What a find this was, just looking for somewhere for a cuppa. Never had such a lovely hot chocolate, plus the surprise of a mini chocolate ice cream. Oh my gosh, that was not only the cutest thing I've ever seen l, it was delicious. Thanks, we will now go home and tell everyone about it.

Fabulous, tasty breakfast! Delicious coffee, tea pot is a two cup pot. Food was fresh, coffee strong, a perfect combo. And they do cheese with marmite toasties.

I had my wedding reception here. The staff were amazing, they set up the tables perfectly. The food was cooked on site and it was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were very accommodating.

Originally went here because nowhere else open as it was gone 8.30pm. Kind of dreading it being a chain pub due to past experiences with other pubs. But credit where where credit is due the food was absolutely spot on. Staff extremely friendly. Service fantastic and food reasonably priced. Will call again for sure

Chose to try The Pontygwyndy as we hadn’t been there for a while (the last meal was awful) and had been told there was a different chef there now. My daughter chose Kebab & Fries. The bottom of the flatbread was overly charred! It wasn’t layered with tomato, cucumber or red pepper and there were no pea shoots or chopped chives. It was accompanied by the fries and a small side of a cucumber slice, a little bit of lettuce and a few slices of red onion. The kebab meat was tasty though. I ordered the Surf and Turf. Unfortunately they had no steak at all!! So I opted for Steak & Ale Pie. The worst pie ever! It was so overcooked, I could barely cut through the pastry! It was inedible, as it was so hard! As for the tender chunks of beef in a real ale gravy, the overcooking had obviously dried up the gravy, as it was virtually stuck to the sides of the pastry! Very little steak in it. There were no garden peas either! The chef must have been having a really bad day! We told the waitress we were disappointed and she said she would tell the chef again, as he’d already missed items off other people’s meals. There was no sign of an apology from the kitchen. On reflection, we should have sent the food back, but tried to enjoy what we could of our meals. However, we won’t return. Really disappointed with the quality and presentation of the meals.

I recently visited the Pontygwindy Alehouse with friends for a work lunch, and it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal. The food was great, with delicious options that satisfied everyone in our group. Overall, it was a wonderful visit, and I highly recommend the Pontygwindy Alehouse for anyone looking for a friendly place with excellent food. Can't wait to return!
