The best restaurants in Aberdeenshire North East Scotland

We were a group of four who visited on a Saturday lunchtime. The cafe was busy, not excessively so but we waited well over an hour for our food. Our drinks were finished but we did ask for tap water to keep us going - not knowing we would be charged 75p per glass of lukewarm water - not even an offering of ice! Never have I been charged for tap water. When the food eventually arrived, the chips were undercooked and had to be sent back. I ordered a further coffee which didn’t arrive until I had finished my food. Not a good experience at all and we certainly won’t be back.

Stayed here with family and will definitely return. We were warmly welcomed into the hotel and the staff were so very polite and helpful. We had an evening meal and breakfast, the food was freshly cooked and delicious. We stayed the night as we were attending the Halloween Party at the venue with live music and I have to say that we all had a great night, the band were superb. The rooms were spotless clean and lovely 😍.

Esta noche mis amigos y yo salimos a disfrutar de una comida encantadora. Pero eso no salió según lo planeado, ya que tuvimos que esperar 2 horas y media para nuestra comida! (uno de mis amigos pedir un filete que era sin sabor y el otro pedir un entrante que fue completamente despreciado cuando se le preguntó acerca) Aunque el camarero era muy servicial y haciendo todo lo posible para que nuestras comidas llegaran más rápido, todo el lugar es severamente escaso de personal causando copias de seguridad en todo el restaurante. Como nuestra comida estaba tomando mucho tiempo nos dijeron que podíamos irnos y no queríamos tratar con nosotros en ese sentido. En general, estoy muy decepcionado del servicio que recibí esta noche, ya sea este lugar tiene que reducir la entrada de clientes o encontrar una manera de acomodar este volumen de personas.

This is a lovely shop with a small cafe with ice cream counter. My grandchild loves the ice cream but not a clean table or clean seat today. All cleared but not wiped. Seats and tables covered in crumbs. Very offputting.

Excellent Fish & Chip shop. Been coming here for years, never had a bad meal. Chips are always piping hot and not as hard and brittle like a lot of other chippers are. I usually have either the king rib or chipsteak to go with my meal and these are cooked well. Highly recommended for a takeaway.

Lovely sandwiches and good coffee. Good service in a lovely tearoom within the elegant house. The salad with the sandwiches could have done with a bit of dressing it was a bit dry and bitter. Apart from that would recommend as great choice of soup, sandwiches and great choice of cakes and scones. Very good value When visiting Duff House highly recommend it.

What an amazing find. We went here for Brunch, lunch, dinner and just for drinks. A wonderful family business with OUTSTANDING SERVICE. The food is absolutely delicious and plenty. The milkshakes are heavenly. I can’t recommend this place enough - looking like it should be a nail bar with PINK everywhere - with the most burly (but kindest) of men behind the counter. Never judge a book by it cover. THIS IS A PLACE FULL OF HEART.

Dirijo un grupo para gente de mar jubilada y acordamos que volveríamos a la ginebra este año. El servicio fue excelente! La comida deliciosa y los precios razonables. Éramos 21 y realmente disfrutamos de nuestro tiempo en los Nuevos Árboles Verdes a partir de 13 : 30 a 16 : 30 . Todos disfrutaron de la comida y las bromas con el personal, que no podía hacer lo suficiente por nosotros. Volveremos el año que viene para "Tres en fila! " Recomiendo encarecidamente.

Please ask for large curry sauce ( probably cost more ) as they give u a very small.pot like macdonalds for your meal sadly gone down hill in last while

The owner of this restaurant, Dean Clark, has manged to run the business into the ground in a breathtakingly short space of time. He has had many disputes with local businesses, business partners and staff. He has routinely failed to pay suppliers and staff.

This was the worst café experience I’ve had in years, and I’m truly annoyed. I took my vegan son here for brunch, expecting the delicious offerings promised on their website – pancake stacks, specialty coffee, smoothies, milkshakes, and a vegetarian brunch and lunch menu. Add to that the glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, and it sounded worth the 34-mile round trip to Inverurie. I couldn’t have been more wrong. We arrived around midday to discover the café had practically no food. Not only that, but seating was a nightmare. Customers were crammed into the tiny space in front of the serving area, yet we weren’t allowed to sit in the empty conservatory. The “menu” consisted of two items: granola or a breakfast wrap with eggs. That’s it. My son reluctantly chose the granola, and I settled for a mocha and a slice of stale vegan orange cake. To add insult to injury, the drinks, while tasty, were ridiculously small. Then came the kicker – they charged me £21.20 for this pathetic spread. That’s an average of £5.30 per item for minimal food, tiny drinks, and a total lack of choice. The assistant behind the counter was frosty, bordering on rude, snapping at customers and repeating, “This is our menu today,” without a hint of apology or explanation. She even carried on a loud conversation with another customer about eating meat – in a vegetarian café, no less. When a fellow vegan customer asked if this limited menu was permanent, the assistant gave the same robotic response, suggesting this is the sad state of things going forward. Given the extortionate prices, lacklustre menu, and unwelcoming service, I can’t see how they’ll stay in business. I certainly won’t be going back, and I strongly advise others to steer clear. What a waste of time and money.

Fantastic place. Plenty parking, great choice of yummy ice cream. The pizzas looked amazing, will definitely go back to try one. Outside pods really handy if weather is bad and beautiful flowers everywhere

I walked past the cafe with my son in the buggy at 14:38 (states they close at 15:00 online) and asked the blonde female employee outside if I could order a sandwich for takeaway. Was told, in a defensive way that they had ‘already put everything away’. I understand it can be frustrating when people want served at the last minute (I used to work in retail), however this wasn’t a minute before close time - the cafe should possibly change their advertised hours if they can’t serve customers beyond 14:30. It’s a shame as it’s put me off visiting again, and I like to support local businesses as much as possible, especially in Ellon as I live nearby.

Good things : This cafe is in a great location and offers plenty of seating outside which is ideal for those with dogs. Not so good things : The coffee was ok although pricey for the size of cup. Cakes were nice enough, but had too much buttercream icing. Bad things : The layout of the tables inside is a bit congested. The volume and choice of music appears to be for the benefit of the staff because we, and those around us at other tables, to raise our voices to have a conversation.

Stopped here for a quick bite for lunch on Monday 29th March 2021. I had egg mayo and onion sandwich and my partner had a cheese and tuna sandwich, both were on white bread. They were made fresh and we sat in the square to eat them. Absolutely delicious. Egg Mayo tasted delicious and the bread was fresh. Plenty of filling in both sandwiches. Tuna and cheese was delicious also. Will definitely be back! Lovely woman served us, very friendly.
