What a great find! We celebrated a birthday here this past weekend and cannot recommend visiting yourself. The food, service and venue were exceptional. When we booked they knew we were celebrating a birthday and put balloons and a banner above our table especially and even provided a complimentary cake at the end. We will definitely be returning

The Bewicke has been one of my favourite pubs, for many, many years, and when I heard it was now a Thai Restaurant I was more than a little concerned. I needn't have worried! They've got it spot on. This is still a quintessential English Country pub, just serving excellent Thai food, not to mention great beers, in a welcoming atmosphere with excellent staff. I really can't fault it, and thoroughly recommend this great pub.

The Bewicke Arms, Thai Kitchen, really went out of their way to make our evening special, with great Thai food, extra little touches and attention. We went to the Bewicke Arms for a birthday dinner. Please note, The Bewicke Arms is now a Thai restaurant! (called 'The Thai Kitchen') I've eaten here twice. The food is of good quality and the venue remains a beautiful historic English pub in a lovely countryside location. On my last visit we were a group of six and we had a mixture of starters including spring rolls and spare ribs followed by the Pad Thai Noodles and the Chicken Cashew Nut Curry. We all really enjoyed our food and had a great evening. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, though their English was unsurprisingly a bit limited. They also have real ale on tap - the Timothy Taylor has been superb both times I've had it.

We were staying at The Sleepy Explorer and it is less than a 5 minute walk. It looks recently updated and the decor is modern with hints of the traditional, it has been really nicely done. Service was very friendly. We did eat, fortunately we like Thai food. Service was quick and the food really nice. Not massive portions but would definitely go again if in the area. The toilets were also spotless and also recently done.

Found this place by mistake, as my Tesla needed charging, and this was the nearest place on the map to where I was. Well, I’m not complaining at all. The staff were incredibly friendly, the pub was cosy and warm thanks to the fire being lit, but the food stole the show! The Scallops were cooked to perfection, and the beef Onglet was so tasty! I live close by and booked a table for dinner at The Bewicke a couple of weeks ago and it was my first visit since the change of management just over a year ago. My experience at that time was dire! The menu, service and food has been transformed by the new team. We enjoyed a superb meal of freshly cooked ingredients a friendly, warm service and value for money. I would highly recommend The Bewicke. The management and team are working hard to alter the past perception of the venue and on this evidence they have everything going in the right direction and deserve to succeed. I look forward to returning very soon now I know there’s a good restaurant with good food close by!

As a Hallatonian by upbringing I can attest that over the last few decades the Bewicke has had more bosses than the average Premier League football team. Judging by last week's visit the latest have got it absolutely right when it comes to food. I visited with my family for Sunday lunch and it was reassuringly busy, although this did mean it took a while to get served drinks and seated. After that, everything was pretty much flawless. Service from Cisco (sp?) was impeccable and our food - two beef roasts, two pork belies and a cod - top qualiity, there was plenty of it and represented good value. Encouragingly, the Bewicke hasn't gone so 'gastro' that locals are deterred, meaning you get excellent food in a proper village pub environment - the best of both worlds and highly recommended.

The room was lovely and clean, and had everything you needed in there (towels, coffee machine, iron) - staff very welcoming and helpful on arrival and the whole place dog friendly too!!! Mains we had were Pork Belly and Sirloin Steak - both cooked to absolute perfection, the best steak my husband has had for years and the pork belly was melt in the mouth with lovely vegetables too. Desserts were Sticky Toffee Pudding and Raspberry Ripple Parfait - both delicious. Very good selection of beers and wines. Checking in and out was very efficient. Waitress (American) was very hospitable and looked after us well. Breakfast was FANTASTIC in the Hare Pie Café - lovely coffee too!!!! It so happened they were celebrating their one year anniversary in business so we decided to stay for the celebration...and then we decided to stay for the night. The room was spotlessly clean and very nicely appointed. The garden was filled with people who were all obviously enjoying themselves. The staff were endlessly accommodating and very pleasant. We visited this restaurant for Sunday lunch after a lovely circular walk. We were a table of 8 which included two teenagers. We thought the interior was very welcoming and the menu was excellent. 7 of us had starters which was faultless. 7 of us had the Sunday roast dinner. The roast beef was amazing, cooked to perfection. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were lovely. Our main complaint was the lukewarm plates and food. Also the lack of vegetables. Everything was tasty and cooked well but we would have appreciated more vegetables and hotter food/plates. After our meal we sat outside in the glorious sunshine for post-dinner coffees. These were lovely and the outside furniture was very comfortable. However we didn't hang around very long as two of the kitchen staff were having an almighty argument, whilst the kitchen door was wide open. The language (F this and F that) was disgusting. It went on for quite some time and made us feel very uncomfortable and no one intervened. Such a shame as we would have sat outside for longer enjoying our coffee and perhaps more drinks. A lovely pub in a lovely location. Would visit again but perhaps request hot plates next time :)

