had a great meal the food was delicious the ambience was nice and friendly staff were very helpful and friendly will be back

varied choice for all. had to wait 20mins for our table which was booked in advance ,this appears to be a feature at blantyre as happened before and thought would hive benefitof doubt .staff pleasant.food hot and decent portion size .but really noisy,between music in background and close proximity of tables could hear the conversation for group beside us .Will not be back for dinner as the noise level off putting

Marvellous food. Excellent service. Staff friendly. And reasonably priced. What more can you ask for. Well done Carrigans. But I'll have smaller choice next visit, had to leave quite a bit.

Book a table - we couldn't get in as it was so busy!

I have visited Carrigans on a few previous occasions and the atmosphere and service is usually spot on. This time the service was very slow. There were six of us. We sat by the window in a corner Booth which was perfect. Plenty of room. The staff were excellent but took a while to receive our food and one main was completely forgotten about, so by the time we waited to eat together, our mains were cold. Also had to remind them we were waiting on drinks. This was lunchtime and they are always buys but should be able to handle it. The food was however fantastic as usual. One order was fish and chips and the fish was so big it didn't fit the plate, which actually was a nice fish design shaped plate. Everything is reasonably priced. The slow service has not put me off but I'll avoid rush hour lunchtime in future.

Dont usually write reviews or (MOAN).. Second time in a row this place has been very disappointing 😞... So, 3-4 week's ago, my wife and I went out for a steak dinner on the Sunday afternoon. Pumpkin 🎃 Soup for starters, was really nice 👌 For main meal, Ordered 2x fillet steak, potatoes, portion mushrooms and onions and 1 portion onions only🌰, 1 peppercorn sauce, and a COLD 👈glass of Milk🥛 with my meal. Received, 2x mushrooms and onions mixed, (hate mushrooms)🙄 2x Peppercorn sauces, which was enough to make soup.. Smash Potato's pfft.. Powdered potatoes out of a Box Really, 😬🙄 So i asked if they had, ROAST POTATOES 🥔 since it was a Sunday but they don't do them either. No roast potatoes should be a CRIME, especially on a Sunday 😵‍💫 and to finish it off, they brought my glass of Milk with ( ICECUBES ) in it. 🫣🫣...£95 for 2 people.. Went back today,, placed a order requesting for baby potatoes as there other SMASH potatoes are Powdered.. and requested to have my steak served on a hot sizzlers plate, NO PROBLEM i was told, only to be notified 10min later after my soup, that the (guy / chef) that cooks it,,, COULDN'T serve me my steak on the hot plate (WTF) dont do it anymore i was TOLD.. So again didn't want to moan or cause a scene 😑. Dinner came and after explaining to the staff before ordering about the stinking Smash powderd potatoes from 4 weeks ago,,, they brought them again ON TOP of the baby potatoes 🫣🫣 and lastly, ordered mushrooms and onions mixed for the other 2 people and ONLY received Mushrooms with NO ONIONS, and AGAIN i didn't even say anything, hence why ive took the time to write this review... £128 for 3 people...

Always good food, great menu selection. Staff friendly.

Took my elderly grandfather here recently and was blown away by the staff commitment to making sure we were comfy and looked after. The server even retrieved a small pillow for my grandfather who has difficulty standing up now. Food was quickly served and was very happy with the quality and taste. It's clear the kitchen takes great pride in the flavouring, presentation and taste of their food. It was exceptional. Steak pie came with with large chunky pieces of steak with no fat and almost evaporated in your mouth. Chips were crisp, non-greasy and perfectly seasoned. Will definately be back to sample the rest of the menu. The staff and kitchen delivered a memorable evening.

Great place to eat. Big portion sizes. Can get smaller plates on some of the meals. Food is good. Especially the lamb shank. Nice and cozy atmosphere. The staff are friendly.

Great wee night , good food, friendly service and nice vibe. Go to the EK one regularly however first time at this one and will be back 😊

Had a really lovely dinner on the Sunday afternoon, I had the Tex Mex chicken and it was a really big plate of food, will certainly be back

First time visiting Cardigans and I wasn’t disappointed… food was excellent even the ‘small’ portions were huge.. well worth the money. Service was really quick considering it was extremely busy and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Will be returning again

First visit here on instruction from the boss. Adequate parking available, we visited without a booking however we were welcomed and seated without fuss. The boss had steak pie, described as lovely and cleaned the plate, (nearly lifted the pattern off the plate). I chose fish, I'm rarely a fan of tinned peas so I asked the server to hold the peas, she then suggested substituting for 'slaw, excellent suggestion, it tasted freshly made and with the correct mayo and not god awful salad cream (the accoutrement of satan). The fish arrived piping hot and if I were to be hyper critical I could suggest it was very slightly overcooked (I've had previous recurring issues of this at the Hamilton restaurant to the extent it was inedible). Hats off to the cooks, you guys nailed a nice unexpected lunch stop, on this experience we are likely to return. The portions were more than adequate.

