The Crib in South Lanarkshire

Welcoming exterior, love the lights. Busy street, on street parking. Staff are lovely & helpful. Interior and furniture is a little dated looking, could be made more warm & cosy. Had scrambled egg & toast. Lovely bread, but the egg was microwaved so rubber like. I definitely prefer my egg cooked in a pan as it was very dry too. Good prices and menu looked well rounded. Entry level food, but good food. I saw an outdoor area, might be nice in the warmer days.

Lovely food lovely place would highly recommend this lovely cafe had breakfast and lunch and both were delicious eggs poached to perfection and the bread they use is absolutely delicious best toasted sandwich I have had served with a delicious salad

Great food from the menu and super friendly service and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Whether for coffee or lunch you will not be disappointed

Popped in while out and about and what a very pleasant surprise. We were only looking for an afternoon fill me up but could have ended up having enough for our lunch AND dinner the choice was so good. Everything was so fresh and well presented by the very polite and friendly staff. Finally settled on the superb rolls with square sausage and coffees, they went down a treat. Looking forward to our next visit to try something else. Highly recommend a visit when in the area....

I would go here again as the service is great, although the food is plain but it’s still some good food. I go to Strathaven academy so it was nice to eat there with my friends 😄

Excellent coffee. Lovely lunches. Great service! Lots of room for prams and a relaxed informal and friendly atmosphere.

The crib is a tea room tucked away from the main town centre but only 5-10 minutes walk away. It is run by volunteers from a community outreach group who use the old west kirk building in the town. The food is plain but very good and on a cold day the soup is always good to go for we had a soup and sandwich deal and finished with coffee. The service was quick and friendly and I'm sure we will be back for lunch some time soon.

This is our second time visiting The Crib and I have to say the service and food was excellent same as last time. This place has a superb atmosphere and just recently opened up a lovely garden at the rear to eat out in when the weather is decent. All in all well worth a visit or two.

Been here a few times for a nibble & coffee whilst meeting with colleagues and also on other occasions with my toddler son. The staff are so welcoming & friendly. Even encouraged my son to help them out tidying up tables etc. Gave him stickers too. Such a kind thing to do and made me not feel so pressured about him wandering about the place all the time. Food is fabulous and the different flavoured syrups for lattes are always going to win me over!

Excellent meal, the burger was the best I've had. Staff are lovely and the decor is quite special. I think it is good value.

Visited The Crib with a friend for a light lunch. The staff are lovely and all very helpful. The food is really nice especially the soups and tbere are alwsys a great selection of cakes. A pleasure to visit.

Out if this world coffee made by Jenni, tiger striping and everything. Had to wait to get a seat because every table was full but can't mark you down for being busy.

Called in without booking.nice staff very friendly.We ordered our lunch which was served really quick with a big pot of tea. Reasonable prices and a good size of meal. Definatley recommend this cafe and will certainly come back

It looks well hidden, but judging by how busy it was this afternoon it is a poorly kept secret. The staff are super friendly, the ambiance is excellent and the temperature is just right for a winters day. The simple menu is full of well sourced and well prepared delights, from breakfast rolls, to sandwiches and soup, burgers and filled potatoes. They are now the third place that I have found (other than all Sainsbury's cafes,) that have unsweetened soy as standard. Well worth a stop when shopping or for a quick lunch.

We've come here a few times for lunch with friends with young children and lunch is always lovely, fresh and great value. Nice atmosphere inside and some toys available for younger children.

Visited for a coffee and bite to eat.Good menu, lovely environment and a great place just to relax and chill out.Surroundings are pleasant, staff are friendly and the seating is lovely and comfy! Just what was needed.Have been back since with my daughter who loves the cakes and will definitely be back.

My family and I visited the crib last week for a light lunch . The food was okay not the best toastie I've ever had , but the service was good and we were served quick but not rushed , would go back but would pick something better off the menu .

