A perfect place for a little bit of lunch or a cake and a cuppa, especially if you have young kids! The kids corner is perfect to keep little ones entertained. And the handmade baby clothes being sold are amazing, my daughter loves her new dungarees!

The Old Library Community Cafe is a Cafe that I've been to a couple times now that I've been impressed with both times. To begin, they're located a short walk from Caerphilly Castle and right next to a gorgeous park. There's about 10/15 parking spots directly opposite the cafe shared with the adjacent park. Their selection of food, be it cakes or hot food is delicious. The few times I've been I have gone for their Bacon & Brie Panini - It comes piping hot, cheese properly melted with a side portion of crisps and their coffees are made perfectly. They have large wall full of books that you're able to take home whenever you like - but remember to swap it out with one of your own books! If you're visiting with kids there's a kids play area the opposite side of the cafe filled with activities to keep the little ones busy. They also support a small business 'Tiny Giraffe Crafts' within the cafe where you can browse a variety of bits and Bobs. Overall a lovely cafe with friendly staff, I'll defybe back!

I’d really like to give this place a 5 star but I just can’t unfortunately. This place holds many lovely memories from when it was a library and I love that it has been turned into a cafe rather than another building left to rot. However, recently I feel like their prices are very steep. I understand that everything has gone up but for example over £4 for a smoothie is a bit salty. I definitely won’t be ordering one at that price and it’s a shame because they were lovely. Secondly and I think most importantly is the floor is always absolutely stinking. This is an absolute shame because the area for the children to play in is lovely and my baby loves being able to roam in the section but if I know I’m going there I always put dark clothes on her so it doesn’t show up so much. As she isn’t walking yet the top of her feet are always filthy from there, and I mean black. I’m more than happy for her to play in a bit of mud and build her immune system up but that floor is disgusting. Also, it’s not just the end of the day so they can’t use footfall as an excuse because I’ve been there many times first thing in the morning when they’ve just opened and it’s exactly the same. Such a shame because it has full potential of being so lovely in there just certain things massively let it down.

Food was good. Staff forgot about my coffee after reminding. Kids enjoyed the food though.

Fabulous little treasure of a cafe

LOVE this place. Friday night board games is so inclusive and lots of one off games nights each month. Food and coffee is good. Staff are super friendly and it's dog friendly - what more could you want?

The staff are very friendly, and I got served quickly. The menu is fairly basic, but food always freshly prepared. But the building itself felt cold and damp, and in need of decoration.

Myself, sister, nephews and their dog Lola visited the historical Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly. The boys couldn't wait to show Lola the delights of the park. They started with a walk around the gardens followed by some time at the skate park. At lunch time we all headed to the Old Library Cafe. The cafe was quite busy with families playing board games and swapping books at the exchange point. There was a lovely atmosphere and the owners of the cafe didn't mind us bringing Lola in. There was a lovely menu and the boys ordered chips and my sister and I had toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches washed down with coffee. The food arrived quickly and tasted great. The café really felt like the hub of the community. It was very family oriented with toys for babies and childrens toilets. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning again. After lunch the boys spent some time in the playground whilst Lola fell asleep.

What a great little find. It's brilliant if you play board games. I didn't try the food as there is not much there for vegans but I had a nice coffee and tea. Would love some more vegan options in terms of sandwiches etc. Will be trying the Friday board game evening too

Nice little coffee shop next to Morgan Jones Park. Always grab a coffee and a Welsh cake in there before going to the park. It's split in two areas. One for families with small childer and the other which is normal (people not chasing kids around).

A lovely little community centre. We stopped here for takeaway coffee as they were the only place open on a bank holiday recently, the coffee was lively and they had an array of cakes/snacks available too.

What a fantastic place! We had a lovely lunch of toasties and jacket potatoes as well as some kids boxes, the boxes were excellent. There was a great choice for the children and it was reasonably priced. I also loved that the toilets had a full size and a kids size toilet as well as a baby change table. There were also tables which had playpens round and toys for the young children, what a fantastic idea. Really lovely experience and would definitely visit again.

A great community cafe for everyone. 😀

Excellent cafe, with large range of hot and cold drinks and food (jacket potatoes, panini, toasted sandwiches with gluten-free options, pikelets, chips, cakes, bacon and other breakfast options). Proper community feel, with board games to borrow and a book lending library, and lovely staff. We and the dog all made very welcome.

Great place to take kids as they have these play dens with fences which means you can actually relax a bit. Also they have provided nice toys to play with.

