Ate here for 1st time last night.
The food was absolutely delicious.
As it was a Sunday they do a special menu all for £14.95.
It has a great choice.
Poppadoms, then a starter of your choice & a main course with either Naan bread or rice.
The staff we very friendly and attentive.
Had a lovely atmosphere too.
We look forward to a return visit.
Food was awful
Raw sausage
Eggs were very overcooked on the bottom and raw on top
Black pudding was undercooked and cold
Coleslaw was not crunchy and tasted old
Bought some cakes . They were ok but bought a can of coke after opening it and starting to drink it found out it was 5 months out of date . To late to take it back as was in the car on the way home
Wow - what a great place! On previous visits I hadn't been sure whether to visit (all down to my perception from the outside), but I'm so glad we did. Good choices of breakfast which were incredibly good value and large! I had the veggie with a side of crispy bacon - probably the best Glamorgan sausages I've ever had, and the bacon was perfect. Service was so friendly, even to asking me if my bacon was done as much as I wanted it.
Have been to other breakfast places in Brecon on previous visits and had given up on getting a good breakfast, but this is the only place for us from now on!
I had to laugh when I read some of the reviews complaining about everything here being vegetarian/vegan and gluten free - that makes a change! Normally those who need such diets have at most two choices and more often than not the gluten free choice is a cake - i.e. not a choice at all. Well not here and thank goodness for it. Everything is suitable for everyone - yes, everyone can eat vegan and veggie food. For me this is more inclusive and by definition better for everyone.
Now my rant is over on to the food itself. Tasty, wholesome, excellent value and organic - what could be better than that - for both our bodies and the planet. Service too is good with plenty of smiles and the price is not bad either. As for the location well, you're here to learn about the planet and the impact we have on it and how we can help, and eating food like this is part of that. Say no more.
This is definitely our favourite cafe in Hay.
On our recent week in Hay we went most days for coffee, brunch or lunch.
The food is delicious, using locally sourced ingredients as much as possible.
The staff are friendly and attentive without being in your face, and it has a lovely feel to the place.
It can be a little noisy when full particularly if you are seated in the middle but otherwise what a breath of fresh air.
Great room, light and bright looking out over the Castle grounds.
Brilliant to be able to take our Cocker Spaniel in too.
