon as they were fairly tasteless. Drinks were hot which is great as I hate cold coffee. Atmosphere was as you would expect for the time of day we visited.

Visited on many occasions but always stayed safe with my choices wrong . I have just had the lamb curry chefs special it was superb,my son had the red tai curry which was cooked absolutely brilliant. Service was brilliant as normal try this place you won’t be disappointed thanks for a great Saturday lunch

This is such a fab place, we come here all the time. Whether you're shopping around town and drop in for a coffee or for a family meal at lunchtime, it is brilliant. The staff, Cheryl in particular are simply lovely and remember names. The food is great, huge portions and always cooked really well. We're planning on coming here for an evening meal as they specialise in Thai cuisine which is one of our favourites. Love being local to this place and great for families with young children, always see kids in here which is fab. Highly recommend this place!

We had the Enigma breakfast for two priced at £9.95 for two so price is very reasonable. Sausages were low in meat content and bacon was very salty. Toast was delicious - really nice bread. Mushrooms were lovely and eggs were cooked as requested. Personally I would prefer a better quality banger.

Where to start ... it being a cafe/bar it got confusing where to be served 2nd thing it was uninviting . No hello's or nothing . Seems they only like there local people .I waited patiently and a young girl served me quite as a mouse I could not hear here till she got my attention 2nd time After i got served . I stood there like a plum . As she never said that they serve the drinks to table . You could of said I ordered a cod and chips and pea'sIt came out speedy . The fish was overcooked and hard as hell . Chips were mediocre . Peas ok . 4/10 I've tasted better in chippes to be fair..and paid 7.95 for the food The decor is nice but they need a plan of action on a the actual bar and cafe menu as you don't where to get served And can you people be a bit more warm welcome I get a better welcome in Wales I left and had no goodbye or thanks for coming . Like a say a local cafe for local people they don't like outsiders much be warned if you go in here And the wifi it was locked and no password board anywhere . Misleading much Bit of improvement and smile would be nice

The title says it all. Great freshly cooked breakfast with good 2 for 1 deal. Always well cooked and served with a smile. Highly recommended.

I called in with family and was really pleased and suprised to be offered complimentary tapas with my drink. Tom the managers hot sausage was to die for. I will definately be back. Great value. Great service.

Not the most inviting place, but once inside it was comfortable with friendly service. I opted for the chicken pad thai which was very tasty and good value. might visit again

We were going shopping and had breakfast first.It was delicious ,hot and freshly cooked.We did not wait long.We also had a big pot of tea. Staff very friendly

The breakfast was absolutely sodden in grease/oil.. Shame because the coffee is good!! Chef needs some training.. obviously you expect some oil/grease but seriously there was about quarter of a pint swimming around the plate...

Over a forty minute wait for breakfast (apparently breakfast is done in batches and there was a twenty five minute wait between them coming out). No apology for the wait, just told to come back tomorrow to see the manager. We won't be coming back.

Hadn't been to Harborough for a while but visited on the Classic car Sunday. The town was packed with visitors, food stalls etc, etc. We went to the Enigma for a nice sit down and refreshing drink. It's still as good, great, friendly staff and great place to relax. Always busy so it shows what people think of it. We love it!

Very extensive menu with reasonably priced food. Breakfasts are excellent as is the Pad Thai. That's all I have eaten there.

We stumbled on this place by chance, when our usual haunts were either closed for the Bank Holiday, or too busy. Returning to our car, we passed this, and I thought it was a typical cafe bar, and popped in on the off chance we could get a sandwich, only to find they have an extensive menu, from sandwiches to standard English dishes, to superbly fresh cooked Thai meals. There is also a good selection of Vegetarian meals. We each tried a different dish - Thai Red Curry with chicken, Chinese chicken curry, Massaman Lamb, and Thai Green Curry with vegetables. Oh, and a bacon and Brie panini with curly fries for the kid. We all tried some of each other’s meals, and the variation in spices was noticeable. All were beautifully prepared and well presented, and all were delicious. The chef is Thai, and definitely knows his stuff. We will definitely be returning there to try the many other dishes on offer. Prices were modest for decent portions. The staff were friendly and helpful.

This place is great It’s staff are so lovely and drinks reasonably priced from different coffees n home made cakes to a well stocked bar with good choice of beer cider n lager on tap But the real find here is the food no frills just honest decent local produce

Just used Enigma to have quick wifi use. Good coffee and biscuit stop whilst shopping Harborough. Great for meetings with friends. Live music Friday nights.

We visited Enigma on Tuesday am for breakfast. the staff are so friendly and helpful!! We run our own sandwich shop providing good quality food so have HIGH expectations and this place hit the mark. We cannot say how good value for money this is....