This was a very pleasant Birthday meal for my wife and myself. It was some 30 years or so since I had last had a meal here and some 15 years or so since I had visited for a pint or two. In that time I believe the pub has changed hands a few times and even closed for a while. The new owners have done a very good job with the decor, keeping a very traditional feel to the pub, nice wood fires, wooden beams and easy comfortable seating etc, whilst giving the place a modern face lift, difficult to get right but the new owners have managed it in my opinion.

Lunch today. Another flag on the map, chosen by family as place to meet for lunch. Great building in beautiful village. A warm welcome from each staff member we met. Good point to see the Hallerton bottle kick (google it) later in April, and a fantastic food spot. Great selection of drinks. Food was, for me, Burrata cheese and mixed tomatoes with pesto to start with a fillet of perfect sea bass with steamed slicers of vegetables and a crispy skin to die for, followed by the Chef’s cappuccino. Others has the roast and the cod and chips. Glorious food, attentive and not intrusive staff. A lovely spot I wish I lived closer to. Enjoy.?”

Our first impression of this wonderful place on a raw, damp November day was the cosy and welcoming atmosphere in its series of intimately small rooms. There was a wood burner glowing warmly near our table, dispensing just the right amount of cheer as we settled down to enjoy one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Nothing fancy about the Sunday luncheon menu, but everything was superbly cooked, juicy and flavoursome, and portions were generous without being over- filling. And the smart young staff were attentive and helpful as required. No doubt about it, the Bewicke Arms is quite a place - we’ve already made another reservation.

Had lunch in this recently refurbished pub in the beautiful village of Hallaton and what a fabulous experience it was. The menu isn't extensive but it is comprehensive and caters to all tastes. They had Moules Marinieres on the menu as a starter but happily prepared a main meal portion and served the dish with two chunks of delicious bread. The mussels were sweet and perfectly cooked and the creamy, lemony sauce was excellent. My friend had sole in a brown butter sauce with shrimps and that too was really tasty.

Sunday lunch in British pubs is fraught with danger. Too often the meat is overcooked, the vegetables tired and the flavour - well lacking. Not the case at the Bewicke Arms. After a strenuous 7 mile walk through the Langtons and over the Cordalls, we arrived (late) to a warm welcome, a well deserved and excellent pint of Osprey from the Grainstore local brewery and the most divine Sunday roast you could possible wish for. Three of us had roast lamb, with a Yorkshire pudding as an added bonus, one had beautifully cooked fish and chips and even the vegetarian was happy with a chickpea casserole. The puddings of sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble were scrumptious. If you add to that first class, friendly service and warm, cosy - and ancient - surroundings and it is difficult not to feel all is well with the world.

We arrived as planned at ten in the morning but were still waiting for a cooked breakfast over an hour later. The two orange juice took twenty minutes to arrive at the table but think they misplaced the order. The breakfast was nicely cooked but considering the cost was not worth the price. They have a captive market as the venue is out in the sticks a little but I can’t see me revisiting and wouldn’t recommend to anyone else.

Stayed here for one night at very short notice to celebrate the big mans birthday. The staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating, they gave us a lovely warm room complete with mini bottles of red and white wine plus dinky bottles of fresh milk in a fridge plus bottled water. They even prepared a special birthday surprise dessert for my husband. The meal we had was delicious and the service was exemplary. The bar was busy with locals and visitors alike always a good indicator I think. Nothing was any bother when I wanted to adjust my main meal into a combo of two other others, all was presented well and the wine list was just about right, cocktails were sublime. The rooms are in a separate block to the pub so if it was raining you have to make a quick dash from one building to the next, I would suggest large golf umbrellas to hand for this purpose. We stayed in room 2 which was cosy and clean, I would, however, like to have a hanging shelf over the shower for toiletries and shampoo etc plus a shelf over the sink for toothbrushes and other bits n bobs would be useful. The room could do with a repositioning of furniture to accommodate 2 bedside cabinets. The Window dressings could also be looked at as curtains have to be drawn at all times as the blind just covers the centre window. Breakfast is taken in the Hare Pie Cafe which is owned by the same people as the pub and rooms and is joined externally onto the rooms. The breakfast here was one of the best ever had and poached eggs were perfection. Q, would we stay here again? most definitely.

