The best restaurants in St. Mary's Monmouthshire South Wales

I booked a table on the 13th of February 2025 ,To celebrate Valentine's Day as the website said it wasn't open apart from Thursdays. As this used to be one of our favourite restaurants, we decided to plan everything around this 7 pm booking. A few days before I received an email asking me to confirm this booking as I booked it last month, I confirmed it and then I received another email confirming the booking themselves. So on the 13th, me and my partner had such a lovely day exploring Wales and was looking forward to ending our day with a Bang and to our surprise it was shut. No lights on, no one around to ask, complete darkness from inside. I rang the telephone, heard it ringing from the inside and nothing. Massively disappointed us yesterday and it is such a shame as we really enjoyed the food there. Completely ruined our valentine's day, I believe we are due some compensation or a free meal before EVER going back there.

Worst Italian meal ever. Can't usually go wrong with an Italian, but completely underwhelmed. Shame, as a beautiful venue. Meal wasn't good at all, and expensive at that. Never again.

Amazing pizza, staff and atmosphere. Really good gluten free pizza too, and providing for allergies.

Not great. Fella behind the bar is extremely unlikable

No atmosphere but we're there very early....my friends meal they enjoyed but mine was not good the spring rolls were like something from Iceland and my egg fried rice was just stodge...not pleasant at all ...shame really ..

Stopped in here for breakfast which was very good. Wanted to do a review because the lady behind the bar was so lovely and especially kind to my daughter even writing to the kitchen so they brought her out egg and soldiers - thank you - great customer service. Decor was pleasant and had a good feeling, nice covered area out the back which will be a nice place to sit in summer, and everywhere was immaculate.

We booked a table for 4 people using a Groupon voucher for Saturday 13 April 2024. I phoned to book a table on the 7th of March. When we arrived at the restaurant it was closed. A sign on the door said it was closed for 4 to 6 months for a renovation. We had not been contacted at all and we're forced to go elsewhere. I tried to contact them by phone and SMS but no reply.

Bought a groupon voucher to attend here for a surprise Birthday meal, booked a table a week in advance. Arrived to find the restaurant completely closed, there was no attempt from the restaurant to contact me and let me know they were closed. This completely ruined what was meant to be a nice Birthday meal and to top it off I am now out of pocket as we had to get a last minute table in another restaurant and have to wait 2 weeks for Groupon to issue the refund! Definitely do NOT recommend!

Large bright and airy, that sums this place up really. Great disabled access too. Excellent staff very friendly and welcoming. Lots of indoor seating. The food is not very much more than Greggs price wise but way better quality you can't go wrong.

Popped in with my mum for a coffee and I must say it was lovely. Fantastic service from the two working. Tegan and a young lad, unfortunately didn’t get his name. What assets to your team they are. Will definitely return☺️

Stayed in accommodation above doesn’t say anything on booking.com about load music being played till early hours absolute joke no need for it at all on a Tuesday night aswel 🥱🤯

Running late we decided to stop off for a Sunday Lunch on our way back from Newport . Good portions, hot delicious food, friendly and accommodating staff No need to say anything else

Lunch Tuesday 11.2.25. I love fish and chips, and I’ve never eaten better. Huge portion, crispy light batter, so tasty, perfectly cooked fish, and lovely chips. Amazing value, great staff too, attentive without being overbearing. Cant wait to go again. X

Honestly really good fish, really good chips and good curry sauce. Highley recommend this shop, can't find any fault with there food or price for quality

Had lunch today with family. Service was great, prompt and not over bearing. I had soup for starter and George burger. Both were amazing and hot, fresh and very nice. Daughter had whitebait and curry. She loved whitebait and said curry was nice. Our third family member had garlic mushrooms and club sandwich. It was huge! Overall. With 2 drinks each, I think it was a fine experience and very reasonably priced.