First ever visit to this Midlands town. Enigma serves delicious foods and caught a good rock group on a Friday night. I've heard they offer a complete English breakfast for a fair price.

My husband and I went here on Sunday more or less as it opened at 9am around 3 weeks ago it was brilliant staff were great and very friendly food was fresh hot and tasty.However the Sunday after arriving at the same time a hungover member of staff served us but still sort of friendly so we could deal with that food was 20 mins wait lukewarm and just to top it off bacon was was like leather made a joke by asking if the chef was in the same state as said staff but no it was just a different chef might need a few more months training before being let loose on the public I think.Anyway we gave the benefit of the doubt and put it down to 1 of those things so we went back again the following Sunday now wait for it.This was one of the most appalling services we have had. We ordered our coffees and breakfast order after being greeted with a grunt from an older chap who either didn t want to be there or should know better (not sure but got the impression it was either the owner or manager) anyway we got or coffees and waited and waited for our food which took 25 mins so ordered some more coffees to have with our food. When breakfast finally came it was thrown in front of us still waiting for coffees no sign and they weren t busy yet (as we go in early due to the fact we work from 3am til 3pm) coffees decided to turn up 20 mins after we had breakfast asking politely twice if we could have them. Needless to say we will not be going back not only did the food go down hill but so did the service no one likes to treated like a secondhand citizen or ignored especially when paying for a service.Don t get me wrong the value was great and we don t expect the world just a simple please, Thank you and the food to arrive in a reasonable time or do we expect too much ???

The staff were exceptionally accommodating and attentive. I was pleasantly surprised by the diverse menu, and thoroughly enjoyed the Thai platter. Enigma is perfect for meeting friends and having delicious snacks or a casual meal. I'll definitely be coming back, hopefully soon!

Quick and easy meals that are reasonably well cooked. Great place for catching up with friends! It's not Michelin star, I had lasagne and it was tasty! Apparently the breakfasts are a hit but I've yet to try them.

The staff are lovely and the locally sourced food is very good. Prices are fairly average for the town and the atmosphere is buzzing all day.

This is our usual place for coffee and cake on a Saturday afternoon trip to Market Harborough but just recently the selection of cakes has been poor and - even when they do have a nice round cake - the quality seems rather 'industrial' and not as home made as in the past.Prices are ok and there's plenty of space, usually newspapers around to read whilst you drink and the staff are pleasant.But the lack of cake choice knows we're now looking further afield.

Drinks here are well priced and the bar is very comfortable. There are also tribute nights every Saturday and a club upstairs for party animals.

Menu was not clear which meant ordering the wrong thing on menu even after asking the staff who were unclear on my order and even when rectified was not left satisfied. Disappointed

I went in for a coffee and a cake. Others were there for the beer. Either way, the staff could cope with both types of customer. Nice lively atmosphere and plenty of choice makes this a great place to call into for refreshment after some serious shopping.

Shopping trip to Harborough and fancied some breakfast. Two Enigma breakfasts for just under £8! Two,bacon,two eggs, two sausages,two hash browns,beans and two toast!Great friendly service, lovely clean tables and lovely cooked breakfasts!!

Threw the diet out the window today and went for lunch with the wife. Tried Enigma out as this time mini me was at nursery and we had a few hours ourselves. Peace and quiet. First time visiting the cafe/bar. Upon walking in one of the first things I notice was the amount of signs saying who can sit where. "This table is for 4 people only" "Don't sit here. Don't sit there" which is quite off putting. Find a table at the rear and sit down. After playing a game of "find the menu" we have a browse of what's avaliable. Good choice of traditional cafe food such as breakfasts, lunches and snacks such as sandwiches and also Thai Food.... Yes Thai food. I hear it is very nice. Ordered a All Day Brunch. Bacon, sausage, egg, hash brown, chips and beans. Bacon was very salty and sausages were very poor quality. But for £6.95 I was not expecting free range organic. Staff were very friendly and polite and food was served quickly. Now here is a first. I ordered a latte and when it arrived it came with a cocktail stirrer instead of a spoon. This is a cafe! Give me a spoon! Overall the place was OK. It is a popular place and is always busy and the food was average. Total cost of 2 lunches with one drink each £19 and god sake give people a spoon for there coffee!! Cheap and cheerful. Enjoy :-)

Was shopping and thought I would have a pot of tea. The pot held two cups and was hot and came with a little biscuit. Staff very friendly

I visit here quite often and most the time with my young daughter. They always deliver your tea/coffee to your table so you don't have to struggle with a pushchair and a drink. The food is always tasty and the portion sizes ample. The staff are very friendly and always offer service with a smile. Much better option than the sugar loaf.

