We live in Fife and have never been to Strathaven before, but after visiting the Cafe Deli (Alexander Taylor) have left with a very positive impression of the town! Quick service, interesting menu, complimentary newspapers, plenty of customers. Enjoyed Armenian Lentil soup which was superb on a chilly winter's day, with some artisan bread from the associated bakery across the street. Sampled some nice tray bakes too.

Who knew batter could be so chewy? I guess that’s what happens when your haddock (questionable) has been left in the top oven for too long. Suppose that’s a recipe to make sure you can get as much grease as possible into the food though. Always been hit and miss here but more miss in recent times. Sorry to see the decline of this place - a long history in the village but fear that they are just not as committed to fresh cooked, high quality food.

A fabulous range of products from additive free bread to amazing cakes and buns. There is a cafe too across the street. Fantastic bagels and croissants

Excellent fish suppers, very tasty and freshly made, well priced too. The chicken suppers and pizza were also good, staff were pleasant and helpful.

This place is superb 👌 I went with a friend. We found The Heron by accident and I must say we would definitely go back and would highly recommend to family and friends. The staff were brilliant warm and friendly. We had a toastie and it was so well presented and plenty of it. Oh and we had to have cake which was amazing Give it a try you won't regret it!! 😉

Beautiful location outside the city. Stylish building with hospitable reception. The room was large and the bed was fine, the only strange thing was that the doors and bathroom were at wheelchair height, so brushing teeth on your knees. No problem for us, just adapt to the situation. The service was excellent, nothing was too much, our bikes were even allowed to be in an unused meeting room, great!!! Susan, the waitress at breakfast was great, did everything to make you feel at home and made time for a chat, we even got coffee for the road in our thermos cups. Thanks again Susan

First of all, Jasmine Inn is not a restaurant, it's a takeaway that does deliveries too. This is my local Chinese takeaway and for a long time I avoided it because of negative reviews on here but I wish I had ignored them. I love this wee hidden gem now and I haven't had a bad meal from them. Fair enough, the curry sauce isn't as spicy as some others but they ask you to request extra spices if you like it more hot. They do great crispy chicken wings and ribs, their satay sauces (there's 2 types) are so tasty and one is especially 'peanutty', and even their chips are fried to perfection. Give them a try, and if you want extra sauce with your ribs or satay, don't moan on here, ask the lady at the end of the phone before you finish ordering! Putting a nasty review on websites for one meal that didn't meet your standards is harsh, it can cost people their business!
