The Village Centre Cafe in South Lanarkshire

Quite basic , but its a church cafe run by volunteers. We had xmas lunch. Good to support a good cause

The food at the cafe is fabulous and great value for money. However the elderly lady who works there customer service is terrible. We stay each week after attending a breast feeding group. We approached the cafe and there wasn't enough tables as of yet so we waited for tables becoming available and rather than block the entrance some of us stayed back from the doorway with prams to allow people to exit. When 2 tables became available she was only allowing us to have 1 as other customers needed the table... Who might I add came in later than us.

First visit today, very friendly and fast service. Only had tea but will definitely use again.

My family come her every Tuesday for lunch. Food quality is always consistent and prices are incredibly cheap. Its no wonder that this place is busy every day of the week Highly recommended

The last time i wrote a review about the Village Centre was in 2016. At the time i wasn't impressed and gave them a really poor review. Having been convinced about 6 weeks ago by my sister that both the food quality and service had been transformed I decided to go back. My sister wasn't wrong ! The menu may be quite small and simple but the quality of food being turned out by the kitchen is incredible. The speed from ordering food to delivery table is also impressive. As a result this is now a regular weekly visit to this place where I now bring my 87 year old Dad and my 88 year old father in law for our lunch once a week. Suggest if you want a table that you get there before 12pm as its always full to capacity. On one occasion we arrived after 1pm and it wasn't too busy so think the midday slot is probably the most popular. The icing on the cake on top of the food quality and service is the price. Lunch for three with soup, bread, tea, soft drinks and couple of portions of chunky chips was just under £20 !

Just enjoyed a beautiful Christmas dinner, served by very efficient and friendly staff. The atmosphere in the cafe was very pleasant. Very good value for money we will be back.

I come to the village cafe several times a week with friends and family and cannot fault this place. Excellent value for money, very clean. Staff are always pleasant and attentive. Food is good and always fresh. There is nowhere else in east kilbride that has meals as cheap. The kids meal are extremely excellent value for money and my boys love coming here. Dont listen to bad reviews....some people just expect far to much.....fabulous place. Highly recommended anyone to visit.

They even serve Stornoway Black Pudding as part of their breakfast. Staff were so polite and helpful. Will definitely be back.

Visited this cafe last week for a mid morning coffee and cake. Coffee was smooth and tasty. The fruit scones with jam were delicious. Loved the relaxed vibe and service was warm and friendly. A smashing wee local cafe with a selection of daily newspapers to read over your tea, coffee, snack or meal.

We go here very regularly and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. Most are young volunteers and are so attentive and pleasant. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. The menu is varied and there are always 2 soups to choose from. We would certainly recommend a visit.

I was invited for a breakfast meeting here and was impressed with the quality, service and value for money of the food. The staff are friendly and helpful. The whole place has a community feel about it in a good way, everyone is made to feel very welcome. A great place to meet up with friends.

I have visited this lovely little cafe on many occasions. All members of staff are friendly and helpful. The food is brilliant, excellent value for money, and not at all expensive. A treasure of a place.

I am a fairly regular customer for coffee and lunch at The Village Centre. I thoroughly enjoyed last week a fish tea. Well cooked Fish and Chips which included salad, coleslaw, bread and butter and of course a pot of tea with free refill. Staff are very attentive and friendly. A very welcoming, bright cheery cafe. Has a great off peak special between 9 and 11 when you can get any hot filled roll and a drink or cany cake and a drink for £2.50

Wasn't disappointed. Poached Eggs are fanstastic and served with a smile. Great value for money too. Can't fault it.

Limpio, bien ventilado, con personal amable café. Hermosa casa de pasteles recién horneados. Toda la comida muy fresca y sabrosa. Muchos empleados para charlar y para recoger las mesas y servir. Tuve casa sopa de lentejas y pan fresco hecho crujiente, una verdadera ganga, y la gran parte de Chile fue disfrutado por todos en la mesa!

Me encanta este café de madrugada. Todo el mundo es muy amable y la comida es deliciosa. Las mesas están siempre despejado de inmediato y nunca ningún plato tirado por ahí. Incluso me llevé a mi tía aquí cuando ella era de Canadá y le encantó. Super impresionado en el personal, que dan su tiempo a voluntarios aquí.