My favourite place for a lunch in town.Enigma is always busy with families, or friends meeting for anything from a quick drink, to a full meal.The menu caters for all tastes, and the portion sizes are very generous.A relatively new addition is the inclusion of Thai food, as good as any restaurant, and extremely reasonable.The venue is licensed, so you may choose between soft drinks, exotic coffees, or alcohol.The service here is second to none, with a particular female member of staff showing how it should be done to the younger, but still excellent workers.I love this place, and judging from the number of familiar faces That I see each visit, it is clearly a favourite with many othe locals too.You absolutely must give it a try.

The Thai menu was recommended by a colleague, so some of us went after work. I haven't ventured into Enigma before as I have seen some right old sights coming out of it, but the Thai food was really good. Someone was trying out thumpy-thumpy bass music in their upstairs space, which was intrusive and irritating. It was a slightly odd atmosphere in the "dead time" between 5 and 7, but I would go back with friends. I wouldn't celebrate an anniversary there or anything. Thai sweet and sour crispy cod and a white wine spritzer was about £12.

I had a lovely breakfast here last month so i said to my parents why dont you join us sometime as the breakfast it wonderful...so over this bank holiday weekend we went...well what a disappointment...the 3 breakfast we ordered and toast..when they came to table all 3 breakfast where cool or cold...toast was like eating carpet...we shall not be returning to this place for a breakfast..we were the first there when it opened at 8.30am....think they need to look at how hot stuff is going out and not left waiting for someone to run it out to the customer. Also i noticed that the people behind the bar were also running food out...think they might need to look at that too..

I was so looking forward to not cooking our normal Saturday breakfast. But was left feeling so disappointed and wishing I had cooked breakfast. When we arrived there were only two staff working behind the bar. The staff were taking food orders and acting as waiters. Waited over 30 mins for our food to arrive. They forgot three of the items on one breakfast. Had requested a child's portion (2 year old), only to have an adult size meal arrive. No one explained that there would be a long wait and we were not asked if our meals were ok. Will not be going back.

We use Enigma regularly, particularly for their breakfast offer! The food is tasty, plentiful and there is a good variety on the menu. The staff are all very friendly and willing to help. The breakfast is enormous and really sets you up for the day, and the veggie sausages are yummy.I've also had the Pad Thai which is delicious, and have tried many of the other dishes from the menu. It's one of our favourite places to go in MH and I think this is particularly due to the staff who work there.

Enigma is a greet place to eat , meet friends over coffee ,good choice on menu , new Thai menu as well . While the food is great it could do with being served a little hotter and on hot plates , staff are pleasant and friendly

My friend and I went to Enigma for a coffee chat after the morning school run. This was my first time stepping foot in the place and I was impressed with the service and the food.. I decided to have a small breakfast and it was all but small! For under £4 I had a full plate of bacon, scrambled egg, grilled tomato, sausage, mushrooms, baked beans, hash brown and toast. I couldn't eat it all there was so much and the food was delicious. The service I couldn't fault but the only down side I felt was that I was extremely cold whilst sitting in there and we were nowhere near the main entrance.

My wife and I have been going to Enigma for years. The menu is extensive and (as of writing) the two big breakfasts for £7.95 represent excellent value. There is also a two-for-£10 deal which is worth looking at, though it features only eight or so dishes. Recently, with the arrival of a new chef, Thai food as been added to the menu. My wife has not been very impressed with the few Thai dishes she's had, especially given what we think is their high price. The Enigma cafe bar is situated very close to the town centre and is a great place to pop in if you're visiting Market Harborough. The absence of music also makes it ideal if you just want to chat.

Start the day the only way with an enigma breakfast, two for £7.95! Wow! Two eggs, two hash browns two sausages two rashers of bacon, beans, mushrooms, tomato and two pieces of toast+butter, friendly staff, warm atmosphere, what more could you want! K+k!!x

Enigma really does serve up excellent and varied meals with decent portions too. Their Thai options are very good.It can get busy (not surprising ) especially Friday and Saturdays. Drinks are also reasonable.Highly recommended.

