This place is a gem, it's Sunday menu was amazing, I would 100% recommend

Fabulous food and excellent service in a beautifully restored village pub. We had two courses of a late Sunday afternoon lunch and everything we were served, including a vegetarian, gf option for my partner, was superb. Thank you for catering for us with care and attention at short notice. Highly recommended.

Great food in nice surroundings - good value too!

Dining experience good staff attentive and friendly. Ambience of the restaurant very pleasant Unfortunately we chose to visit on the wrong night to experience the menu that we had viewed on the web site, didn’t take note that Wednesday was a limited menu choice night. A style of tapas dishes. Very tasty and well presented but not our preferred choice of food for dining out. Maybe return but another night to select from the full menu

We come here every year for our anniversary. Fantastic food you just can’t beat it! However the service was not great. Not very friendly especially by one waitress. We were left waiting for a while before taking our order. Such a shame as we have always had the best service here but tonight let themselves down..

It’s not very often that you come across somewhere that has the perfect recipe of surroundings, service, food and value but this place has it all! We were booked in for Sunday lunch with friends following a very warm 5 mile walk around the local area. Arrived in desperate need of a drink and were met with a warm welcome and asked if we’d like to take a drink outside before ordering which we thought was a great idea. It was then suggested that we could eat outside if we wanted and, of course, we did as is was such a lovely day. I won’t go into detail about our meal but will say that we have all eaten in some great establishments and voted every single course as a 10/10! Congratulations to the whole team, including the chefs and every member of staff we met who were so friendly, sincere and professional. Will definitely be back and recommending this place to all our friends. As they say…… if Carlsberg did customer experience …..

Visited today with friends, very welcoming, friendly staff in a relaxed environment, we had 2 Sunday lunches, both of which were very tasty, sea bass and steak were also enjoyed by the men, desserts were delicious too, all served by friendly , accommodating staff.

Haven’t been for a few years but pleasantly surprised that it was just as good if not better! Lovely outside seating and just as nice inside. Staff lovely highly recommended

I went to The Crab & Cow, having been there previously and it was really good. This time, we had two roast dinners, one chicken and one beef. The chicken was unbelievable, so tasty. The beef, however, was, unfortunately, so chewy and sinewy. It was difficult to eat. The beef is the most expensive meat too so I was expecting more. Apart from the beef though, everything else was very good, including the service. Oh, and we had pulled pork croquettes and salmon to start, they were both fantastic.

We had the sea bass which was excellent. I understand that the vegetables were cooked al dente, but the broccoli, and the cauliflower in my husband’s vegetarian dish were extremely undercooked and difficult to eat. This spoilt the meal for us.

Sunday roast. Meat (beef) was delicious but wouldn't have been sufficient for those with a larger appetite. Yorkshire pudding was huge and very nice as were the roast potatoes. If you're hungry when you arrive I would suggest a starter which all sounded really nice.

We found this on trip advisor, staying in the nearby Leonardo hotel Hinckley for work (the restaurant for which was horribly slow), and the crab and cow was FANTASTIC! it was a Tuesday and they had pie night, two of us ordered the pie which was stunning and another had the steak which she said was very good! We also shared the scotch egg and scallops to start which were also great. Lovely decoration and staff! Thank you for such a lovely meal, we couldn’t have done better!

myself and my husband haven't been here for over a year so we thought for a meal out treat, lets return to the C&C. we went on a tuesday evening where they do their a la carte, set menu and it's also pie night. we were surprised how busy it was when we arrived so we were glad we'd booked a table! to eat i had the set menu (3 courses for £30) and my husband had one of their pies. To start we both had the scotch egg which we both loved! all the food we had throughout the evening was nicely presented, tasted amazing and was nice and hot. the service we had throughout the evening to from members of the team was friendly, helpful and professional. So another great evening at the C&C. Both the food and the service. We'll be back another another time im sure!

