Absolutely superb Sunday lunch. Large dish of seasonal veg to share betwen us, and a large portion of meat on each plate, plus roast potatoes, 2 Yorkshire puddings and a large boat of gravy. Everything was piping hot and beautifully cooked. For afters there was a large selection of home made puddings, which were offered with custard, cream or ice cream to suit. The pot of tea was really good too. All in all an excellent meal for 2 for under ÂŁ35.! Will definitely return, and would highly recommend it to anyone who likes good home cooking style meals, rather than tiny portions of artistically arranged food served on ridiculously large plates! The location is quite remote though, and my Sat nav didnât identify the right building from the postcode, so it might be better to put in Stockerston Rd Allexton instead, and look out for the sign opposite the driveway. The tea rooms arenât open every day, but the opening hours are on their website.

A surprising and totally charming tea room with wonderful staff in period costume. More than this it goes beyond simple nostalgia as it serves a beautiful community purpose with period photos and objects donated, gifted or obtained locally. Just ask how the cafe was conceived and you will understand more. Itâs also bigger than you think with a nice garden and mock-up Anderson shelter. The period newspapers on the tables are a wonderful touch. The food was very good and reasonably priced.

We were staying the night in the village and rang ahead to check they would be doing food as we didn't want to get stranded without anything for dinner. They were helpful on the phone and friendly in person. We got pizza to takeaway and a very quick drink whilst we were waiting. The pizza was very good indeed and if we hadn't been knackered we'd happily have had a longer visit.

Good food although didn't realise the ÂŁ5 main would be so small! Service was a let down as had to ask where our starter was, then two came out with the main course, despite having ordered it off the starter list. Also had to chase the dessert! Toilets were also unpleasant and in need of cleaning.

We booked a table for 27th December for a Christmas family night out, minus the kids. We arrived on time, about 7.45. As soon as we sat down we were told by our slightly embarrased waitress that there was no steak, no burgers and no Rioja or Merlot available. We accepted our menus anyway, only to find that half the main course options was for either burgers or steaks, leaving us with roast dinners and a couple of fish dishes as our options. We picked up our coats and left, taking our custom to a high street chain instead. When we walked past Nossa later that evening, at about 9.30, the restaurant was in complete darkness. We had visited this venue before lockdown when it was called The Olive (I think). The food and service then was terrific, so it was a terrible shame to experience what we did last December under this new guise. Having booked our table several weeks before we visited, you'd think the kitchen would have been able to serve up a burger or a steak. The atmosphere in the restaurant felt non-existent too, so we will be booking elsewhere in future.

1.30 on a Monday... (advertised hours till 2pm) Sorry kitchen is closed as we are too quiet. Unfortunate, as we will never return. We ended up at zizzi which was ok, but interestingly the table next to us was also annoyed at Rock Salt for tur inv them away. We were keen to spend a 3 course meal with wine, and we do return to good place. Now nope, and until the annoyance fades will actively be warning friends away.