My husband and I visited enigma cafe bar for brunch. The service was excellent and the staff friendly. The place is let down by the awful food. The menu has reference to Bates butchers. I buy my meat in this butchers but it has never tasted as bad as this. I ordered a plain burger! How could a chef get this wrong I hear you say. Well he could do it so well that it's hard as a rock and you would be lucky to not choke its that dry. On this day I did eat most of it as I had no breakfast and was very hungry. When the waitress asked how it was I told her and she said she would mention it to the chef. I didn't have the chips or slaw that come with the burger but never received any reduction in the price! If I was adding chips to something I would expect to pay more why not get a reduction if there taking them off. Anyhow the bap was not fresh, my hubby had meatball baguette with chips, he said it was just ok certainly nothing special. The drinks were very nice I had cappuccino and he had a hot chocolate. If u like Wetherspoon type food this is the place for you. It's very sad as the food here used to be very good some years ago. I wouldn't eat here again. It was £22 for a burger, a meatball baguette with chips, two hot drinks and a orange juice and lemonade. In my opinion not good value for money.

Last month I visited Enigma with a friend for an early lunch. I ordered a garlic chicken. After 40 minutes of waiting for my food, it finally arrived and smelt lovely, I tucked in to my food, enjoying it until... I found a hair in my food, which made me feel a bit I'll, but I left it on my pankin and carried on eating hoping it was a one off, unfortunately it wasn't, I soon found another hair in my food and that was it, I couldn't eat any more. I left about half of my food and pushed it to one side, hoping that someone would do a check backs, they didn't. When someone came to clear our table I told them about the hairs and showed them, they said sorry and asked if I wanted to put in a complaint, I said yes. After waiting 15 minutes, no one came back to offer a new dinner, or a refund or even just a drink, so I left unhappy and still hungry. This could have been dealt with a lot better and I would have still been a customer, but not after the poor attempt to please a customerWhich is unfortunate because I have visited before for breakfast and enjoyed it.

Almost had a coronary finishing the hot chocolate, it was delicious. They also do a good breakfast here tend to be quite flexible.

The Emigma is my favourite pub in Harborough. We always manage to find a table, the staff are always very friendly and the atmosphere is good to meet friends for a drink, meal and a chat.

We stopped in for the breakfast, 2 for £7.95. We were not sure what it would be like, this was our first time for breakfast.When we saw the plate we new we would struggle.I managed but only just. It was great.

This is a nice little place to go for a quick coffee or beer in the evenings but the opening hours are a bit iffy, they close early some days and others it's closed completely. The prices are good with the offers but here's the problem. They're usually not very busy when we go in but instead of encouraging customers to come in they keep putting the prices up! Enigma breakfasts used to be two for £6.99, it's increased by 96p. Prosecco used to be £7.95 a bottle, now they're £19.95 a bottle but only £11.95 during happy hour! Madness! Used to go in weekly but prices going up and random closing hours puts us off I'm afraid. Still good for a decent lunch though!

situated in the heart of the town. always busy at lunchtime and they offer entertainment at night.a mixture of Thai and American style food. nicely cooked and served. staff are pleasant and helpful.

My children and I stopped at Enigma today for hot chocolates. Oh my gosh, they are absolutely delicious. The hot chocolate is covered in cream, laden with marshmallows on the drink and on the saucer, along with a beautiful biscuit. My children and I loved the drink. The staff were excellent. I will return for lunch there shortly, as the menu looked delicious too.

Like to come down here on some mornings and I always order an English breakfast and it's always a very good portion and always warm which is really good defiantly would recommend breakfast here :)

Good value breakfast good service been here 3 times now for breakfast and cannot fault food our service seems very popular with the local people of market harborough.

It is one of the better locations in town but a little lost as does not quite seem to know what it is , Yes its a cafe/Coffee house serving time for food is a bit hit and miss, and it is also a nighclub at weekends. and a sort of bar during the week leading to a strange mix which for me does not work, Seems like Managemenent are trying hard to get into every market but in doing so falls bewtween all, On a positive note staff are very good and its clean and the food is more than reasonable for price. Ideal for a quick lunch with friends or family. Night club wise I would not have a clue as been far too long for me to go clubbing but layout of the upstairs club is spacious and ideal for private functions if you want a bar and some music and a dance. Management and staff always polite and try their best and do a good job

Heading to Market Harborough, looked up "Best Breakfast".Saw ENIGMA & figured I'd give it a go.Unfortunately it doesn't exist any more. Where has it gone ?Perhaps that's the Enigma !

Only been here for breakfast. Nice good value for money breakfast. 2 full fry ups for under 7 pounds isn't bad. Quick and polite service. Ingredients not top notch but not bad either. That's the only reason giving 4/5 rather than full 5/5.

Cheap food at cheap prices. Can get quite busy with families therefore, quite noisy but it's quick and easy and there is car park over the road. Ideal if you want to pop into town before or after. Staff seem to turn round a lot but Cheryl was always the best.