Hubs had the lamb shank for his Sunday lunch, he said it was possibly the best he's ever had. I was spoilt for choice as they had moules mariniere (without cream, the best way!) as a special. I finally chose the beef. Both plates came with a heavenly carrot puree, large yorkie, beautiful cauliflower cheese, veg medley and roasties. Portions were just right too. We had a cheeky pud because who can resist date sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream ice-cream! We asked for 2 spoons to share! I'd normally say I don't have a sweet tooth but it was WAY better than my childhood memories. Can't wait to return and hopefully have the mussels!

Fantastic New Year’s Eve Sunday Roast and brilliant with our three year old. Staff as usual the best service around and food fabulous.

Went there for our small Christmas work do. ( two couples). It was steak night and we had two chateaubriands between us for main course and they were fantastic. cooked to our liking and really good quality. Starters of Croquettes, scotch egg and Goat Cheese tarts were a great kick off. Then to finish a Pistachio and cherry pudding and a treacle and orange tart. yummy. Staff were really nice too!

Great food and service. Had only two complaints, the roast potatoes were cold! Replaced immediately and for us, we prefer a longer wait between starter and main. To be fair, we would tell them next time. Been searching fir ages for a place for good Sunday lunch and we found it!

Saturday night treat the the better half and certainly was a treat ! As always the service was outstanding. The restaurant is really chilled with lovely decor and a nice vibe! Beef croquettes and black pudding stotch egg for starters were delicious followed by Chateaubriand which was devine probably the best meal we've had at the crab and cow! Just wish they would change the menu now and again it been the same for 3 years

We had come for Sunday lunch as we have many times before, we had been seated quickly and drinks and food orders were taken promptly. The food was excellent as always, and the table was keen to order desserts. However, when the main course was taken away and the question of desserts was asked, we asked to see the dessert menu. No problem, the waitress said she'd be back with the menus. It was after 20 minutes of watching waitresses wandering the floor with a pad in hand passing us by each time, we decided to flag one down. She apologised, claiming that they thought we hadn't asked for them (which is false, as the waitress said she'd be back with menus). After a further 15 minutes of waiting for our order to be taken (we were all going to have a dessert and coffee), we decided to leave instead. We (again) flagged somebody over to pay and we left. Perhaps it was busier than they are used to, but it's a real shame that the experience of great food and great atmosphere was soured by poor service.

We came here on Saturday for lunch. It’s a beautiful old pub in a lovely village. We both really enjoyed the food and have booked again for our daughter’s birthday. Would definitely recommend a visit

Visited the Crab & Cow for the first time for the Tapas night on a Wednesday. We were made to feel immediately welcome, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. There is an excellent choice of beers and wine by the glass. The food was absolutely beautiful, delicious, and well presented. Overall we were very impressed and will definitely be vising again soon!

Went with my partner for the new Thursday “Surf and Turf” steak night. Was absolutely fabulous. Calamari was perfect, scallops were perfect, steak was perfect, service was perfect!! Thank you Crab and Cow!!

My partner and I were so looking forward to Sunday lunch at the Crab & Cow on Sunday 22nd. My partners’ daughter and another acquaintance had eaten there and raved about the food. First the good - lovely surroundings, friendly professional, attentive, restaurant and bar staff, and an excellent, varied, Sunday lunch menu. Now the bad - once the delicious looking food was served, my partner and I commented to one another that our respective meals were only luke warm (a pet peeve for both of us and I’m sure most, if not all, reading this review!). We mentioned this to our server, who offered to return both meals to the kitchen or bring us ‘hot’ gravy. Not wanting to create a fuss, we foolishly chose option two. We should of realised even with hot gravy being poured over warm food, it still means it’s warm food not hot. For some inexplicable reason, I was feeling particularly charitable. I should of created more of a fuss and received a considerable reduction in the bill total. We were offered no reduction in the bill, nor was any form of compensation, for the ruined dining experience offered (free dessert, free coffees, etc.). To show there were no hard feelings toward the serving staff, I actually left a 20% tip over and above our £80 bill. I absolutely hate leaving negative reviews but this is warranted. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the Crab & Cow, a huge disappointment!

