Supposed to get a 20% discount for a couple of coffees with NHS app for August. They refused to honour it. I have been many many times before we won’t be back. It’s embarrassing, I should not have to argue for a little discount that I am supposed to get.

Chepstow has suffered greatly from the demise of a balanced shopping experience - an experience that has become quite tawdry. As a result we tend to use Cribbs - warm, clean, easy (disabled) parking and out of the inclement weather or Amazon. Or if we want a town experience we drive to Malmesbury. This though tends to suffer from an excess of dog excrement on its pavements which inevitably is transferred to my car boot via my wheelchair wheels. We needed to visit the opticians and M&S in Chepstow on this occasion and found that the former had curtailed parking to one hour - difficult when one is disabled - and not quite what one expects (its normal to expect three hours) or really customer ficussed - but at least they have proper checkouts with real people. The optician proved extremely helpful and we did find a disabled parking space not too far away. Difficult to get out of though when it came time to leave. As we had a good half hour to kill we decided to grab a coffee and as we always use Coffee one in Malmesbury we decided to give it a go here in Chepstow. Bit of a disappointment though: coffee reasonable - pain chocolate good - cleanliness shocking - especially with COVID and flu on the increase. No excuse at all - and I watched an operative piling up used crockery and other assorted detritus into a plastic bowl completely ignoring the muck left swimming on the table. Null Point.

Coffee is good but the food is terrible. The panini’s and focaccia look nice in the display case but they are microwaved which then makes them limp and soggy. The microwave turns the tomato filling into molten lava and by the time that’s cooled the edges of the focaccia are hard. Who microwaves bread? Definitely the worst breakfast in Chepstow.

Dirty. Staff standing around not noticing dirty crockery piled high all over tables. Wiping their sweaty foreheads with hands before serving coffees. Made me feel sick. If I hadn’t had a huge queue behind me I’d have mentioned that it’s common sense and basic hygiene not to have the same person taking money, messing with her hair before touching paninis with her bare hands. Just not right at all. I didn’t enjoy my over priced panini as all i could think about was her sweaty/money hands all over it. Won’t be returning sadly.

Our coach trip took us to Chepstow on a Wednesday afternoon. Most shops were closed but luckily this coffee shop was open. The staff were working very hard, but it took a long while to be served. The tea could have been hotter and the tiny milk jug had a bad crack in it. I would have taken it back but the queue was very long! The cappuccino was lovely, we decided against cakes as the slices at £3.50 were not very large. It was quite large inside so plenty of seating with a few outside as well. The other closed coffee shop were missing trade!

Absolutely atrocious place. Everything is filthy! The cake was stale too! The tables were mountain high with dirty dishes. I have been here for Twenty minutes and each customer is moving the plates, trays etc to an already full table, to make room to sit down somewhere. I would NOT recommend a visit. Filthy

Despite the slow service I like this place. Actually I like it a lot. It’s much better than some of the other coffee #1s I have visited. But....The place is like siting in a sauna today so I asked the one waitress (barista) if they could open the front window. Her eyes just rolled, looked at me and said when the people move from the seats in front we possibly could. I suggested they may like to be asked if they would like the window open (Baring in mind it is still like a sauna and possibly now a steam room!) 10 minutes later, I have finished my coffee, no one is sat next to the window and it is still shut. And the Waitress has a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp....If you do not want to work in customer service try another job...

Situated in a prime location at the top of St Mary St - a paved street of mainly independent shops and cafes - Coffee#1 is a decent stop off point for a drink and perhaps a snack. My wife and I regularly have a coffee and perhaps either a bacon butty or cake when she has been shopping. Have been here a few times and each visit has been different - sometimes there’s a long wait, sometimes a short wait, staff could be moody and disinterested or very attentive, coffee can be excellent on one occasion and poor on another. Nice enough place to sit outside but the inside furniture is pretty worn and needs replacing. Good points are that they offer a good selection of cakes, snacks and fresh juices, etc and they are not overpriced (if you go after 5pm they are often reduced). Overall, it leaves you wondering what you’re going to get as very disjointed so maybe the manager could address this?