Had the Xmas turkey meal and it wasn’t very nice. On a small plate with a piece of gammon which was all fat, 2 small pieces of turkey, one which was very chewy. Lump of mashed potatoes dumped on top, no roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, sprouts or anything else related to Xmas. Very disappointed. Service was very good, lovely staff and nice surroundings but food let it down.

Went on the 16th December for festive menu but once we saw it we decided to use the main menu the pakora wasn't cooked properly crispy on the outside but almost raw in the middle & the potato skins were greasy & not a great deal of taste to them. My husband had the fish & chips but the batter was soggy although not greasy my scampi was a bit overdone but ok although I was asked if i wanted fries or chips I asked for fries but got chips. The service was great as usual but the food let it down we put it down to them being very busy as this isn't the usual standard of food we usually get. It wouldn't put us off going back but wouldn't go so close to Christmas again.

Not good experience in Carragans Blantyre this morning on the board display outside restaurant it says breakfast from 9 to 12 .We went inside at 11.35 am to restaurant it was totally empty waitress told us they don’t do breakfast on a Saturday but why say it and to be honest not over friendly welcome too.Not be back

We had a party of 15, unfortunately they had to split us over 2 tables but it was fine. We were there around 14:30 on a Saturday and the service was excellent. They handled all our orders and the food was great. I did notice they had 2 different sizes of some dishes, which were obviously priced differently but when my son and I ordered fish & chips, at each size, while the plates were smaller, the actual portion size seems identical, so consider what you order. Our total bill was around £350 for 15 people which was spread over some starters, all mains and drinks. Great value and would happily go back

Probably the worst Chritmas meal I've ever had. Only option for veggies on festive menu is macaroni and chips. What is festive about that? It's available all year round! Was told I could order from the main unfestive menu. All the usual uninspiring so called veggie options of pizza or pasta. If you don't like either of those you're screwed! Clearly the chef can't do vegetarian/vegan options as mac cheese on an Xmas menu is not only lazy, it's insulting. Eventually, after insisting that I didn't want pizza and don't like pasta they agreed to do me a jacket potato and cheese, not at the festive price though, oh no, I had to pay the standard menu price!! Jacket potato was supposed to come with the seasonal vegetables as I asked. It came with a few carrot and swede chunks, a dollop of coleslaw and doritos!!! The soup was leek and potato and tiny amount of chilli. Had chilli been mentioned on the menu I wouldn't have had the soup - I hate chilli. The tablet sunday wouldn't have been so bad if the tablet hadn't tasted of the smell of fat. What on earth was that tablet made of or stored in? Including the £5 deposit, the meal ended up costing £27 a head - expensive! The menu is lazy, unappetising, and ill conceived for veggies. I Will not be visiting any Carrigans ever again. Veggies and vegans beware. If you like pasta you'll likely be ok, otherwise look elsewhere for a meal cos this place sucks!! 😡

Was at a xmas party night. The venue is really nice. Waited ages for our dinner being served. told to be seated for 6.45. Our main meal didn't get served to 8.30. A bit late to be eating food. Natasha served our table and she was lovely. 3 course dinner for £42. Prob was value for money but the delay was a bit frustrating. The food was actually OK tho once it arrived.

Our son, Dominic, invited my wife, Dianne and I out for lunch. What a fantastic choice. Our 5 month old granddaughter, Mirren, was really well looked after. The waitress looking after us was polite, charming and knowledgeable. We settled for spicy beef chili nachos starter, chicken burger, peppered burger and fish and chips. All beautifully served, all piping hot. A beautiful, bright friendly restaurant. Bravo 👏.

The best pasta I have ever had, portion size is good and they have some of the best cakes, I would totally recommend coffee& walnut cake.

Baked potato size of a tennis ball with a sprinkling of cheese cost £8.50,wasn't nice at all. Won't be back.

