Tony's Chip Shop in South Lanarkshire

Who knew batter could be so chewy? I guess that’s what happens when your haddock (questionable) has been left in the top oven for too long. Suppose that’s a recipe to make sure you can get as much grease as possible into the food though. Always been hit and miss here but more miss in recent times. Sorry to see the decline of this place - a long history in the village but fear that they are just not as committed to fresh cooked, high quality food.

Called a pizza at 2106 finally delivered at 2241 over 1 hour and a half to send a pizza must have come from the moon or on a flight from Italy pizza was lovely tho when it finally came

The special fish is a thing o beauty if you can find better than this let me know chips are mixture big and wee crunchy numbers again superb remember yer no fine dining this hand eating ¹oot a wrapper ,well done Tony if ma waistline wid allow it a wid be eating this special fish every night of the week 6 stars

Never had anything but good food & service. Whilst appreciating some times can be very busy with deliveries, ours arrived 1hour 10 minutes after order and just hit the bin. It was barely edible and sorry I don’t do cold food.

Good down to earth fish and chip shop, the service was quick and friendly. The fish suppers were good with decent portions happy to go back again anytime.

Was told food would take 1hrs 30 min to deliver it had taken over 2hrs .The drinks ordered with the food didn't arrive and driver said would return with the drinks although paid for this didn't happen. Overall very disappointing experience and wouldn't recommend.

Over an hour for a delivery on a Wednesday night. No warning when ordering. Poor performance.

The place to go for your fish and chips

Nice staff and always fresh cooked items as it is always busy. But Saturday night got two portions of chips and to be honest looked like there was a tattie shortage. Not great value for money as portion very small in comparison to other chippy shops I’ve visited. June 2023: just updating after having fish n chips , still tasty chips but disappointed with fish. It was freshly cooked as usual but one piece of fish was tasteless with quite cardboard like batter, other fish was nice but soggy batter even though just 5 mins up the road in the car. Prices getting steep £9+ for fish supper (2 fillets) although cheaper option at £6.50 for one fillet.

Never going back. Got fish supper and it was under cooked. Think the fish was still breathing and the chips were that hard it almost dislocatated my jaw.

Chips all burnt. I asked for fish and chips not aids. Also had hairs in it.

Sunday night order of smoked sausage supper ,sausage supper and a chocken nugget kids meal rotten dried batter sausage been sitting all day by looks of it same goes for smoke sausage and the chicken nuggets in the kids meal were big digusting things what a waste of £13 staff were nice tho food rotten

1st time we have ordered from here 9-3-20 Ordered 2 pizzas and fish n chips. Absolutely delicious. Quick delivery food hot, batter on fish lovely and crunchy. Pizzas right up there with the best. We will 100% be ordering again. Thank you

Food is amazeing. Especially the vhicken nuggets. They are real battered chicken. Had them tonight with curry sauce. Better than the Chinese chicken balls. Brilliant portion 👌

Food always tastes good, Generous with portions and great customer service. Can't recommend this takeaway enough. They have the best fish and chips around. Tony's isn't our closest takeaway but it surpasses anything local.

Had my first fish and chips from here, I come from Strathaven and was passing by , absolutely loved it will definitely be going here instead of Strathaven or ek

Being fairly regular customers it was great to see Tony's opening up after a few weeks closed for deliveries only. We enjoyed our fantastic fish suppers, half batter, half bread crumbs, and were are usual full to the gunnels. Superb!!! I see now they are doing collections too, with a limit of 2 in at any one time. I still though, dont think the floor layout of the shop is congusive to this, to maintain the 2M distancing inside. With the Indian next door doing the same, at times there is a crowd bigger than Hamilton FC gets. But its great to see it open again...

Delivered on time,wee bit pricey but dont mind if u get what u order,fish and chips gd...12' piza wi 8' toppings very dry and bare,sorry guys paying gd money lets taste it eh

Fantastic chippy in Stonehouse special fish is Brilliant.

Paid £3.50, for a large portion of chips, and it was very poor, must be a shortage of potatoes, as there wasn't many used. Go elsewhere unless your on a diet and like being ripped off.
