The Strathaven in South Lanarkshire

Popped In to try whilst needing to do a few bits in Strathaven. Never been in before. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. It was myself, my best pal and my 2 daughters (fussy teenagers). There was something for us all on the menu and it was DELICIOUS! Really was amazing food. Would highly recommend if you are in the area. Or if you’re not in the area specifically, you should just go to try the food.

Great wee traditional Scottish pub in the heart of strathaven . Was in for some Sunday dinner. Wings were smashing and the burger was great too. Service was really good

We stopped off for a wee early dinner today with our 2 grandsons and will definitely be back. What a great traditional pub! The decor is great with fresh flowers on the table, welcoming staff, locals and owners. The menu was great with plenty of options from main meals to a wee light bites menu. The food was top notch and very reasonably priced. The grandchildren loved the food and plates were emptied. The staff are extremely attentive and nothing is too much bother. The chef also catered to our dietary requirements without hesitation. This pub / restaurant is a must visit.

We had a lovely late lunch at the Strathaven today. Food was great. We had a build your own sharer platter (great idea) with haggis bon bons, crispy potato skins, mac n cheese bites and mozzarella sticks. For our mains we had the buttermilk chicken burger and a pizza. Food was delicious and the service was great. Will definitely go back again and will also recommend.

We ate at The Strathaven tonight and were mightily impressed. I was expecting the usual pub grub, but the food we received was amazing. We had a sharing platter (everything in it home made including the most beautifully cooked tempura prawns and melting Mac n cheese bites. I chose a salad for main as it was made with pulled chicken, roasted beforehand in their own ovens. Very generous on the bacon too and excellent dressing. I can’t fault it. My friend had a burger from their build your own options - it comes exactly as you want it - she wasn’t disappointed. The food wasn’t slammed on your table in 15 minutes, but it was worth the slightly longer wait. Nothing was too much for the staff. We’ll be back. 5 stars.

First time in tonight, but definitely not the last. Great atmosphere, fantastic live music and a great pint. What more can you ask for.

I love traditional pubs and this was an absolute treat! With plenty of free parking right outside, ample seating spaced out well for comfort, this is a must visit pub if your in the area. Traditional decor, friendly locals, welcoming staff and a good menu at very reasonable prices! Milly looked after us throughout and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and one of the best pub meals I have enjoyed. Absolute compliments to the chef on his home made food that we all thoroughly enjoyed. Milly was the perfect host and has a good knowledge of the area, giving us ideas for future visits with specific events to plan for.

Steak pie was delicious, I will be back

Large hotel just outside of town with very helpfull and friendly staff. Large restaurant with a good menu. (If you like duck, give it a try) The room was good and the breakfast was very good.

Excellent dinner presentation was great been here before but it has definitely exceeded my expectations fine food in a pub what more could you ask for

Another lovely meal at The Strathaven. Steak and Fish and chips were fabulous. Service was quick and price was really reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

If you have never been to Strathaven before The Strathaven is a county pub serving great food and drinks. A warm friendly atmosphere and there is always one of the owners on site. It is popular with locals and visitors alike. The food is varied, freshly cooked and well worth a try.

Had a party upstairs. Good size room for 40 people. Nice buffet supplied. Upstairs bar had limited stock so had to go to the downstairs bar for some drinks.

Visited for a function. Nice space! Quick service at the bar. Clean toilets. Good venue for a function- would recommend :)

Really enjoyed my visit to Strathaven. We had a lovely lunch in the deli. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming and the food was really good. We then bought some very moreish things from Taylor's Bakery. So good to go to a proper bakers. Finally after a wee stroll round, I spent some money in the excellent CHSS Charity shop. Again, everyone was really nice. Will definitely visit again.

Used to like coming here with friends for beers and burgers when they had vegan options, they've now taken all the vegan options off their menu. Shams to loose a place for meals out with friends and family, will be visiting a lot less frequently now.

Came here for a friend's birthday - a Thursday evening. Unfortunately the service was slow and the food was cold. It wasnt even very busy. Would try again....

Visited on balloon festival day, but it wasn't overcrowded. Very friendly service. We sat in the beer garden, but our booth had a wet seat and broken glass under the table which is why I only gave 4 stars. We will go back another day out of season.

Very pleasant and friendly pub, visited during the balloon festival weekend. Has a beer garden in the rear, which is quite hidden. Very dog friendly out there in the garden, counted six dogs. Only down side was a broken glass and a wet seat that hadn't been cleaned up in a booth. Despite this well worth visiting, selling Blue Moon as well as a range of other beers/lagers. Food was available I think, but none taken this visit.

Had a fantastic meal with the family celebrating our boy going away to university. Everything about it was amazing, staff are an asset to your restaurant, food was absolutely delicious that's from the whole party chef to be commended. Just an overall great night thank you.

Decent pub grub, not too expensive, service was okay. Beer was good, only downside for me was live music, cut your wrist songs not what you want when trying to enjoy a meal.