A very uninspiring coffee stop after a very hot day with my partner and her family. The waitress looked bored and disinterested and clearly didn't have a great ability as a barrista. First time visiting a Coffee#1. I’ve heard good things about these coffee shops and my partner says they’re good so was willing to give them a go. Decor is nice, the place was busy which is always a good sign. My girlfriend had Apple and Cinnamon Tea and I went with a Fresh Orange. She loved her hot drink & the juice was ok. She the had a Blackberry and Earl Grey Cake and I went with a festive mince pie. Both were tasty. Only downside that it cost around £12 which is steep for what we had. There was a 40p charge for a tiny squirt of cream which was a little excessive. If prices were a more reasonable The would score a little higher.

The cafe itself is a really nice area to relax, read, chat to friends or just bask in coffee shop vibes, I just wish their coffee was up to scratch. They have all the ingredients for great coffee; carefully selected beans and good equipment, it's just a shame they produced one of the worst flat whites I've ever tasted. The foam was non-existent and the milk scalding hot and espresso poorly extracted. It was rushed when being made with little care being taken in the process, just an eagerness to get it over with and get this customer out. In all honesty I had about three sips and then walked over to the Costa opposite for a marginally better brew (and that's saying something as I usually avoid Costa and big coffee chains like the plague). So all in all a pleasant atmosphere but terrible coffee, which is a shame. Just a little more care, better training and perhaps employ some staff with more of a passion for coffee.

Located on the corner between vehicular and pedestrianised streets, Coffee No1 is in the heart of the town centre and easy to find - it is rather like all roads lead to Coffee No1 rather than Rome!. In spite of the large floor area it can (and often is) very crowded throughout the day, perhaps a sign of its popularity with locals as well as visitors. Don't be put off if it looks crowded when looking through the window as there is more seating behind the serving area. The quality of the standard coffee is good, although I found their special of the month (or whatever) not quite to my liking. A good (but not excellent) wifi signal keeps people in touch with the outside world if you are by yourself or conversation between you and your companion(s) dries up!

We chose this coffee shop because of the good reviews but were not at all impressed.Just 2 people ahead of us in the queue, but we were waiting over 5 minutes to be served. It didn't help that one of the three staff was on the phone for part of that time. But the worst aspect was the loos. Firstly, there's no sign at all, so you have to look all round the cafe and then pick a possible door (the one just marked 'fire exit'). Then the men's loo had no paper towels and my wife said the loo roll dispenser in the women's was jammed. We went to Costa, which is just opposite, later in the day, and that was vastly better all round.

Gradita sosta in questo caffè pub che rimane in angolo in centro, personale molto gentile, buoni i tramezzini.

This coffee shop has a nice, friendly atmosphere and is very popular with families with young children. I enjoyed the latte I ordered but I found the ordering system annoying - I walked up to one part of the counter where three staff were standing, only to be told I couldn't order from there (despite no-one being at the designated ordering section). I felt a bit silly moving along and repeating exactly the same thing again to the same person again. But other than that I thought it was much better than the other coffee shops in Chepstow.

Really great coffee and service with a smile - every time :) Nice selection of sandwiches, cakes and pastries too but the coffee stands out.

First ever visit to a Coffee#1 and won't be the last. Far better than Starbucks, Costa etc. Range of drinks was excellent as was the eats on offer.

A fairly historic site situated by the side of the Newport to Brecon canal. Interesting to have a look around/walk the towpath and then enjoy a light lunch and coffee.

Due to stay here after a gig in the castle on the 17th of August. The day before, had a message to say that our room we were due to stay in had been flooded, and no other rooms were available. This had been booked since January, so why it was specifically “our”designated room I have no idea. Multiple attempts at contacting them by phone have failed. No other hotel rooms available in Chepstow at such short notice, and has resulted in us having to book a hotel out of the area and booking taxis there and back, so a lot of extra expense. Highly suspicious and extremely poor customer service. Think twice before booking here folks

Large bright and airy, that sums this place up really. Great disabled access too. Excellent staff very friendly and welcoming. Lots of indoor seating. The food is not very much more than Greggs price wise but way better quality you can't go wrong.