We came with high expectations. Had a grilled plate and the steak had so much fat. The menu said barb que chicken and it was two pieces of chicken tenders on the plate with no sauce, not anything. I asked the waitress and she said they... Dip... Them... In sauce before they fry them. Idk. The appetizer plate had tasty chicken prakora but then potato skins plain with nothing. A little cheese or course salt maybe. Not sure if I would come here again.

We visited here with about 30 people, 4 kids, 1 teenager and baby not only was the food great but the staff were amazing with us! All of the kids got kids meals so they brought them out first which was a massive help and the kids were also very hyper so I’m so happy they respected that. I’m honestly just so happy with how good the food was and how well it ran 🙂!

Nicely decorated warm welcome with very friendly staff. Ordered a mixed starter for two big portion and very tasty. We both had steak pie. Best I’ve ever had. Both of us had an excellent dining experience and will definitely return.

Go all the time and can't fault it in anyway. Nothing comes close in terms of the quality of food and price. Staff are always spot on as well. Best restaurant in Lanarkshire.

I don't know what the halfwits of Blantyre are used to giving this dive 5 stars easily pleased Overrated pub grub had fish and chips, fish was not fresh ,frozen block of white fish the chips were disgusting, not cooked through properly as for the peas a joke really cold and brick hard.yes the portions are big ....but food is rank . Better of going to a chippy

Large portions, cheap, quite cozy interior, tables a bit small, parking lot.

Staff are very friendly and nothing seems to be too much for them. We asked to move table so mum could see out window. Nachos were as usual brilliant and main meals were plentiful so much so noone had room for dessert.

Had a good choice on the menu, to hard to choose what to have, the meal was piping hot & plenty on the plate, the service was excellent was good, will go again . 👍

I would like to say a bit disappointing was giving a menu opted for 2 meals at £10.95 each then the bill comes back charges us £14.50 for each meal apparently we are supposed to ask for a small portion but they assume we wanted a big portion....meal it self was served in less than 5 mins and was more like a carvery if anything definitely would never go back

Been at carrigans on 5 occasions in past month steak pie every time perfect and loads pastry great apart from last visit to bar for lunch it was one of them pastry shell like things that is dryer than sawdust try cut into it just falls apart into wee crumbs absolute rubbish to be honest I had a quiet chat with waitress about it she suggested next time get more gravy pure it over it We decided to come to you place as your computation down the road standards dropped everything brilliant about meal apart from the sawdust cases I understand these pastry cases are pre made or bought in have a wee look into it Try it yourself actually try and eat it they are rubbish and we have no way of telling you are gonna serve that again until it’s on the table

Great service, delicious food and a great price. Server was very helpful and told us the soup and roast if the day. She made you feel welcome and didn't rush you to finish. Checking in everything was to out satisfaction. Would recommend.

What a wonderful place and fabulous food.

Meal was lovely 😍 my only gripe is 2 of us only have an hour and a half but tables of 6 etc have 3 hours. What's the difference 🤔 was only just finished our main meal and bottle of wine and had to move. Does it take bigger parties longer than me to eat meal. 😕 or do you get more money from them so they can stay longer.

We went as a family of 3 as a special treat. Ordered chilli nachos to share,very sweet tasting and watery making the nachos soggy straight away. Mixed pakora was average,sure portion size is smaller My daughter and i were going to order mac n cheese until we asked what it came with to be told NOTHING even though the online menu says chips,salad,or garlic bread? On hearing this we ordered the fish and chips £30 for both,one with batter,the other with breadcrumbs. Tasteless fish,some skin still on it which is a no no from me and the worst thing was the frozen chips.. Carrigans why have you done away with your chippy chips? Big mistake Hubby ordered lasagne and a side portion of chips because that comes with NOTHING on side as well,Nothing to write home about Really don't know how they can justify the price for lasagne with nothing on side,2 mins down the road to the parkville you get garlic ciabatta,rocket and parmesan and also the fish would have been 2 for 1. Hey ho you live and learn,£77 for food and drinks Profit before custom,won't be back Could have had an amazing fish supper from alhambra in bellshill for a lot cheaper. Won't be back,.big letdown. Standards are slipping big time.

Nice place, food good, nice portions. Like the brand, regular visitors to the other outlets, this place is nice but on this occasion I felt the serving staff weren't having the best of days, tho efficient, not one cracked a smile.. hence the lower score for service.

Busy restaurant which lends to a good atmosphere. Although busy, service was quick and friendly. Food was excellent, my steak was cooked perfectly. Loved it. Attended wedding reception, staff were great. Nice buffet.