The interior and exterior of this restaurant is very good, friendly staff with a homely feel. The portion size for the Sunday roasts are brilliant, enough to fill you right up. The selection on the plate included; veg, potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding with a healthy serving of gravy. The meat was cooked well and was very tender, but the other items let it down slightly being either under cooked or over. An average Sunday roast at an average price.

One of my party had a gin and tonic - I wish I had as it was served so beautifully in a large 'goldfish' bowl glass with juniper berries sprinkled in - a lovely touch. We had booked a table for 8.30 - were still waiting to be seated at 9, not sure if they were short staffed on that evening. However, when the meal did arrive it was delicious, my lamb absolutely stunning. My husband had a steak which was cooked to his liking but he was disappointed with the chips - oven ready we thought which for a place like this was a little disappointing. Overall, a lovely evening with great food and a reasonably priced wine list too.

Our first attempt to dine here was unsuccessful as although our Tuesday lunchtime booking had been accepted, we discovered on arrival that the pub only serves food on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There is a cafe though and the landlord kindly offered us a meal there on the house but we wanted a restaurant meal and so moved on.Our second visit on a Sunday lunchtime was more successful as the pub was open with several tables occupied and many locals visiting the bar. We ate in the front room which has a small bar, there is a larger space behing this for a large group and there is also a separate dining room. The landlord remembered us and gave us a bottle of Prosecco on the house. Prices are very reasonable with 3 courses for £20. Two of us found the starter of seared tuna carpaccio delicious and the third enjoyed latkes with avocado and sour cream.. The mains we chose were roast loin of pork with all the trimmings, whole roast plaice and pot roast partridge. These were generous portions and were all satisfactory, maybe the parttridge was slightly dry. For dessert we chose chocolate caramel fondant and greek yoghurt with berries and granola (breakfast!). I understand that this enterprise has not been operational for very long but we think in time, it should do well.

We had our first meal cooked by new chef, Olly, the other week and it was delicious. It was really tasty and just the right balance between being interesting but not too risky. What is great about The Bewicke is that you are always met with a smile. Sounds simple but so many pubs and restaurants seem to forget to do it these days!

Had an excellent roast here. Good beef, crispy roast potatoes, fine ale and friendly service. The only downside was the slightly loud pop music but all in all very good.

I have never given bad feed back before but felt that I needed to put my review on.The pub was very cold no heating apart from the fire that had gone out in the bar area. No hot water in the ladies toilets. Food wasn't the hottest and the beef on the Sunday lunch menu was very tough. When we were asked was everything ok with your meal? We replied " the beef wasn't the best too be honest, and the actual meal wasn't that hot". Well the waitress/bar lady, " I work in the kitchen and rib of beef is fatty", we tried to say "we know rib is more fatty but it was tough" but we couldn't really get a word in. She then said" do you want the bill". Very unprofessional and we could have really kicked off, we didn't make a scene and drank our drinks and left. We did notice other tables sending their food back too as it wasn't hot, plus they asked for steak knives for their beef. Don't think I need to say anymore, apart from bad attitude food and service . Must say the young man who worked behind the bar was very apologetic and professional.

Having booked a table for 2 in a quiet location we arrived to be seated in what appeared to actually be cosy position, but the table had not been cleared so we has to wait a few minutes but when we sat down the table was wet so I used my clean serviette to dry the table. Shortly after this what I can only describe as a weekend "dad" appeared wearing shorts and flip flops, now don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with shorts and flip flops in the right setting but it is late December! Now also with him was his 2 small children in tow who were also dressed in shorts all very strange. Now as of this point it became not "quiet" and yes you guessed correct it became very noisy, the children did as they wanted running around jumping on chairs walking around drinking, shouting, screaming, and to top it all off one then decides to broadcast the fact to the whole congregation present that he "needed a poo" yes we all have to go but come on now, and to be honest the children should be in bed by now but I guess that would interfere with dads pints down the local. Now for the food, I had the cured salmon which was very nice and my wife had the soup which she enjoyed but just a very small portion. Next up was the mains I had the turkey and my wife the slow cooked beef, my turkey was a little tuff but edible my wife's beef was very good the roast tatties I fear were "aunt bessies" and then what I found the most disturbing was when my plate was delivered I took a look and asked for a bit more gravy so the nice young lady went to get me some, alas on her return she handed me a milk jug for one sized receptacle with a teaspoon of gravy in it! Now this amount of gravy was not going to float my boat let alone my Yorkshire pudding come on chef get a grip!, now my fear is the chef guards his gravy with his life and its not for wasting on customers. My wife did mention the mash was like "smash" but awash in "lashings" of gravy it was ok. My wife then had a Crème Brulee which she enjoyed (see it's not all bad) I had the cheese board. Strange take on crackers more like something you get from a catholic priest in church but each to his own eh, and to add insult to injury "no butter" not even a little square on the platter surely its my choice if I want to clog my archeries not the gravy shy chef. The service throughout was excellent (uncleared table apart) and we were presented with all courses very quickly. Anyway we expressed our views to the waitress well some of them and we left feeling our special night was not so special at The Bewicke Arms, will we return (we have been several times before) not quite sure on that one.