Stopped by for some lunch after visiting the castle. Had a cheese and tomato toastie on gluten free bread with crisps. All very nice. Gluten free jacket potato’s and cakes - were also available. Lunch was very reasonable too. Nice community space with books and board games too.

This is now my regular haunt. For boardgames, for time out with the kids, for tea and cake. The staff are super friendly, the food good. The only downside is the leaky teapots so I just ask for a mug instead.

Open area inside, good coffee and cakes and food if wanted. Well worth a visit.

The coffee was very nice, staff are friendly, I asked the gent the type of coffee it was how it was roasted and the notes, he told me medium, he told me the notes also however I cannot recall them. Lady made my drink quickly, wouldn’t pay for the food BUT that’s just me being fussy to be honest, good range of stuff, only recommendation would be some ice lolly’s for the kids as some won’t eat a entire tub of ice cream, great place overall, plus the guy is easy on the eyes and it’s quick service, will come again

What a lovely place, only 2nd visit, first was a takeaway for coffees, delicious. Called in this time for some lunch, spotless and such friendly staff, even when I spilt my coffee, it went everywhere and they were so nice, cleaned up whilst we sat at another table and topped up my coffee for me, thank you. Really nice atmosphere and lovely food, certainly be going back again.

Brought my son in for breakfast because he had an inset day and it was lovely, food was great, coffee was delicious and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. Staff friendly and helpful too.

Yet to try it for food/drinks but I will do soon. Staff are pleasant/helpful and the layout is planned well. The main benefit to me is that they take in coffee capsule recyclables.

Hubble and I had coffee and scrumptious cake. Our 6 year old granddaughter had a snack box which she enjoyed. I swopped a book. Plenty to choose from. n ice treat after an exhausting play in the park. Thank you

My wife and I popped in for a quick bite of midweek lunch and it certainly filled a gap. Yes the menu is not the most expansive in the world but the prices are reasonable and the taste was good. The venue it’s caters for a variety of different clientele and I believe a parent and toddler group was going on when we got there. But if you keep in mind that this a good community cafe then it’s all good!

This is a great café right next to the park - I get quite nostalgic coming in here and remembering it as a library when I was small. What used to be the kids' section of the library is now a nice little play area for toddlers - getting mine to sit still anywhere for more than two minutes is near impossible, so everyone has the best of both worlds! Good hot chocolate and lovely cakes - well worth a visit.

A nice quiet hidden gem with separation from the mini cafe area and the nursery, in result it sounding very quiet. All the sandwiches, baguettes, drinks, treats, cakes and coffees/hot drinks are reasonably price and for being under 16 they even give you 20% therefore I payed about 64p for a Welsh cake. *Hint= you can also connect your music to the speakers if you go on Bluetooth and find it*

Only found out about the old library after going to a group, what a little hidden gem. Always pop in after a trip to the park for a coffee and bacon sarnie with the little one. Lovely play area, or comfy seating area to sit in, food and drink has always been tasty and well priced. Staff are lovely too.

Light, airy and loads of space to either entertain your kids or hide away away from the noise in a comfy chair. Cakes are lovely with vegan options and I was really surprised by how good the espresso is too. We will be back soon I'm sure.

It’s a regular Saturday morning coffee stop whilst my son attends a club nearby. Nice coffee, friendly service, delicious cake, lots of healthy options too. Fab little place for solo visit, family time or couples! Fully recommend!

Some of the staff were really rude to customers.Children were coming in with their parents or guardians for the Easter egg hunt and some of the staff were really rude to them.

I brought my one year old here for the first time for a baby group and it was truly amazing! We then went into the cafe for some lunch and it was really good, super clean, friendly staff and just an all round enjoyable place! Great priced food as well

Automatic door, wide entrance, 2 lounge areas, main seating area is large with plenty of tables, free books to take home, gated play area suitable for babies and children under 3, board games available. Lots of activities during the week. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food service is timely. Two large toilets with changing facilities with spare nappies etc if needed. Children's meals and Gluten Free options. Light, airy and popular. I love it!

We only popped in here for ice cream after playing in the park, but what a lovely little cafe. Shame we’d already had lunch as it looked so inviting. We saw a play area, community clubs, board game library. Staff were very friendly. Want to go back again one day for more!

A very warm and friendly place next to the park. The children’s play area is great and the coffee and food very good and good value.

I took my granddaughter there and we had drinks and cakes. She really enjoyed the time we spent there as you could hire childrens board games for £5 deposit and the staff were more than happy to let you change to other games. There was art work on the walls and there was a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming.

