Nicely laid out store but the staff on the till just don't want to be there.

A place which never lets us down. Food is delicious, really well priced, nice inside and outside, great staff. Good parking and just all around a lovely place to have a meal.

This is one of our locals we love it but sadly dogs are not allowed anywhere inside while they are serving food so we can only use it in the summer

First time I've had a carvery in at least five years and I wasn't disappointed. The food is probably some of the most 'home cooked ' food I've had in years. Absolutely superb and full of flavour. So good, will definitely be going back. Had the treacle sponge and custard for dessert and there was enough to feed a small family. Absolutely fantastic!

Prompt, friendly service and fantastic food, I had chargrilled gammon, which is one of those things that sorts out good chefs from bad. The cooking was faultless: the meat was absolutely delicious, with grilled fresh (not tinned) pineapple, perfect chips and lots of little extras. Thank you, we will definitely be back.

We all really enjoyed the evening

Arrived for Sunday lunch. We were shown to a table next to the carvery which was like eating in a canteen. Although our booking was for 3:15PM. We were still waiting 30 minutes later. The person looking after us just kept saying he would let us know when we could go up for the carvery, even though two chefs were standing at the hot plate doing nothing. Wasn’t enjoying the atmosphere so we left.

Just had a Sunday carvery 04/08/24 with the family, 6 adults & 3 children under 5. Everyone commented on how good the food was & plenty of it. We squeezed in a dessert each & that was delicious too, presentation was good & the staff were very helpful. Considering it was a busy day the waiting staff were approachable, 10/10. Definitely go again.

Lovely welcoming pub/restaurant.... popped in for just a drink on the Tuesday... so warm and welcoming and very reasonably priced...a lovely Pino.... Booked a table for dinner for the following night, again great welcome and food was reasonably priced and looked and tasted amazing....

Another lovely carvery at the crown, always a solid reliable dinner from here. Staff are always friendly and nice and attentive. Might try the Tuesday carvery and the chippy night.

This was a first visit for us and we will certainly be back. I had the fish and chips which were great. Excellent batter and coming from Yorkshire originally where they know how to cook fish, I thought it was excellent and couldn’t believe the size of the fish, it was MASSIVE! The chips were good but there was far too many for me to eat, it was a shame I had to leave some. Roll on our next visit.

We booked a table for 7pm for a family of 10 a birthday celebration After continuing asking when are order was going to be taken we ate at 8.30 by this time the children were unsettled and adults were stressed the service was appalling we would have had more drinks but no service If you book a table in advance I would expect to be catered for We payed the bill in full due to not causing any more stress to the family The lady dealing with us was very apologetic it wasn’t her fault and I thank and respect her We planned the evening due to having 2 children with ADHD and givingthem there medication to fit in with the time we were going to eat

We went out with a family of 8 7 out of the 8 meals was nice then we get to mine i had lasagne witch was nice but then after finding not one but two hairs in the coleslaw thats was anuff for me tbf we didnot have to pay for that one meal but this as put us off comeing back the johnson family

Had a lovely meal on Mother's day. There was a large party of us and the staff were great looking after all our needs. Had the carvery which was lovely and had a really nice time . Would go again.

Great Sunday carvery at a reasonable price compared to other pub/restaurants. We ate at 6.15 plenty of it. Beef and vegetables cooked just right. Dessert was delicious. Great range of beer and wine. Car park was full as it was very busy but enough parking on road.

Perfect carvery today. Have been to the Crown many times but the Sunday roast today was absolutel perfect 👌 😋. Lovely bright and attentive waiting staff. 10/10!!!

The carvery food was really good - the meat was not overcooked and the cauliflower sauce was just right. The service was faultless and helpful.

Food good but a bit over priced imo.

Called in midweek without booking and we’re soon found a table. First rate, prompt service throughout. Nice Pedigree beer. Food excellent, big choice on menu and several specials. Generous portions reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere and all in all an excellent experience.

First visit and certainly not the last! (21/03/23) Lovely carvery with a great selection of vegetables in comfortable, clean, rustic surroundings. Young, but excellent team, lead by a super manager who made us feel welcome and could not do enough for us. If I had to add criticism, and it is a tiny thing, but, the printed menus were looking rather dogeared, which was not in keeping with the rest of the surroundings. All in all, a relaxing evening which was much needed. Thank you all!!

Every meal is amazing my personal favourite is chilli chicken, can’t get enough the chips, they’re are so soft and delicate, coleslaw is lovely and light. Every meal I have tried so far is amazing! best food in Leicestershire- River and Allyson.

Great service but carvery was barely warm and pretty tasteless and at £100 for 4 a bit of a disappointment. Was meant to be a family celebration but not good value for money . I won’t be returning

Carvery was lovely and reasonably priced and enjoyed the blackberry and apple crumble for dessert. Children's meals were also good. was very busy pub and restaurant, booking recommended. Staff were obviously very busy but other than waiting for a few minutes when we arrived to be seated they were attentive and friendly

Visited on Thursday for a meal must say fabulous welcome by all the staff so friendly food absolutely lovely we had two courses of the main menu nice sized portions excellent value for money definitely recommend a visit here see you soon

This is our favourite place for a country pub meal. The best though is the carvery... Top quality food and generous portions. Excellent service and good variety of drinks.

