Living up to its name, The Hidden Teahouse is reached by driving along a narrow and potholed lane behind the main road in Bothwell. The space is small and intimate boasting six tables. The baked goods are amazing and tea is served in China cups from unusual, highly decorated teapots. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Lovely friendly spot for an afternoon break.

What a fantastic afternoon tea! I had the vegan offering and my daughter normal offer. Both were amazing, great choice of sandwiches, cakes and a scone each. The choices were excellent and all were tasty. I would highly recommend this venue for vegan and non vegan diners.

We were travelling from Manchester to Loch Lomond and prefer to get off the motorway for lunch. The Hidden Tearoom is only a couple of miles off M74 J5 and so fits the bill nicely. As others have said, it is well named and you need confidence to continue when the tarmac runs out. But it was well worth it. We were made most welcome and the food was great.

I came as party of 8. When they say hidden tearoom they weren't joking, I thought I was going the wrong way ha ha, small but comfortable, we all ordered the mini tea, which came with 3 sandwiches, a scone with jam and cream and a pot of tea, the different tea pots were beautiful. The food was delicious, can't wait to go back again, staff very friendly, reasonably priced. I've told my 12 year old daughter and she wants to come with me next time, they also have a great selection of cakes but I was too full from mini tea to try a cake but I will be doing next time. Highly recommended this lovely local tea room, Well done to all the staff xx

Visited today -they were not able to provide the wee tea from the menu due to being busy !! Instead we were offered sandwiches to buy individually with no scones included and charged separately for the teas Order arrived on wrong bread also Manager very hostile and unwilling to please -staff a bit lost looking with no obvious guidance Certainly not good value for money To be charged almost £8 for one pot of watery tea but £10 for another pot of watery tea and two cream scones doesn't make any sense Think you need to look at your menu availability, prices and overall customer service as a fellow customer on exit today came to our table and described her whole experience as hopeless !! All in all very disappointing !! Mrs BR

I took my elderly parents for my dad's birthday and both him and my mum were made to feel a real bother when asking for some menu modifications - for context my dad wanted a plain ham sandwich and my mum a slice of vegan cheese. The older female waitress glared at them, then walked away sighing loudly and shaking her head. I felt so upset that I walked over to quietly speak with her to make it clear how rude she had been...my parents were so shocked at her it really ruined the visit. Where is the need to make people feel like such a nuisance? They really were not being overly high maintenance at all. I overhead an elderly woman at the next table chatting to the same waitress, asking if her particular order usually came with mango chutney - lets just say she wasnt spoken to much more warmly than we were. Its such a shame, the food was nice and the tea room cosy but I would definitely not recommend it purely due to the unfriendly, irritated service. People want to feel welcome and looked after , not like they are an irritation! I want to add that the young female waitress was perfectly nice to us.

I’m well aware businesses are trying to recoup lost revenue but treating it like a fast food outlet meant this was a less than pleasant experience. We’d booked a table and arrived on time. 45 minutes later we were being told they needed the table back in next 15 minutes. I know they weren’t able to accommodate some customers who wanted to walk in without a booking but putting us on the clock to be out within an hour when we wanted to enjoy our tea after our meal gave me indigestion. So if your looking for a leisurely chat over a pot of tea I’d be sure you ask how long you have the table for before they invite you to leave
