Brewers Fayre Abergavenny in Monmouthshire

First visit was only for late evening drinks. They were OK - but lady behind the bar was not at all helpful or friendly. Unfortunately we had to visit here also for a lunch. Really horrible falafel-hummus, wet chips and old, dead salad. So please, go to Abergavenny city - there are good restaurants. This is not.

Very poor garlic bread for £3.49. Two VERY small slices. Worst of all was the response from the duty manager - in a very condescending tone I was told 'nothing can be done about it'. The marginal cost of the bread is trivial, and my wife I and will never go in a Brewers Fayre again. I am cancelling bfast for tomorrow morning.

What a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the staff was polite and helpful. The food was hot and plenty. Didn't have to wait long from time of ordering. Excellent. Will be going again for our lunch when out shopping.

Can’t fault it. Staff, food and price all fantastic. Really good time enjoyed it all so thank you. Asked for booth but none so given a massive table to seat ten bless them so truly tried to cater for all diners 👍🏼

Tasteless Katsu Chicken burger with a couple of fries and no slaw. Wife’s meal was wrong and of course came out after mine was finished (we shared). Would give this place a wide birth unless you aren’t too concerned with taste or what you spend your money on.

We ate outside. We had sausage and mash which was quite tasty. There were a number of tables which stayed uncleared during the hour we were there.

I was waiting for 25-30 min after making order. Asked to make fully cooked egg (hard egg) as seen on photo it was not done.

Absolutely gutted as normally have a great service here but I attended with my grandmother and grandfather yesterday, they are regularly there, the place was empty bar two tables and we could see plenty of space so we waited to be seated as the sign said and when after about 10 minutes a man with grey hair came to the computer my grandmother kindly asked if there was a table for 3 and he said “I don’t think I have a table for just 3” and she in response “oh no your joking” as we were looking forward to it and he replies “do I look like I’m laughing” with no expression of a joke or laugh and didn’t make sense due to the emptiness of the restaurant, I was taken back by the attitude and my grandfather was not happy with his family being spoken to in the manner for no reason and said this and walked out and my grandmother tried to apologise as the waiter had made her feel she was doing something wrong with her response, he then sarcastically says “good evening to you to” so I turned around and stated “well you were rude weren’t you?” And he did not reply, I have worked in pubs and restaurants for years and I would never think to give this sort of reply, even when it’s busy and it’s obvious there’s no tables I would never say this? Especially to an older woman who was being kind and no way rude or awkward. I have no issues with the restaurant being full I understand if the people had not arrived yet but I do not understand why his response wasn’t “I’m so sorry but we are completely fully booked” or even offered to try and seat us at all.

I booked a table on line at Brewers Fayre Abergavenny for our Mum’s 92nd Birthday on 24th April, on arrival we were shown to our table to find a Birthday Greetings Card and a bottle of Prosecco all chilled ready on the table from all the team, what a lovely gesture from them, it was very busy but we ordered our food and we didn’t wait long, the food was delicious all cooked to perfection, we ordered desserts which were a good size, all reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and helpful, Mum enjoyed her birthday everything was perfect thank you to all the team at Brewers Fayre Abergavenny, would definitely recommend, we are looking forward to visiting again.

We arrived at this pub. The resteraunt area was maximum 20% full. We was told we can sit outside as there fully booked till 7pm. Guess what the tables were still empty when we left. They told us we can only order carvery outside and nothing off the menu. Once we finished the kids wanted a ice scream. Guess what no ice scream aloud outside. Can't believe this place actually calls itself a family pub. Pathetic.

Unfortunately couldn't get mobile phone reception to use my Blue Light Card in order to generate a code so had to pay full price as they would not accept Blue Light Card on its own.

Had a surprise birthday meal here with 16 people tonight we pe ordered our food and it was out in no time. The service from Craig and his team was 10/10!! Keep you the good work guys 💕

Went for lunch with hubby. Restaurant was quite busy but got served quickly. We both had Sirloin steak which was lovely and better cooked than we've had in many a restaurant and paid a lot more for. Staff were polite, friendly and on the ball. What more could you ask for on a Saturday afternoon when you can't be bothered to cook. Would highly recomnend.

We went there for dinner today and had a fantastic time. We were met by Sophie who helped us with our order and spent the time going through our options. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she was so happy to serve us. We have been here many times and always get brilliant service and a good meal hence why we keep going back. The staff are always happy to help and we never leave there dissatisfied. Sophie, Marcus and the team are a credit to the business. 😁👍

A beautiful place to have a social gathering and to enjoy excellent food and service especially to George who was a great guy

Great food and a lovely helpful waitress called Lauren. She should be training other staff in customer care! Despite the restaurant being short staffed and it was Sunday at 6pm she was patient and helpful. Great food too. Only negative was another waitress who when we first arrived was completely disintetested in helping us find a different table with a comfier seat, as I have a bad back. Would have given 5 stars if this hadn't happened.