Ver que se están quejando la gente sobre este café wee conseguir un agarre. Todo voluntarios que trabajan allí y no tienen que hacer, pero hacer lo que disfrutar. Las mesas están constantemente limpio y aclaro, así que he dicho las mesas siempre tienen platos sucios encima de ellas necesitan especificaciones. La cafetería es siempre impecable una como para alguien diciendo que la cocina está sucio ¿Cómo sé si los clientes no están permitidos en la cocina llena de basura así aye. En cuanto a tiempos de espera de comida bien las cosas se hace así parada whinging. El personal es increíble y muy servicial, siempre asegúrate de que los clientes están contentos y siempre tienen un pequeño chat con clientes y siempre tienen una sonrisa en la cara. La irlandesa que lleva el gorra de béisbol siempre tiene su pelo atado atrás, yo nunca he visto que ella 1 con su pelo y voy casi todos los días. Así personas parada aye quejarse de un pequeño café barato dirigido por voluntarios. Si no fuera por los voluntarios ya no sería un café.

This cafe is the most amazing place you can be all the staff at the village centre cafe are treated like family best prices and amazing cakes the food is also amazing and the staff are always 100% happy with the food and drink they serve I am very happy to be apart of the team :)

Decidimos probar el almuerzo aquí hoy. Ya que ha sido tomada, se ha deteriorado considerablemente. Me había pasado el otro día, y la mayoría de las mesas estaban llenas de platos sucios. El lugar no estaba lleno pero nadie además. Pedí el almuerzo de hoy en el mostrador. La persona que servía era con un sombrero de béisbol, pero su pelo, grasosa que buscan no negras. Su ayudante en la cocina estaba usando un hairnet aunque su pelo era corto. El lugar no parece limpio. Sin duda, no aconsejo a nadie para comer allí. Ciertamente no hasta que su acto. haveccleaned

Friendly staff, good value and nice views over the garden made for a good visit. Good selection of breakfast and lunch items on the menu.

A real community café that is run largely by volunteers some on short term training programmes. A bright, often busy café and if you come between 10 and 11am or 2 and 3pm you can enjoy any cake and a drink for only £2! Beat that! If you're lucky there will be some of the chef's specialty cheesecake left.With all day breakfast available and a range of paninis, wraps, sandwiches, baked potatoes and fresh soup made daily and a good selection of cakes you find something to your taste.

Visited this with my two daughters whilst shopping the the village after a recommendation and we were very pleasantly suprised. Lovely coffee and choice of herbal teas and lots of tempting treats on offer served by friendly smiling staff.

Great café set in aa church in Eastkilbride village across from the theatre.Very nice setting and great prices.

Despite the fact that I'm from East Kilbride, I discovered this place by complete chance when attending a meeting in the Village. The decor is modern and bright, the staff are lively and attentive and the food and drink prices are very reasonable. I only ordered soup and a sandwich and it was delicious ! It has too be said that the clientele in here are of an older generation. Probably as a result of the non corporate, non branded and community feel about the place. It may be predominantly the older generation that go here but it doesn't stop them from creating a lively buzz in the place. I will definitely be back !

The food is made fresh and the staff are friendly andl helpful. The Cafe is at the back of a church but everyone is welcome. The centre is a great place for the local community.

I visited this restaurant for a quiet cuppa and scone. The scones are baked on the premises, and if you time it right, they come straight out of the oven. Also available are home-baked cakes and fruit loaves, all delicious. However, the scones are delicious and if you arrive before 11.00 am you can have a cup of tea/coffee and a piece of home-baking for £2.00. This also applies in the afternoon between 2-3 pm. I have had a lunch here and all dishes are very reasonably priced, Apart from the chef, all staff are volunteers and they are very friendly and helpful. If weather permitting, the garden is delightful to sit and enjoy the surroundings. As the cafe is part of the Baptist Church, all profits go straight into the Church.

I come here most weeks they do great home baking and also salads, fry ups, burgers, baked potatoes and paninis which the paninis I've not tried yet but I hear they are very good also hot and cold drinks.The staff are very friendly and theres always a good atmosphere about the place.