We were travelling for work in Kettering and just could not find anything close to the office to suit our needs - so ventured further afield and accepted a 35 minute journey to experience an evening at the Bewicke Arms. How glad we were that we did! From the warm welcome, being shown to our fabulous rooms (complimentary wine I might add) and struggling to choose from the gorgeous menu....to a stunning night's sleep in crisp white expensive linen.Amazing breakfast in the Hare Pie Cafe - and impeccable service from start to finish.Grab the chance to visit this place as soon as you can folks - you won't find many like it!

This place has really improved in the last 12 months. The new owners seem to have got a good team together. Menu choice is limited but the food was delicious and very well presented.Prompt and attentive service received. Good wine choice. Average prices and altogether a lovely ambience. One small point , I personally would have like a side dish of vegetables as an accompaniment.

This is such an inviting building set in a pretty rural village and entering the pub doesn't disappoint either. To see 3 fires lit on a Thursday night shows attention to detail and a real effort to make this very welcoming. We had a meal in the small intimate dining area (with fire) on the other side of the bar, the atmosphere and lighting is perfect. The men had steak and kidney pie (deconstructed) which was excellent - with generous and tender meat under a pie crust. The fish and chips were very good and the lamb rump was tasty. My only complaint was the butternut squash could have been roasted longer (or peeled) as the outer skin was too tough. We skipped desserts but service was attentive and helpful. I can't comment on eating in the dining room at the back but if we came again we would definitely want to eat in here again.

This is my second visit to the Bewicke and whilst we enjoyed the food there were problems ... under-seasoned chipped potatoes for example, a basic error. Our bill came to £65 (two people, three courses plus wine) which is about what we would expect for this type of establishment. But our main complaint was the overall, somewhat chaotic organisation - firstly we were told that we hadn't booked - then the manager realised or admitted that there was a problem with the on-line booking system. We weren't given the option of sitting in a bar area with drinks to peruse the menu - it was straight to a small table in something of a rush. The serving staff seemed distracted and rushed, although the place didn't appear particularly busy. Then, finally I visited the Ladies loo, to find it had run out of toilet paper, hand soap and hand towels ... everything you need basically. This was early evening on a Saturday, surely someone should have checked it before evening service?

First time visit as a result of staying at the connected B & B - we had the sirloin steak which was cooked well - hand cut chips - very nice. Also had lamb which was cooked very nicely. Staff friendly and whilst laid back provided attentive service. Wasn't too busy for a Thursday evening in August which was quite nice. Decor and fixtures and fittings very nice and clean.

We couldn't have been happier with our stay at the Bewicke Arms. The rooms were clean, comfortable and stylish and there was even complimentary wine and fresh milk available. Breakfast was delicious and we had unlimited drinks with it - even cappuccinos and lattes, which we felt was very generous. We had trouble finding reasonable taxi rates for the trip to the wedding we were attending, and Damon the manager offered to drive us there himself for less, which we felt went above and beyond what we would expect of out hosts. When we went to pay him, he asked us to donate it to Macmillan Cancer Research - what a guy! Damon wasn't the only excellent member of staff - I didn't get to know anyone else by name, but we had a great greeting from all. I very rarely write reviews but feel moved to promote this fab place - you won't be disappointed if you stay here!

