The best restaurants in South West Scotland

Stopped for lunch. Very quiet. Best thing was the lovely wee girl serving.. ordered sandwiches. Cheap bland bread which spoils any filling. If your charging almost £8 for a prawn 🥪 upgrade your bread!

This restaurant was such a disappointment. The floor was covered in crumbs and packaging and not just at our table. The carpet had large water stains on it and was badly frayed in areas to the point of being a trip hazard. There were used plates etc on the tables that we cleared up. Both myself and my sister tried to order two different meals that they didn’t have the ingredients for. The staff were very friendly and apologised. No big deal, disappointing but it happens sometimes. The meal came fairly quickly, which was good, however I had to ask for the small side salad to be replaced as it was browned and wilted in places. The staff had no issue with this and a new salad was politely brought out. You used to get decent portion there but it was sparse, especially considering the cost of the meal. The toilets were horrendous. Just run down and messy. There were two ladies that saw me looking in shock at the state of the place who expressed their displeasure with their experience of the food portions and the lack of cleanliness also. It was quiet as well. What happened to this place, it used be good and you’d struggle to get a table. It’s just so sad to see really. Even the plants area was messy in places with piles of leaves, dead flowers and spilled soil. The whole place needs some TLC. The staff are a big plus as every single one was really friendly and helpful throughout but with so many garden centers and restaurants in the area to choose from I’ll be eating elsewhere next time, which means I’ll be buying my plants elsewhere too for the convenience of it. I hope for their sake it was just an off day due to staff shortages or something. Not at all the treat that I’d hoped it would be.

Friendly place an polite staff,,,doesnt serve food anymore....but always bloody freezing

Limited menu, bit overpriced for what was on offer, staff didn't appear to understand substitution so was charged more for less yet bill was not itemised. The chips were fine so would likely use the takeaway for them but won't be using the sit down restaurant again either solo or taking family.

Drive did not follow delivery instructions even with a good tip added.

We were staying at the travelodge next door which didn’t have a restaurant or bar so we came here quite a few times. We were really impressed, we had breakfast twice and the food was really good. Even the tea was lovely. Staff were nice. Highly recommended

I love the salads and sandwiches there. Although my family here treats them like fast food. That's how it is, but I'm dragging my feet. In our area, there is one branch and one girl works there, although I don’t remember her name. Young, beautiful...I’ll write her name later, but she’s very kind and helps every time she asks if I should heat up the chicken for the salad. But there is also a guy who didn’t care about preferences. So, because of him, not all 5 points. Great place, clean and delicious food.

We decided to call even though the reviews weren't 100% but the food we had was really good and the portion sizes were huge. The service was really good and the good was ready really quickly. We had a good experience

Ordered a salad box a Chasni and a Garlic nan at 18.45pm. At 20.00pm we recieved the salad box and asked where is the rest. The driver said there had been a mix up. He would return to shop and be back in 5 mins. 2 phone calls later and eventually delivered at 20.45pm. We were told they were extremely bust and had got mixed up. Unbelievable

I ordered gammon to be told they have none. The one girl said we have one left. When it came it had no egg and looked and tasted like it was cooked yesterday. Didn’t give my child beans. When I complained about no egg or beans the man said he’d get it and went off to do something else. I waited so long I went and complained, to be told we could make you another gammon! I reordered something else. The staff were just mulling about not doing much. I waited so long and my husband and child had finished theirs so I went back to say I wanted a refund and how unhappy I was. I left unfed and fuming. Never eat there. Not very clean either.

KFC left here years ago and it's scheduled for demolition later on this year according to retailers

Not many tofu options in the area, was happy to find Salt & Chilli Tofu and Satay Tofu on the menu which were both very good.

Delicious meal and cocktails when we were in we were the only ones in which was a shame and the waitress was lovely to would definitely return

Just had chicken pakora was all dried up and some bits were burned I've been a customer here for many years and that's the worst meal I've had

Great service I would happily go back I was served by a girl called Kyla very pleasant defo be bk food was hot and lovely my son enjoyed his as well 😊
