Amazing lunch at the Yard, really lovely space and incredible food and coffee!! Great menu and specials Only a few minutes off the M1 and a million times nicer than a stop at the services, would really reccomend! Lovely friendly staff and great value Editing to add, got a brownie to takeaway for the rest of the drive, and it was the best brownie I've ever had, and I've had a lot of brownies, wish we'd brought more cakes now!

Great place, even if the location is a little out of the way. Went on a weekday so fairly quiet, but pictures around the place suggest it’s bustling if the weathers good. Breakfast was lovely though and service great.

Nice tucked away hidden gem of a place. Number of small indy businesses here, with this charming cafe central. Would have liked to see a vegan full breakfast on the menu but they had vgn sos sandwiches (Linda McCartney ones which are a tad dated now vs say Richmond?), though the drinks took seemingly forever sitting outside in the courtyard was bliss and see they also do beers would want to return sometime when passing.

Great little find, thanks to Google maps and reviews. Not cheap, but it didn't disappoint. Lovely out in the sun too. Fresh and tasty ingredients. 1 fault, if I'm being majorly picky. My bacon was a lil overcooked. And at the price of the yard brecka, a free sourdough slice upgrade instead of 2 normal slices would've been a nice touch, rather than an extra price option. Oh, partners egg sandwich was enjoyable to!

They finish breakfast at 12, although website says all day. Everything had onions in or on it and partner can't eat them (they don't state it in some things. We ordered nettle quiche and sausage in forcattia and got chorizo quiche and roasted veg quiche. I returned the veg forcattia and they had run out of forcattia and they put sausage on sourdough, with lots of fried onions, which took 15 minutes and they didn't keep quiche hot. For some reason they have put a TV in, although not turned on when we were there. Been coming for many years, but this may be the last.

Visited with a friend last week, both had the quiche which came with two fresh salads, really good portions and absolutely delicious! I loved the place so much, went for lunch again yesterday, when I had the special Focaccia with Jason’s sausages, caramelised onions and melted cheese. Again absolutely delicious, nice coffee, friendly staff and swift service. Yes, a quirky setting but it all adds to the charm ! Oh and the sausage rolls looked very tempting, might have to go again !

Where ever possible we like to use local, independent businesses. Whilst travelling to the North, we googled places for breakfast/brunch and found this place just off the M1. It looked great and is relatively easy to find. We were soon parked up and walked in, to be greeted by two very obnoxious ladies. Not sure if they were the owners or just customers, sat on the right just through the door with their old laptops out, leads everywhere. If looks could kill, one of them couldn’t help make a sarky comment, as went to find a table. WOW! We found a table amid collected menus from the till area, whilst it wasn’t freezing, it was not warm! WOW, very very very pricey for what they offered, but then again probably in line with those rip off service stations on the M1. The large breakfast was certainly not worth the money, 1 sausage, 2 rashers of bacon, tiny ramekin of beans, 12 small mushrooms sliced, a slice of toast, 6 cherry tomatoes and an over fried egg nearly £14! Big thing about it being Jasons sausage, which looked like the butcher that was on site. Perhaps Jason needs to go and learn about sausage making and taste. We asked for poached or fried eggs, this was met with a firm NO! When the food arrived, the cook seemed affronted that we asked for some more brown sauce, what we had was a table spoon of sauce in a dish for the 3 of us that had asked for sauce. No salt and pepper, no cutlery! Cutlery eventually arrived, but we had to go and find our own salt and pepper, we had sachets of wet salt and pepper given to us. We duly ate our food whilst been dive bombed by flys! Wonderful experience! PS try cleaning the toilet area and vacuuming the extractor fan, the dust is stopping any stale area being extracted!

My wife enjoyed the home cooked style of food as did myself and our son. The location is not really conventional and the food preparation area quite small so well done for being able to serve nice food. As it is in a rural setting the abundance of flies in this hot spell of weather is not a good look for the business. Everything is quite rustic so do not expect perfect surroundings inside or outside.

We were driving through the area and thought this looked an interesting place to stop for a coffee. It certainly wasn’t the usual coffee stop as it is located in an old farm yard building. Looked for lunch options off M6 /M1 rather than use motorway cafe and not disappointed. Nearly missed the turning on a very small unmade road located nearly opposite church in village. Not sure the cafe was open as middle of December and no one visible, but once inside warmed up with the log burner. Staff were friendly and menu caters for vegan, vegetarian and dairy free without compromising on taste, Eclectic mix of customers from locals, visitors, walkers etc. Glad we made the 3 mile detour to this cafe rather than suffering bland motorway food. The food is very good and well presented generous portions.

We had quiche - several choices - with a side salad. Both quiches were hot with crispy pastry & really delicious. The side salad was tasty, though perhaps a little limited in content [leaves, tomato, cucumber, thin slices of courgette & yellow pepper], but very tasty with a lovely dressing. We sat inside as it was a little cool & breezy outside & there was plenty of space between tables. Our only negative point was the rather bizarre background music which seemed to consist of a loud throbbing beat & was quite unpleasant & intrusive. [This is a comment from people who love rock & heavy metal!] We recommend this cafe for an excellent & good value lunch, but maybe bring earplugs.

The service was quite poor - not clear how to order, 2 of us ordered inside, 1 of us told to order from the table but no one came over so ended up having to go inside anyway. Drinks were slow and requesting tap water was responded to as though it were a huge inconvenience. It also didn't arrive and had to go inside again to ask for it. Great little coffee shop. Wonderful selection of homemade cakes that change regularly. Some interesting menu choices…. Scrambled eggs with cheese and chorizo. Cheese and marmite on toast are the kind of comfort foods that help this place stand out from the crowd. Along with the usual Faye you would expect to find on a varied menu. Service is friendly and attentive. I’d urge anyone looking for a break from walking/shopping/browsing to pop in but I fear this would make getting a table even harder!
