Guessing new owners have been visiting this pub for a while never go there again staff not very friendly or help full menu plain as day place dull no wonder there no a customer in sight

Great pub. One of the best pub doors I have ever seen. And I've been in some pubs..

The people at this pub are the nicest people you will meet while traveling in wales. We were lost trying to find a cab to take us to our residence that was outside of monmouth. We were in the pub for a few drinks and asked them if the could help us out finding a cab. There was no one willing to drive us because they had already finished their shifts (this was around 4pm 😓). As it would have taken us 2h on foot with all our luggage, one of the owners was soooo kind to drive us himself. We could not believe our luck. We want to thank him again for helping us out in such a big way. We hope to visit again some day 🌻 all the best of luck to the future of the nicest pub in wales.

No food as waiting for new management but great pub very atmospheric goof range of drinks beer garden

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered a roast which tasted lovely there was lots of meat and variety of vegetables and proper roasts not frozen ones good value for money

Hearty turkey roast, staff were welcoming and friendly, food was hot, fresh and decent portion sizes.

During a visit to Monmouth for shopping and leisure, we popped in to The Robin Hood Pub for Sunday lunch. We received such a warm and friendly welcome! The staff were lovely and welcomed Arch our Beagle (well behaved dogs are allowed in) The lunch was really great - very plentiful and tasty. There was plenty of room to sit comfortably and we didn’t feel rushed in any way. We will certainly be going back!

Like my real ale and The Rev James was a welcome surprise. Not available all the time. On one of our visits, we had a burger in a brioche bun, loved it, but the kitchen was not always available.

Having visited last year , we are back again . Staff were friendly , atmosphere was great . The food was fantastic ! whilst they didn’t have one of the groups first choice , the menu had other options so we all had something we wanted . Portions were substantial & well worth the price of the meals . All food was hot & served in a timely manner . The onion rings were amazing !! Would recommend !

Firstly upon arrival we had to wait to be served as the person working the bar was busy scrolling his phone, When we finally got served was disappointed that the menu had items “you no longer serve”, Then when decided what we wanted to eat items weren’t available! Eventually chose our meals Mine being the hunters chicken which to be honest wasn’t great the peas were cold! My husband ordered the robinshood stack! Not entirely sure what was stacked about it as it was a beef patty dripping with oil and a rasher of bacon! The chips accompanying our meals had been cooked in dirty oil! You could taste this! Nobody approached us to ask how our food was and nobody was at the bar to discuss this with! We left leaving a majority of the food on the plates as you will see from the pictures I’m about to send! Went for a Sunday carvery however all the pub is dog friendly. Food ok but you will have to share your space with dogs slobbering and slarvering at the tables. To encourage more customers would it make sense to cater for all by having a no dogs area? I can understand why not as sure as night follows day the dog owners would want to go in the no dogs bar. Food was fine.

So welcoming, food is fresh , generous and this is the first restaurant I have left in a long time and want to go back! Sunday carvery I will be returning to have all cooked from fresh and homemade Yorkshires 😋 definitely returning! Thankyou ! Value for money!!!

Well worth a visit just to see the front door. It is outstanding.

On this occasion the Sunday carvery was a disappointment, previously we enjoyed it but this time the food was only warm and I prefer my vegetables to be cooked thoroughly whereas they were still hard. Staff were very friendly.

Me and my wife went into the Robin Hood for a drink on Saturday evening the drinks and atmosphere were great. The manager approached us and said that we had been chosen for a free Sunday carvery for the following day !! He stated that they do this regularly So we went for our carvery which was as promised free of charge the food and service was excellent and we recommend the carvery and will visit again So :- go for a drink you never know ! Go for the food it’s great

Friendly welcome Sunday Lunchtime. Carvery food very good but not hot enough. Maybe catering equipment not fit for purpose. Despite this I would go again.

Lovely ale and Sunday roast in a traditional pub atmosphere. Doesn't get any better than this. Wife didn't go much on the cauliflower cheese- sauce too thin.

Small menu that took a while. This is a good thing as it’s great food and you know it’s served fresh. I have an egg allergy and they were very happy to substitute an extra sausage for the egg. Atmosphere was quiet but very friendly and overall very clean. Also has full disabled access toilets. Would highly recommend

Not a bad little pub, good service. Was a bit quiet when we were in there so lacked atmosphere but when we went past later in the evening, the DJ was in full swing and it looked bouncing ha ha

Very disappointed with the carvery. The plates was cold so our food was cold our friend who is a vegetarian thier was no option. We will not be going back there

The website is misleading by offering Vegetarian & Vegan meals - apparently they do during the week - but NOT ON A SUNDAY. Are vegetarians not meant to eat Sunday lunch? The Sunday Carvery is well advertised, but when we asked the chef what the vegetarian option was, he said "There isn't one - just 3 meats on offer - but I could have more vegetables for the same price!!" I was offered vegetarian gravy - obviously made from granules - as not fully dissolved. There is no other menu available on a Sunday either. In over 25 years of being a vegetarian, I have never before not been offered an alternative. The plates were only luke warm, so all 4 meals were rather disappointing. The meat eaters did say their meats were tasty & well cooked, albeit cold quickly.

Sunday carvery No option for vegetarians but advertised on website. Very poor for these days, would have expected more from a recommended pub.

Very good food for the price. Better than we expected from a fairly normal looking pub. Pie and mash was tasty and scampi were big and juicy.