This is a lovely, very friendly cafe. Great for children and babies. Had delicious soup! The staff were really lovely. Perfect after a visit to the castle as the cafe is close to the castle car park.

When riding past the Old library to the surprise that it is now a cafe etc, I was delighted to see insides cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonably priced food, and a great tea selection.

Basic, clean and friendly cafe beside a park. Ideal for a quick snack or coffe and a cake. There is play section for young children with their parents whilst the quieter end provides space for older folk. The food is inexpensive and good.

After walking around the adjacent park and children's play area with our granddaughter on a chilly day we went to this converted building to warm up and have a hot drink. Very pleasant place with good muffins and hot drinks.

A fantastic evening every Friday of cake, coffee and panini-fuelled gaming madness! It's the highlight of my week!

Love this place. It has a gated area where you can put your kids to play and know they won't escape. Food is tasty. Really good place to stop.

We take our young granddaughter here fairly regularly and always enjoy it. There is an enclosed section for young children and a larger area for adults and older families. There are regular organised activities. Prices are very reasonable. A very good facility.

Called in there this morning and had a cake and cup of tea and my daughter had a toasted teacake and a coffee. The service was good. The food was lovely and i notice they have a play area for small children in one end which is sectioned off from the adult area up the other side. I think this is a brilliant idea because also just outside the door is the park with all the swings, slides etc for the children so you can make a day of it by walking around the castle as well.

I think Caerphilly so needs this place. Had a special birthday coffee and cake with the family and it dawned on me that it is so great to have a place like this in Caerphilly to just hang. Next to Morgan Jones park too. Had an amazing cinnamon coffee a sandwich and slice of yummy orange cake. Lovely and so child friendly. Good service and friendly staff. Take an old book with you and exchange it for one of their selection.

I would not go here to meet a mate, but I would if I was in the park and thirsty. Its quite depressing, and the food was not good, I had a very dry cake that probably sat there for a week, literally did not want to offend anyone so gave it to my kid who eat it all !

I came for a visit for a drink with family and too feed my grandson, service was quick, drinks were hot and the high chair was clean, staff were friendly and the atmosphere was jovial, would recommend visiting this establishment to anyone out and about in caerphilly.

I visited today with my Aunty and my 3 year old son and stayed for just over an hour. I noticed when I returned home that I had left my engagement, wedding and eternity ring on the table whilst there when I had put on some hand cream.

The Old Library is a great community facility and cafe that is ideally located to play with our granddaughter in the park and then enjoy a coffee. The staff are pleasant and the layout relaxing. Great for a half hour chill out

What a great day , Easter egg hunting and a great atmosphere with all the children laughing and enjoying themselves . The coffee is excellent and the staff are very friendly . A nice choice of snacks and cakes available . A great place to stop and right in the park . Wonderful .

What an horrendous first visit to this place. We called in because we had read the advert about an Easter Egg hunt, which appeared to be £2.50 for one sheet of A4, so we didn't bother. The decor, setting, coffee & cake were wonderful, but all destroyed by noisy families taking over the entire cafe, rather than just one table each. The toilet was permanently occupied & stank of disgusting nappies when I finally got in there. My wife gave up & went to Morrisons instead to use their toilet. It quietened down by 3pm, so that we could read, but there was a toddler doing the rounds saying 'you're fat' & 'hello fatty'. It seems he belonged to one of the people behind the counter. So we said 'that's rude' walked out & will never be returning. What a shame.

Fabulous cafe. We visited on a Saturday. Large and spacious building. Warm and well lit with natural light, even though it was cold and overcast outside. Staff were brilliant and helpful. Good coffee. Good sandwiches. Good baked potatoes. Not set up for large volume of lunches, but great of a cuppa and a cake.

I recently came here for tea and a catch up with a small group of girls and my 2 year old son. We were served very quickly and the tea and toasted tea cakes were bought to our table swiftly. The tea came in a cup & pot for one along with a separate milk. The cup was a really good size (I like BIG cups of tea and i wasn't disappointed!) I think I had 2 and a half huge cups of tea from the pot, perhaps even 3!! The teacake was a good size and came with a really good portion of butter (3 or 4 wrapped butters). My son and I shared the teacake, and we were both very happy! Whilst there, I used the baby changing facilities - nothing to complain of - clean and tidy. There was a lovely basket of wipes/nappies for anyone getting caught out! A really thoughtful idea. There was a good sized play area here, however we didn't use it as they day we went it was a baby morning (Tuesday, I think it was) and being a slightly boisterous 2 year old, we stayed away from the slightly more vulnerable little ones! It looks well stocked and clean and tidy and was gated for safety - again, a really good idea.