We came with our bikes having cycled Rutland water in the morning and arrived about 3 on a Saturday afternoon. Picturesque village with gorgeous houses and cottages. The pub looks fitting with its thatched roof and stone work. Great first impressions! We went in to the deserted bar area trying to find someone to check us in. Eventually checked in to room 2, ground floor. Tastefully decorated, large and great shower. Bed was only a double but comfy enough, although it tended to drift away from the headboard and consequently the pillows slipped down the back. Also didn't take to having a table for the pub outside the bathroom window. Decided to have a coffee in the hare pie, great coffee and lovely seating area on the terrace with lovely views. Went over to the pub to check the menu for dinner to be told abruptly by the young girl that food had closed. We were going to have the two course a la carte offer but again was told that this wasn't available on a sat so decided to just have a bar snack instead. We came back later, ordered two drinks fantastic Timothy Taylor but they didn't have martini apparently not classy enough for the folks of hallaton! We had our drinks outside and returned in to eat to be asked what were we doing there? The place was practically empty on a Sat evening in Aug? Rather strange customer service, had to explain that we were in fact staying and could we have a table for two, if not too inconvenient! The food was really good as was the wine. The breakfast was very good too and freshly prepared orange juice was lovely. The lady and young girl who work in here were excellent and probably the only friendly members of staff we encountered. Was shocked that it was so quite with only a rabble of locals outside and 6 people eating inside. Would be worried if it were my investment. So to summarise, lovely place and setting. Great food let down by customer service.

Despite having booked 3 months ago, our booking for 6 could not initially be found. We were placed in what appeared to be an area for larger parties which was not expected to be used that day. All the tables, including ours, were not fully laid - no napkins, incomplete cutlery and dead flowers. Admittedly, it was quite full, but service took quite a while, one order had been misunderstood and we felt rushed to leave. Food was good but pretentious (wooden boards and plenty of enamel dishes etc.) Pricey for complicated sounding dishes which were fairly average tasting!

Many years ago we used to regularly visit this pub for Saturday Lunch, but stopped going when it changed ownership as we no longer enjoyed the food. We decided to give it another go this Saturday after we heard that it was under new management and that the food was now of a high standard, and we were not to be disappointed. The menu was inventive and the food we had of an excellent standard. I am sure we will begin once again to visit this pub on a regular basis.

Love it here! Have been meaning to visit for a while, since I saw the local buzz about it on Facebook, but this week we finally got around to it and wished we had gone earlier. After a genuinely friendly welcome we examined the tempting menu, which we learned is amended and updated every day depending on what local ingredients are available. They source as much as possible locally but are also involved with The Slow Food Chef Alliance (look it up on Google, it's a fab community and environmental initiative). After orders were taken, we enjoyed a huge wedge of "cut-your-own" warm, crusty bread. Our starters and mains were delicious and we savoured every mouthful. Our only regret was not having enough room for dessert! The chic restaurant would be a great place for a special occasion dinner, but they also have a popular dining area in the bar (which is incidentally dog-friendly - we will be returning with our four-legged friend!). We wish the Bewicke Arms every success. We are lucky to live in an area where there are numerous village "gastropubs" offering good quality food - but in our opinion The Bewicke Arms currently stands head and shoulders above all of them.

Excellent, imaginative and comprehensive menu more than lived up to expectations. Service very good also. The best of local dinners we have been to. THANKSWe had a lovely night at The Bewicke Arms. The meal was very much to our liking, just one little fault too many leeks with the beef, but still all very delicious. The service and decor were very good. We will certainly be adding it to one of our places to re-visit.Once again many thanks for arranging last night’s Safari Supper. I really enjoyed the food - the best I’ve had in ages and a really lovely change to try something different for the starter and main course and the bread and butter were lovely too! The service was excellent and Natasha was extremely pleasant.I thought the food was excellent value for money. I would certainly go back to The Bewicke Arms again and recommend it to friends. It was lovely to have a room to ourselves and not to be bothered by the noise from other diners/drinkers.The location of the restaurant enabled us to visit a village with great character. The venue was interestingly rustic and the staff friendly and welcoming. The room was a little cramped, but other than that was fine. The menu was unusual with some novel combinations which we liked. The food was of good quality, well cooked and presented. The price seemed reasonable. We would go back there again.I though it was all very good. All the menu items were interesting, looked good, and the ones I ate tasted good too. Very happy to go there again and thought it good value for money.I enjoyed the evening, love the interior of the pub, staff very friendly and helpful.Food was delicious, beautifully presented, homemade bread wonderfully tasty.Only comment: the polenta cakes rather dense texture but much improved by extra sauce provided on request; baked cheesecake a little heavy in texture too.Thought the menu wording a little pretentious - now I know they are from the Olive Branch I understand why! - I had to look up onglet and wasn't sure what veloute was, but it was lovely.Company and conversation excellent, of course.Thank you again for organising. We both thought the meal was delicious, nicely presented and good value. The only slight criticism would be that the main course wasn't too warm. However, the beef was beautifully tender which more than compensated. I particularly liked the seating arrangement as I was, happily, able to hear the conversations of my fellow diners. I often have problems if there is a lot of background noise.I thought it was brilliant. I'd love to go again. Everything about it good.I thought the meal on Wednesday was excellent as was the venue. The menu was definitely different but I could not fault any of the food. Who would have thought that mackerel, rhubarb and cockles would go together so well.As there was only one waitress for the most part I think they did extremely well getting the food out so quickly.Yet another place to revisit.Thank you again for organising the event.I thought The Bewicke Arms impressed. The room was set out with cloth serviettes, candles and tablecloths - a real rustic charm pervaded - and it was great to have a room to ourselves as we tend to be quite noisy as the evening proceeds. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and helpful and the service was good - we only needed to ask and immediately it was attended to. As for the food; what an interesting menu! I thought the mackerel and rhubarb was sensational especially with the added cockles and dried rhubarb skins - something I have never tasted before. As for the lamb I really liked the added anchovies giving the dish that extra saltiness -a great taste combination. The beef also look very appetising and the small portion I tried was a delight to the palette. I wasn’t too sure about the polenta ‘potatoes’ as these were rather solid - all the better with the additional sauce provided. I thought the cheesecake portion was tiny however I’m pleased it was as I would have eaten a larger portion and regretted it later! I certainly felt replete after such a delicious meal. Please can we go back again. Thank you for organising.