Information on website is out of date. New owners from Sept 2023. They no longer offer a carvery but still advertise on side of pub and the website that they do. Also they now stop serving food a 2.30pm on a Sunday, not 4pm as per website . I did not shout at you or your waitress and I waited quietly for you to finish serving another customer before speaking with me. According to your website I had not "left it too late" to eat. You informed me that you had taken over 5 weeks ago and yet the website contained incorrect information about providing a carvery.

What a great pub, food was great and good beer selection. Friendly welcome from the owners who were both very friendly and have done a great job with the pub, we visited both days we were there and ate both times, curry was great and the pie great. Has a separate pool and darts room which was not busy so we were able to use both days. Overall a great pub

This was the shortest visit ever. We called in for some food shortly after 3pm, only to be told that they stop serving between 3 and 5pm. The barman was very civil. It seems that many places in Monmouth follow a similar siesta. We gave up and drove to Ross-on-Wye for a lovely meal.

Beautiful roast dinner the meat was so succulent,it was the best roast dinner we have had out so far.

Monmouth Skittles Team Ball breakers Club. Wow what can I say was weire at first about this place But after few time going in there getting to know the landloards and staff we make this our meeting place now before heading on to game nights around the Forest of Dean Despite problems with there buffet counter. Huge meals lovely staff worth a visit

Absolutely cracking food, best I've had in ages, nice proper massive fill me up meal, home cooked pub grub. Great hospitality and amenities were fantastically clean. Thank you 👍🍻

Very dog friendly. Had a couple of drinks with friends and our 4 whippets. Plenty of other people in there with their dogs too. Nice little outdoor area out the back.

It was very Quiet on our Last visit here,had only a couple of Drinks, Butty Bach particularly was an excellent pint,can't comment on the food,didn't have any,but the well behaved dogs in there,seem to enjoy their treats,K

Went to the Robin to see my friend play....I met mates there and had a good time

Popped in for 1 afternoon drink on our walk home. Absolutely awful place! Disgusting behaviour from the landlords, especially the man. Threatening and verbally abusive behaviour towards my child and husband. Clearly a bully! Such a shame as it’s always been such a lovely, family friendly pub. Let’s hope it changes hands soon. Stay well clear!

Really disappointed to get here as looked the best around, only to find it closed at 7.30pm! Would benefit visitors more if you update your open hours on your website to save wasted trips in future.

Very expensive for a carvery Was not worth the £35 for a coke, black currant squash and two carvery.

Stopped looking for a cafe for breakfast and found this place right next to the car part. Had a great “all you can eat breakfast” for £8 pp which was fantastic! Staff were lovely and it was bonus to find in the ladies a complimentary basket of essentials, including sanitary products, hairspray and deodorant as well as hand sanitizer products. Well done ⭐️ will definitely visit again if we’re in the area .

Came here looking for food, what a place , £5 for a carvery. Unheard of, absolutely banging for the money, very friendly Team as well. Sports on telly. 5 star

We dropped in with no plans just looking for a lunch in our way home on weekend break with friends We saw that it was a carvery so a fave of us all we went in The staff were pleasant and we order carvery The carvery was the best we had had with plenty of meat and veg on offer. I think you would need to get there early as it filled up pretty fast Will defo drop by on our next visit to the area

Went for the £5 a head curry night and it was stunning. Lovely owner, great food, good service and amazing value. We wil be back to try the carvery next.

We've passed this place loads of times because it had a few bad reviews.. (Living in Monmouth for 18 months, however popped in for a coffee and bowl of Soup.. Pleasantly surprised. Food was hot and tasty, self-service coffee was adequate. Assuming he was the Manager we spoke to we had a Pleasant exchange and will return for something substantial in the near future. Landlord is an absolute disgrace. Verbally abusive and rood. Food is ok. This man is a vile human. You can't come to Monmouth and think you are better than us all I could go on and on. Please avoid this place also spoke to my wife like she was a piece of poo. All because I left the door open and he said hos food was getting cold. We are all suffering withe the price of fuel mate unfortunately you won't be getting my money again 😢 AVOID GO TO SPOONS BETTER FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE......

went for a meal it was poor for the high price they charge i had pie mash and veg it was a pukka microwave pie,iceland mashed potato.peas and gravy to pour over was awfull also the starter of soup was cold at the bottom all...

Called for a meal on our way back from Hereford absolutely beautiful food and reat reception from the hosts would highly recommend and would definitely go back if in the area again.

Excellent service and food brilliant quality and value for money

Usually when I go to a Toby Carvery or any carvery for that matter I receive very thin slices of meat with a Yorkshire pudding and then it is a free for all on spuds, veg and sauces. Not at Robin Hood Inn, Andy cuts...

Great carvery Sunday lunch with choice of four meats, giant yourkshires, and good selection of veg. Good selection of Wye Valley ales and pleasant, efficient service.

The moment I walked in the place had a good feel. Beautifully kept beer, good welcome and wholesome pub grub. If I lived in town I don't doubt that the Robin Hood would be my local.

I was in Monmouth on the 12th to 14 th but this pub was closed ..and looked as it it had been for a while.

Good ale to be had there. Cosy little place that definitely has history, on the walls/beams too. That front door looks to be 300 years old.

Nice pub friendly staff polite and chatty, regulars was nice and friendly called in to watch the rugby! No food served at this time but we really enjoyed and would definitely call back again and would recommend.