I come here quite often with my little girl and have done since my maternity leave started. I often meet friends and new mums here for coffee/chats etc

Simple food, cheap prices, area for little children to play. Tiny toilets to help tiny potty trained children do their business. Board Games can be given for a 5 pound keeping (returned once the game is returned). Clean.

Children are welcomed and catered for & the Easter egg hunt was fab, coupled with the fact we could have a beautiful coffee and a cake meant we would be back for more!

We have been here several times as a family and I have visited when attending Cook stars cookery classes with my daughter. On all occasions the staff have been friendly and helpful. The coffee and cakes are lovely and my daughter always heads straight to the fridge for sandwiches and cheese..a great little gem particularly in the summer months for a snack etc after visiting the park. Would thoroughly recommend....

Stopped off at library for coffee & snack on way home from shopping, coffee really lovely, hot & large mug. The only problem was the wait for food. Have now visited a few times & always have to wait ages for food. 40 mins last time for bacon sandwich! Ladies are lovely but need to either get more help or try to be a little quicker. But, a nice place to have a coffee & a lovely idea to use the library.

On a rainy 'summer' holiday Thursday I was looking for somewhere to take my children (16,11 &1) where we could enjoy a light snack but was child friendly. My sister suggested The Old Library and Im so glad she did. A spacious place with a real community/family feel.

Visited for the first time around 4 months ago, now it's a place I go for coffe most days to work rather than go to the office.

Was rather disappointed on my last two visits.

Coffee and cake of reasonable standard but this venue could do with a really good clean. Long queues when placing order. Fairly reasonable price.

The transformation from library to a fabulous multi use community facility has to be seen to be believed.this project should be supported by Caerphilly people.there is something there for all ages-superb

Spent a couple of hours here with family, we have Paninis, toasties, cakes and drinks, all were nice enough. I did like the fact that the mugs were quite large.

Lovely staff and surroundings, clean facilities, delicious cakes and generous tea/coffee servings. Great place to call in before/after visiting the park next door and also has a gated play area for little ones which is fab for entertaining toddlers and allowing you to have a slacking cuppa. Looking forward to our next visit.

Popped in on a recommendation from my brother who lives locally. Really pleased with my very tasty lunch and coffee! Cheaper than I thought but didn't compromise on quality - would recommend to others. Jane was really lovely and I was impressed with her arty books advertised at the back of the store. Will be coming in again. Might be hard to find though - the satnav missed it completely!

Stopped in while visiting family and had a gingerbread latte. Mug was very large for the money paid and the flavour was spot on - just as good as any high street chain. Really nice to see local craftspeople displaying their products in the shop and the community vibe was clear throughout the shop. Couldn't help but notice the large selection of board games behind the counter - this must be a fun place when events are being held! Would recommend.

The old library is near a park which is suitable for children and adults. You can have nice walks around this park and stop in The Old Library for food and drinks.

The Old Libaty is the best addition to our town in a very long time. It literally caters for all ages and thestaff are so friendly and helpful.

First visit today, stayed 4 hours, great coffee in bucket cups, lovely home baked cakes. Clean, warm and relaxed. I have a toddler and I was surprised at how child friendly it was with a dedicated area so that the sensible adults can have some peace and quiet away from the children playing. Play kitchen and shop along with lots of books and toys. I understand a partition is going up to stop wandering toddlers heading for the door which would be fantastic. Will definitely visit again, can see it becoming my go to destination for weekly catch up with my friends. Support the cafe as its an asset to the community!

We regularly visit the Old Library, where you are always warmly greeted by friendly and efficient staff. The coffee is really good and the homemade cakes, tray bakes and Welsh Cakes are delicious! Visiting with two young children, there is much for them to enjoy, with dedicated space and many toys to play with. Locally sourced suppliers, great value for money and tasty treats makes The Old Library one of the best places to enjoy coffee and cake in the area!

We popped in to have a coffee but ended up having a panini and soup. Both were really tasty we wouldn't say it's the best place or food in the world. But it's a nice relaxed environment where kids can easily play. Also the staff are really friendly and smiley, which is always nice to see.

Went here had a slice of cake to share which was overpriced . But main issue was that my hot chocolate wasn't a full cup there was big gap at top of cup and wasn't cheap anyway we were only ones in that morning and place had no atmosphere. Sorry

A warm, friendly atmosphere with very nice & helpful staff. Coffee & cakes here are gorgeous! Also a fabulous bring & borrow library scheme & brilliant for children.