I took a party of 34 friends to the Brewers Fayre on Friday 6th December for our Christmas Party. The service was excellant with nobody kept waiting which giving that everyone had different options it was amazing. The food itself was perfect with no complaints. Christmas Fayre menu which was excellant value for money. Many congratulations to ALL the staff involved.

Went here for the buffet breakfast. As far as buffet breakfast goes the food was ok... they are never great... the food is always sat around for a while staying hot... so it was average, as was the choice... what sets this one apart was the staff and the service. They were super friendly and helpful. Great work!

Myself and my husband regularly use this restaurant in Abergavenny. Lovely atmosphere great for parking and friendly service. Tonight for the first time I acquired a problem with my meal. To no fault of their own there was a bone in my steak and ale pie. I spoke to a member of staff who was called Craig who handled the matter quickly and professionally. Looking forward to our next visit. Keep up the good work 👏

Excellent food at Brewers fayre abergavenny alos disabled toilets

Food was okay. Advertised unlimited Yorkshires but then only give you one with your meat, Roasties not crispy at all. Don’t even get me started on the meat. You get 3 little tiny cuts of it nothing more. Awful value for money.

It's going downhill to what it was when it opened. Very dusty everywhere along skirting boards, shelving ... food wise is OK some dishes are very good where others are just so ..

I enjoyed a very fulfilling Sunday dinner and attempted to use my Armed Forces Discount card for my 25% discount but was advised the system has changed and I needed to download the Blue Light App. This was false information and as a result I was not able to obtain my discount. Otherwise the meal was wholly satisfactory but disappointingly I had to pay extra for a hot drink albeit unlimited.

Visted this brewers fayre on sat 12th of Oct. We were a party of 9, 6 adults 2yr old twins and a 6yr old with extra needs.the food was lovely, hot and came all together .the staff on that afternoon were fabulous made us feel very comfortable and nothing was to much trouble, we had a lovely afternoon. The best brewer fayre I have been to thank you ,will be back .

Food was good, no surprises and did the job to fuel us on a long journey. The atmosphere was ok, these places are a bit soulless and even though it looks like a pub, it’s not, it is just a reliable and cheap meal out. Staff were ok, although the girl taking my order at the bar was a little inpatient, not rude but not friendly. Overall a good place to stop on a road trip but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.

I couldn't have any of the set vegetarian options for various reasons and the waitress Emily was super helpful. She made sure I could enjoy a meal with my husband and liaised with the chefs. I am very grateful as I have been places before where they have made a big deal of this and it made me feel embarrassed and unwelcome.Super happy with our experience. Thankyou

We stayed as a group of six next door at the Premier Inn & decided to eat at Brewers Fayre. It was Tuesday night around 20.15pm & therefore empty. I ordered Thai Vegetable Curry - when it came it was rice, some sauce, & 3 small pieces of squash, plus frozen peas (accompanied by red wine). The portion size is what I'd expect to serve to a five year old (& I've not got a big appetite). We decided to order dessert but we were told (without notice) at 21.15pm that the kitchen was closed! The staff were nice enough but had no interest in the business and just wanted to go home. It was a terrible meal - if I'd been on my own I would have walked out. Overall 2/10 - & that's generous.

Never had a bad experience at Abergavenny Brewers Fayre! Got turned away at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon, went to Abergavenny and was seated quickly. The food is always spot on, perfect place to bring the kids and eat as a family that's very inexpensive! Couldn't recommend it enough, thank you to Lilly and the staff that were working for always making us feel welcome.

Sophie and team excellent customer service despite being short staffed . This is my 5th night staying here and the service has never faltered and better than some 4 star establishments . Team always smiling happy and go that extra mile which is so rare nowadays . Highly recommend.

Waited 5 min at entrance, staff arrives with no apology for the wait much of a welcome, says unless we have booked they don't have anything available for an hour, which was laughable as the place was less than half full. BS.

We stayed at the premier inn next door for a few nights and on one of the nights we decided to do the meal deal of dinner and breakfast the next morning. I was disappointed that it was not table service for dinner. You have to queue up at the bar which was very short staffed. One person behind the bar making cocktails whilst also doing the food orders made the wait to order a long time. There must be a better way? The restaurant was very family friendly, meaning it felt like I was having dinner in a school dinner hall. Yes it was school holidays, and yes it was about 6ish but would it not make sense to distribute people accordingly to make sure people can all enjoy their meal? Not looking for silence, I love an atmosphere but the noise was excessive and impacted on our meal. We decided to take our pudding to our room and eat it there instead. The food was below average. Portion sizes were too small and not value for money in my opinion. Breakfast the next day was alright . We didn’t know we needed to book a table as we were not told and this caused some issues but not the hosts fault just a lack of communication between the premier inn and the restaurant on what to tell the guests. Food was as you would expect of you’ve had premier inn breakfast in the past; buffet service. Medium quality and fills a hole. Overall, was just about adequate; not enough to complain but not good enough to go back. The staff are clearly worked off their feet and doing what they can with what they have got. It’s a wider organisation issues which needs to come up with a better plan when staff shortage are an issue.