Good food, good beer the service was okay but slower than expected though to be fair I think just one person serving. Reasonable value for money for the Sunday lunch menu. Only downside for me was the live music that started halfway through the main course.

The pub has a great atmosphere, great food and drinks at a good price. Karaoke on Fridays as well as live music at the weekends.

Excellent service from the young man behind the bar! Attentive and made sure we were catered for all night. Quite the handsome fella as well, easy on the eyes to say the least!!

Food and drinks are decent quality. But in total, the atmosphere is awful. People come out of bathrooms rubbing their nose from inhaling drugs, people sniff at tables. And it's so loud you cannot hear people across from you. Terrible.

Nipped in for burger n chips, cappuccino too. Lovely stakeburger and skin on chips, done to perfection. So well priced too. Excellent!

My wife and I went to this pud on the 13/01/22. Glad we went as we both agreed the food was lovely. A nice cosy relaxing place to go. Music is good too. Staff were first class. Would definitely go back again.

First time here to eat in the pub restaurant. Lovely wee place with excellent staff. Hubby had haggis and black pudding then piri piri chicken burger with onion rings. Good portion , tasty and a proper chicken fillet. I had the nachos then Mac and cheese which was really smooth and tasty. 2 pints and bill was around £41. Worth a visit.

Went on. Saturday evening expecting restaurant to be busy but was just us. We were sat by the door to toilet corridor - wedged open with fire extinguisher. The service however was excellent and the gorgeous waiter was very attentive! The food was tasty although portion size quite small. The Bar was busy! Worth a visit !

Really lovely pub. Great atmosphere. Set in a village/town high street that has a coastal feel without the sea. Lots of independent shops Inc gift shops close by and goo parking. Had a lovely bit of water running though the area and a pretty church. Well worth a visit and explore.

Friendly staff but when we asked to sit outside we were told it was full. On checking there were three bistro sized tables so we asked to sit there. Food arrived and looked amazing and my friend thoroughly enjoyed his chicken Sunday roast. I had the beef as shown but it was mostly too tough to eat. I did mention it to the waitress but nothing was mention in regards to the bill. I would recommend but not for the beef.

Great menu. Excellent staff. To get five stars there are a few minor changes required. We live in Strathaven so have been here several times before. They have just relaunched the restaurant. The nachos as starters are massive so share between two. The fajitas are excellent but I would have like more chicken and would have paid more for that. The dessert was perfect! The Bill was wrong in our favour but we told them as they need as much local support as possible at the moment. We will be back

A good modern style of bar, i had a pint of Saint Mungo's lager bit expensive for the area worth a visit if you're in the area.

Lovely pub, great and friendly service. However, please take note of some of your locals who on a Friday night made two women feel frightened through their constant staring and sitting right next to us uninvited despite our clear signals facially and verbally that this was unwanted. We left after one drink. Such a shame as we are also locals but I won’t be in a rush to come back. I’ve heard it’s not the first time, with previous uninvited and unwanted suggestions.

Had a day out in Strathaven with my friend and by chance we ended up in The Strathaven for lunch. Service was friendly and helpful. We each chose the sizzling chicken fajitas and very good they were too! Generous helpings, accompanied by various side dishes. And reasonably priced too.

Great food and service both in restaurant and bar. Great atmosphere and leanne on karaoke was very good!

I personally enjoyed my meal here the other Sunday afternoon, the service was good, the place is nicely laid out and the decor is good. I had the beef roast and was not disappointed, but my mother-in-law prefers her meat in thinner slices rather than the chunky slices that we got, I thought it was great. One of our party thought the steak pie was salty but these are all minor things compared to the overall view of eight people.

An interesting wheat beer full of fruit on a hot summer's day.

Met my girlfriends here the other night for a catch up and some food. I had seen on Facebook they had opened up a beer garden and it was a good evening to eat out hence me booking it. On arrival I had a small wait at the bar and for a second thought.... did we make the right choice. On entering the beer garden we all were impressed by the size and decor. Well done to the owner very nicely done - we all loved it. The menu choice isn’t huge however it was just right for us. I’m a bit of a fussy eater and asked if the mac cheese came with lots of black pudding to be told I can make it without - 10/10 for that (going to try it on my next visit). Our starters were all great and everyone enjoyed them and our main meals were equally as good. Service was quick and pleasant too. Has to be a 5/5 from us. Please give this place a go as the new owner deserve the business. I am also glad I have another good eatery to add to my list in Strathaven.

fist time in new pemis since alterations must admit what a difference new modern open plan bar lounge plenty of seating tables etc ordered steak chips and a cold meat salad fast service great food cant fault it only downside is a bit expensive especially drinks but if youe looking for that cosy lunch why not

6 of us had lunch here for father's day and everybody enjoyed it. Hannah who served us was great.Good choice to choose from for us adults and the kids.Just one small thing was the beef was a little rare for my wife and I, but was rectified with no problem.Great food with great service.We shall return.