As ever we had a wonderful meal. We’ve been coming here for several years and the standard has never dropped. The service is always good and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Crown for a good night out.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Julie was very accommodating when I booked a table for 13 for a Saturday evening. The whole experience could not be faulted. Superb piping hot food was served to us all promptly, and all at the same time. (main meals were pre-ordered to ensure this). The meals were delicious, reasonably priced and were all large portions! Yum! Staff were extremely helpful and attentive and the whole atmosphere made the evening thoroughly enjoyable. We all loved it. I look forward to becoming a regular customer of yours! Kathy

Called in for a drink yesterday en route home from Rugby. Would have stayed for another but we were put off by a group of four men who left their drinks to go and snort coke in their nearby Seat Ibiza. They then returned to their table as though it was normal, at 4.30pm in the afternoon. Will go elsewhere in future.

We visited today for the first time and unfortunately it will be the last time our group consisted of 9 people and we were booked for 12 midday 7 were having carvery 1 was having scampi and 1 was having a salad. It took half an hour to get the 👍to head up to the carvery it then took till 13.40 approx for the table to be cleared it then took till 14.00 for someone to take orders for dessert at 14.15 the waitress was asking us to vacate the table ASAP as they had another party waiting at the bar, but unfortunately very poor service and wrong orders taken was the only reason we were still there after the permitted 2 hours very poor show

Nice place, good grub, reasonable prices, very helpful and friendly staff.

Recently moved into the area and this place is a Gem! Lush food, great value and the customer service is amazing. The Diet can start next week.

Overall nice experience with friendly staff but the only grumble was kept waiting over half an hour for our food reservation and had to prompt staff.

A beautiful Sunday Carvery - A table for 13 and all served promptly. The atmosphere was lovely, everywhere was clean, the staff were polite and happy. The food was delicious and the price was very good. What more can you ask.

Traveled 12 miles to try this rated carvery only to be told “ no food due to the hot weather! So very bad service, will not recommend or visit again. Went to an Indian restaurant to celebrate my birthday, thank goodness for some hard working staff .

I would like to say that it’s a great place and I love it there the carvery is very nice and delicious. The staff are very nice and friendly too and very helpful they carried my plate for me because I had a walking stick and they were very polite and give you whatever you want. The staff at the end asked how it all was and yes I told her what I said above, thank you very much and see you soon

First time visit, went to try out the fish and chip special all you can eat night. Pub was very nice and staff were all very pleasant. Shamed to say managed 2 plates full . Food I had was lovely couldn’t fault it , but my sons pie wasn’t fully cooked underneath but still eat it. Brilliant value for money

The Crown Inn is lovely inside, roomy and modern feeling without loosing the warmth of a local pub. Staff were patient and attentive even during a busy evening (worth making a booking if it's a big group), and food was top notch

The importance of not using paying customers personal details: an awful customer experience at The Crown Gilmorton My family visiting from Liverpool with an age range between 84 to 22 made a text booking for a table of 6 at The Crown Gilmorton starting at 2.30pm yesterday. We were informed we had a 2 hour booking, we were very happy with the plans. We have enjoyed many meals over the years at the Crown and support all the local businesses in Gilmorton and indeed my daughter who was part of the paying group yesterday spend 5 very happy years working for the Crown. We arrived at 2.25pm and went to the bar to get drinks, we waited to be seated. At 2.38pm we were informed the table would be cleaned, it took until 2.55pm for us to be seated. Orders were taken 3.00pm and when are food arrived at 3.20 pm, it was beautiful. What went wrong you may ask? I was very upset and disappointed at the lack of customer service and was very surprised that no apologies were given for the late seating, quite the contrary the manager on duty, was verbally rude and extremely impolite to myself and my son about my daughter. The entire dinner party was made to feel uncomfortable. We had planned the timing of the dinner seating around the 84 year old diabetic eating schedule. We left after the main course, as the afternoon had been ruined and the older people in the group didn’t feel they had sufficient time to eat desert. We gave no further thoughts to what had happened. Sometimes bad customer service occurs, and unfortunately customers do not always receive an apology. To our surprise and upset, later that evening the duty manager send my daughter; a paying customer an unsolicited, aggressive Facebook message blaming us for not accepting the wait. The message was rude and extremely unprofessional and not what my daughter or my family expected to receive. My daughter didn’t respond to the messages but they kept coming; 4 messages in total. Not once did my daughter respond. We realised and was extremely concerned that the manager had committed a gross Data Protection breach by using customer supplied data to make unsolicited contact via Facebook I will think again before allowing any member of my party to give personal information to any restaurant or pub, as before you know it they may contact you sending unsolicited messages. The Crown duty manager committed a data breach yesterday. There can be no excuses for this!

Really nice food and they fitted us in even when they were busy. Lovely place with a good buzz and atmosphere.

We visit this country pub regularly and always enjoy our time here. Sadly we have never posted a review to say just how much we enjoy it as is often the case ( people tend to feel the desire to a post a review if they have had a negative experience rather than a positive one) . In these difficult times of our pubs recovering post Covid and with many extra challenges ahead , I felt I couldn’t just sit back and not review the lovely lunch my husband and I both had today . We had a very friendly welcome as always from Ben, the landlord and the bar staff on our arrival . I chose the boozy steak and Pedigree pie , I can honestly say it was the best pie I have had and accompanied by superb freshly cooked veg - a rarity these days - ( carrots , “ French type “ green beans , broccoli , peas and a choice of new potatoes with butter or chips ) .My husband had the hand carved ham and eggs etc which also he loved and said he would have again next time ! We have enjoyed their Carvery roast meals on many occasions- they are served on a Sunday lunch and Tuesday evenings .. very good value for the quality of the meats and great choice of vegetables. We look forward to many more visits ahead .

After moving to the village last year, we have sampled our villages eateries with gusto! However, by far THE BEST is The Crown. Superb food (steak nights are excellent value and always served to perfection) great prices and a wonderful welcoming atmosphere!
