The best restaurants in South West Scotland

I feel the seating arrangements could be better and the customer entrance more attractive, but apart from that, it's a Costa coffee house with the usual fayre and freindly staff.

Great wee bar with a good selection of beers. Friendly staff too.

This place is good food but no parking on site but nearby but the prices have taken a big increase since the last time I was here £5.95 for a sandwich and quite small so 2 sandwiches tea coffee and 2 scones £21 43

Excellent italian Food. Beautifully cooked. The chefs cooking is the best in the area. Very nice relaxing atmosphere in this place brilliant restraunt.

Been to hamilton Carrigans many times. But sorry to say last night 10/11/24 was not the best. Service and staff were both wonderful. We ordered our favourite southern fried chicken and had skipped lunch to leave lots of room for the good portions. Did not have to wait too long and our mains arrived (no starters). Chips looked and tasted fab. Wish the same could have been said for the chicken the coating was very crisp and hard and the chicken very dry. My husband jokingly said he was going to ask for a steak knife. We did not say anything at the time and just eat it as we did not have time to wait around. When the waitress came to clear the plates I quietly advised how disappointed we were. And she apologised asking if we wanted anything else, Which we declined. We were not wanting money off or looking for a free meal, we did not want to cause a fuss. Just to give some polite feed back, fingers crossed this is just a hick up.

Arrived at cafe approx 1.00 pm, party of four. We adhered to the ‘please wait sign before being seated ‘ for couple of minutes and no one came so as there were empty seats we proceeded to sit down. Shortly thereafter a young girl , waitress, appeared and began chastising us while literally throwing the menus in front of us. She launched into a tirade about ‘in the future wait before taking a seat the signs are there for a reason’! We accept that you clearly expect protocol to be followed to the letter busy or not. However I think it’s fair to expect to be spoken to in a professional, respectful manner and not an angry attitudinal one as we experienced from this young girl today. We have been long time weekly regulars but after this incident , sad to say will not be returning!

First visit and won't be last. Lovely comfortable restaurant, friendly attentive staff and fabulous menu. Food was outstanding and portions are massive. They even offer for you to take any food you can't manage home in a box. Highly recommended

We booked a Dome so our two wee dogs didn’t disturb other diners. The venue was superb, the food - especially the vegetarian menu - was extensive and simply excellent. I’d eat there every day of the week if my wallet allowed. Great staff. All round 6/5. Ron

Top class in everything, food, staff, atmosphere, location....very hard to beat

Was recommended Carrigans by friends and they were right. Need to book, which I did, for a saturday night. Great menu choice, something for everyone. Did not have to wait too long for our food, considering it was so busy. Food was fantastic. Great portion sizes. Staff were great. Definately would go back and would recommend.

Really good food. Massive portions. Prices slightly higher than similar options, but many, many times worth it. Very broad menu. I’m slightly picky, but each visit I normally get something different. Visited about 20 times now. Always busy for a reason. We try and get here for a monthly treat.

Delicious starters followed by pink roast beef. Speedy staff. I think an open log fire would add to the ambiance, especially with cold weather coming up. Every country pub should have one!

Really nice hotel, well located. Excellent food, but service very slow on our second night.

Good quality food at a reasonable price, first class service

We kept getting told to give this place a try and how the food was amazing. Finally tried it out and wow absolutely top class. Food and service delivered the right way. Staff were so attentive and made us feel welcome. Will definitely be back 11/10.