A stop off here for lunch and I must say the food was excellent and the staff were brilliant considering we were disabled. Definitely better than my previous experiences many years ago!

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour from the manager Marcus, the way that he spoke to two elderly ladies yesterday, leaving them both very confused and upset not understanding what they did wrong telling them that they had five minutes to leave the table, when they had only just finished eating and still had drinks left!! He needs to learn to look after his bread and butter customers that dine every week , because he's already lost my custom, he needs to take a step back and look at his business, dirty floors that hadn't been cleaned since breakfast, menus on the floor etc, and this was at opening time!!! It used to be a lovely place to eat, but after what was witnessed yesterday I think that you are an utter disgrace 😡😡

Food was so small servings mixed grill was like a child's meal

Lovely new build. Very clean and food was delicious. I had the Katsu Curry and oh my goodness it is so yummy! It is probably the best Katsu curry I have had. The chicken is so crispy and the rice is cooked perfectly! Some cheeky red jalapeños in there too!

Always a fab welcome, never to busy food served fairly quickly and a decent potion. A big thank you to all the staff. See you soon.

Not much to say about this place but would not recommend it meat was overcooked, salad was bruised and dry, grilled tomatoes were cols and had barely kissed the grill, glassware was dirty but at least the desert was good

Discovery of this restaurant chain by chance. The welcome is pleasant and the staff smiling. The service is very efficient. Special mention for the spinach, ricotta and squash lasagna. A beautiful and surprising discovery. Very convenient parking.

Experience was cheap and cheerful. The staff really couldn't be bothered.

Very poor service the waitress was huffing and puffing whist we were ordering, she was quite rude to us. The food was bland and we weren't all served at the same time meaning some had to wait quite a long time.

Visited for Sunday Lunch. 6 adults celebrating a senior relatives birthday. We all had the carvery. There was 3 choices of meat, crackling, Yorkshire's, stuffing balls and loads of vegetables topped with a lovely thick gravy. 5 puddings followed with a couple of rounds of drinks. Staff even put a candle in the birthday girls pudding. The food, service and restaurant was all excellent. Thank you Brewers Fayre, Abergavenny. 10 out of 10. We will be back.

Didn't get shown to our table for ages ,then a very quick sit down then told to order at the bar I think they have staffing issues. Food hot and arrived in good time.

Right, my family & I came here for Father's Day. It was a last-minute booking as the place we were meant to go originally cancelled at the last minute. The only reason I'm giving one star is the disgusting behaviour of the staff, specifically the man that brought our food out. The food was ok, not the best but as it was last minute booking can't say much. I believe we arrived at 8pm and our food came pretty quickly, after eating and having a few drinks. We were then told to hurry up and leave because the place was closed at 9pm, it CLEARLY states on your website the closing time is 11pm and 10:30pm on a Sunday, so why on earth was he asked to leave an hour an half before closing?? We spent over £100 just to be treated like that is disgusting. Will not be coming back

Arrived at the hotel on 22nd June 2024.popped into restaurant in the evening and tried to book a table for Sunday lunch.Marcus the manager tried to book us in but sadly no spaces..however he did say ring back in the morning and he would see what he could do..Bless him a man true to his word .Got us a table for midday. Unfortunately we arrived at 11.50 after seeing my father who is end of life care at moment so none of us felt up 2 it..I explained to Marcus the situation.He was amazing .he then gave me a lovely Welsh cwtch and asked if we wanted any food to take away.THATS A Bloody Amazing Manager.1st class in every sense..A credit to your company . I went here with my family for father's day and what a total mix up it was. We had to change our booking to a later time but upon confirming it, we weren't told the shutting time or changes they had made to the menu for that day. By the time we got there and ordered, there was only little under half an hour to finish the food so I ended up not having anything. My parents overheard some of the staff rudely telling people to leave soon because they had closed. All I wondered was why they would let people in so late if they weren't happy with them finishing their food. The staffs attitude was awful and I won't be returning here for a long time. Horrible service.

For what you pay it's excellent. The staff are brilliant and really friendly I love how they treat my parents who are regulars. Carvery is a real winner I don't know how they do it for such a good price

Came tonight on the off chance and even though the pub was extremely busy Nathan the manager managed to seat us , the food was excellent all came out together and cooked to perfection We were checked on throughout the meal and was met with politeness with each member of staff Well done guys excellent service

Been here quite a few times. Service and the staff are always excellent. Polite, friendly, helpful and smart. The food is always great and they cater well for gluten free. The time from ordering to being served is quick. The restaurant is very clean, tidy and the decor is also very good. Would recommend to anybody