We spent the evening yesterday at the Bewicke Arms with fronds, 6 of us in total. My favourite beer Taylor's Landlord on draft so onto a winner from the start...Very attentive and pleasant service from the main waitress and a genuine interest from the bar/restaurant manager which was ll very professional. Not a great big selection on the a la carter menu which on balance is probably a good thing. The trout had run our but at least they had replaced the option with salmon. Four out of six of us had the sole which was extremely good. Nice cheese plate and coffee to finish. We were last to leave the restaurant by about an hour but nobody rushed or hassled us.Definitely worth a return trip. Very good.

I've eaten at the Bewicke twice in the last couple of weeks and both times the food was simply outstanding. The menu at the Bewicke is not huge (thankfully) but it is one of the most interesting menus I've seen in the area. We called in to the Bewicke Arms in Hallaton for lunch on a Tuesday. It was my wife's birthday and we wanted to try somewhere new. The Bewicke Arms has only been serving food since last year and we decided to give it a try.The pub has been nicely updated but has all of the original features and character. Lots of pictures of the famous 'bottle kicking' event that happens every Easter.Great selection of beers. I went for the Timothy Taylors's Landlord. Lovely. For lunch we had the sirloin sandwich and pub chips. It was beautifully presented and very tasty. We followed this with coffee and petit fours. wow! What a great, unusual selection. They were beautiful. We loved the food, the service ( a very charming person from Melton) and the place. Will definitely be going back and work our way through the menu. There is also a very interesting cafe next door - the hare pie cafe - which we shall try the next time we are passing. Will be lovely to sit outside on the terrace looking over the fields and have a cappucino and a cake.Would happily, highly recommend.

Hi we visited here today with a large booking of 12. Waited for over half hour for our table, despite asking if it was ready a few times, continuously being told 5 mins! Once finally sat, we waited for at least another 45 minutes, despite requesting if we could order. Until I finally found who was suppose to be head of service. If you are vegetarian take care, as I called to check early today to check carvery less meat was possible, apparently for a quid less!. Told yes, low and behold, the menu said duck fat roasties so, I asked and a lovely young girl checked and returned very apologetic, saying yes they are cooked in duck fat. Finally, once again after finding a lady who was supposed to be leading the afternoon, which by now was evening, came to our table. I asked about the mix up re carvery, she offered no apology for the time we had waited. I asked again how much longer, suggested an apology to our parties B' day girl. That did result in a bottle of processco! I do not tend to do reviews, but this head or service proceeded to tell me the potatoes were okay for a vegan! I explained theyre are not so, she disappears again and returns saying they're not! So, then my choice from the vegan meant we all had to wait again! 20mins pass, I find her again. Finally the party were able to start to queue! Yes queue! Unbelievable! If you have any allergies take care eating here is all I have to say. Credit to the young team keeping her afloat, shame they all looked so, stressed. To The Shires I recommend you book less people in and provide a better service. With head of service that has some people skills keeping customers waiting informed.