We went to the Crab & Cow twice last weekend. On both occasions the restaurant was busy, the service and the food . Well worth a visit and we will go back again when we are in the area.

What a brilliant restaurant this is. We arrived early on one of those warm nights and had time to sit outside ordering drinks within a wonderfully decked out patio. We found all of the staff here were so friendly and welcoming and we were looked after by Rosie who was wonderful, bringing out our drinks and the menu allowing us to relax and check out the great selection of food on offer. We totally enjoyed our meal set inside the restaurant within a cosy atmosphere. At the end of the night we passed on our compliments to the chef, who clearly has pride in their work and full credit to Rosie for looking after us so well. We agreed that we just had to make sure that we gave the Crab and Cow and their team a review that was so rightly deserved. Rest assured we will be back, very soon. Andy & Wendy.

Last night we visited the crab for a meal. Wow gorgeous food! Three of us ordered steaks and it was cooked to perfection. We had tweaked one of the dishes because I am a coeliac and they were pro active in finding out what I could have. The price of the steak sauces were overpriced (£4) but the price of the steaks included a side and garnish which was a positive. The outside area is lovely and we moved here for our puddings and additional drinks. Thank you for delicious food, the torte was also fab!

Opted for a Tuesday to try the Pie Night offer. The service was attentive throughout, staff really worked together and looked happy. The food was excellent, really faultless, whilst delivering value for money. A 10/10 - well done!

Visited for a birthday meal in a group of 8. Food was excellent. Nicely cooked, beautiful presentation. Not the cheapest but ok for good food and a special occasion. Service attentive and knowledgeable. It would be good to have an idea who ordered what when serving as I felt we were being asked every few minutes who had ordered which drinks / dishes disrupting the atmosphere. However the main waitress had really good knowledge and answered everything well and with a good sense of humour. Overall a nice experience - thank you! Would return.

Amazing food, great wine and service was exceptional

I went for lunch here today with my son. It was a warm afternoon so sat in the lovely terrace area which is seriously stylish and beautifully planted out. The food was superb, the staff friendly and attentive and was extremely good value also. They were playing some nice background music which just added to the ambience. First class all round.

Excellent, our first visit (recommended by my parents who are very choosy!) and we were very impressed. It's a nice room, service was good and the meals were very good. The bruschetta and chocolate/honeycomb tart were to die for! (NB you might want to let your staff know, it should be pronounced 'brusketta' not 'brushetta' please! My brother-in-law is Italian!) Superbly cooked chateaubriand! My friend was going to order the 6oz fillet steak when I suggested the obvious alternative. It was a wise move.

The best roast in Leicestershire!

Me and my wife had a 3 course meal here (not off the set menu). Each course was fantastic and my lamb was cooked to perfection. Was also well priced, with friendly staff.

Absolutely wonderful meal. In fact I need more than 5 stars! I chose the sea bass followed by the sticky toffee pudding and my husband had the chicken, followed by treacle tart. Had a very nice Sunday lunch today, just very disappointed when ordering the vegetarian Wellington, not being told it contained stilton cheese of which I cannot bare the taste of. I took one bite and sadly it ruined the rest of my dinner. We called the waitress over to ask if I'd missed something on the menu that mentioned the cheese, to be told 'oh yes it does have stilton in it, and no it doesn't say it in the lunch menu but it does on the pie night menu" ....... I had to really hold back a very sarcastic comment being as it was a Sunday lunch time. I was offered a risotto but that would take 20 mins, and so declined as all other guests would have long finished their meal by the time a risotto arrived. No apology was made particularly, a half hearted "is everything else ok". My meal was taken off the bill, however I would have preferred to have had a nicer experience. All in all, the food was nice but felt the service and staff were very lack lustre and not overly attentive. In a climate where I may have thought businesses like this might suffer I would have expected service to be over and above. We have been several times now, but I'm not so sure we will rush back. Will look for somewhere that feels like they want you there. Shame....😔