The Crib is a smashing venue for adults and children. Warm, friendly staff and freshly made food. Tables well spaced out and we-fi available

Have been to the Crib a number of times most recently, today 27th April and I have to say each time I go it gets a little better. The café area is open and roomy with lots of space around the tables, there are even some couches with tables if you want to have a good slouch. The only downside is it is away from the main town centre and can be easily overlooked which it definitely doesn't deserve to be. The business is a social enterprise run by a local charity and church group though you wouldn't think that as it is run very professionally.The range of food is not huge but what is cooked and served is generally home made and very good. The servings size is just right, enough to fill you without being stuffed or feeling cheated. The staff are warm and welcoming and very helpful, the café has free Wi-Fi which is fast and easy to log onto. The Crib is good place for a quick bite or if you want to chill out all afternoon writing your first novel especially on a cold wintery day.

Great for a cuppa and cake. Reasonable price and friendly service. Family friendly with loads of room for the kids to play.

Warm and friendly staff serving good quality cafe style food. Nice atmosphere and well worth a visit. I mainly pop in for coffee which for me is the best in Strathaven by far. A great little place!!

The Crib is a generally a nice café with a few tables and some good food. I had a nice meal on Monday the 27th at the crib. The food was nice but the hot items were quite limited to soup, Jacket Potatoes, Panini's and toasties. I ordered a jacket Potato with beans and cheese. It arrived promptly and was nice, I would say there wasn't much cheese on the potato and a lot of beans. The place has a lovely atmosphere and great staff. Although I think it is more of a coffee shop than a café or restaurant. The place was nicely decorated and homely. The Crib has free Wi-Fi which is a great plus. The crib is a very family friendly place which I would certainly recommend.Gregg Clark, Age 11

very nice pub, with simple good food (sandwitches, panini, toast and salad) and also lovely dessert and good espresso coffee. It has free wifi.

I had a lovely meal on Saturday at The Crib. The food was delicious and was very reasonably priced. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. The staff were very helpful and were lovely to both my children. I would recommend you to try this restaurant. I will certainly be back soon.

My friends & I visit this coffee shop every weekend. The staff are always friendly & accommodating especially Donald and Alison. The food is delicious, we give feedback to staff when new items / cakes appear on the menu or in the display cabinet, which is appreciated by staff. I wish The Crib & the staff continued success. Great place. Fairly priced. Think Mike F is getting mixed up with somewhere else. Staff are great. Place comfortable. Worth a visit. If you don't go your loss.

I have been to the Crib many times and I'm sure I will be back many more. It's a lovely friendly coffee shop where you can also get food!

Was asked to meet my family there, order for bacon rolls, tea, coke came to about £43.00!I thought maybe they had got 2 tables orders stuck together but no, this was just mine.Think the staff are very quiet and a bit distant.But maybe this was just me being suddenly 43 smackers the poorer.I would not rush back!

The Crib is one of a handful of coffee shops in Strathaven. The food was good and the service welcoming and friendly. They have coffee, soup and sandwiches, and a special (haggis, neeps and tatties that day we went). Food was fresh and tasty. Great local place for lunch or a coffee with friends.

This is now my favourite coffee shop in Strathaven. It's run as a (not for profit) community cafe and provides a fantastic environment with specialist coffees, excellent cakes and an extensive lunch menu. With free WiiFi you can also use the grid for catching up on work over a great coffee.Only down side can be noise. If you time it wrong, you could be stuck with screaming kids running around, therefore a difficult place to chat over a coffee. I wish some parents would respect other patrons in this regard. All in all, it doesn't stop me using the grub every time I fancy a decent coffee in Strathaven.

Popped in while my wife had a stall at the craft fair in hall attached ...Lovely atmosphere n cafe ..very friendly Bacon rolls great and as in a coffee snob the real coffee was a bonus !

This Cafe is a wonderful place to visit, Ideal for mums getting together for a chat, Roddy and the staff are first class at preparing and serving the food, a very welcoming place to stop and enjoy the atmosphere. Excellent value and community spirited.
