Sadly, we were a bit disappointed by our time here. Spent a fair amount of time picking a place for our few hours on a Sunday in Aberdeen, and decided to come here for their Sunday Roast offering. First off, service wasn't the greatest. It didn't *seem* to be short staffed (though it's impossible for me to know), but maybe moreso disorganized operations? Ordered a couple of cocktails, and those came out quick and we're very good. The buffet had a nice selection, but definitely did not get much attention, and the quality of the different items varied quite a bit (the tomato basil soup just tasted like pasta sauce?) We both ordered the beef main, and this was the most disappointing part. Two super thin slices of beef, veggies and potatoes that seemed like they were cooked hours prior and just kept warm (think hard-sticky on glazed root veggies), and the Yorkshire pudding dense and tough. Gravy was good, at least! Maybe it was just a one-off experience, but sadly we'll probably avoid other Malmaison restaurants for awhile.

I thought it was a brilliant idea, so joined the queue and wanted to give everything in my wallet to support this cause. - over £85 just for a coffee. But I was refused! The girl packing food bags said ‘they were closed to customers during handouts’ I tried to say I wanted to support them, but no. I was turned away. Ok. I run a Charity. (SC050679), and know good funding streams, and am an elected councillor, so I will wait till they fail, then do better. Big Mistake.

Atmosphere ZERO stars. This review is for Nicky's attention who very likely gets a much warmer reception when she arrives into the cafe than we do. I am only writing this as I no longer have a local cafe which is somewhat inconvenient. I was there with my wife and kid. The usual sit here, don't sit there nonsense we have to put up with everytime we visit. We usually go once a week for a year or more now. We were met by the usual lady who never smiles, always stressed. Told to sit over at the side area. There were two other people in the cafe, otherwise it was empty. All four tables at the main window were free. I asked to sit by the main window and was not one bit surprised by her response "there are only 3 of you" suggesting the window tables are for more than 3 people. She looked away and continued running our sandwiches through the till indicating the conversation on moving tables was now over. I asked if that was a 'no' (we can't move seats), and she confirmed that was the case. She then once again continued on the till. To me, her decision on the seats was for the sake of confrontation only, nothing to do with me or needing tables. We popped in for a family coffee and were met with the usual stress environment. It was her way or the highway... and we chose the highway. We left the cafe for good this time. This has been an issue before and I am not going to deal with this stress while paying top dollar. This is meant to be a relaxed environment, and it just isn't. Bye bye now.

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Amuse. Our server was lovely and polite, efficient and attentive. For starters, we enjoyed chicken liver parfait - smooth like butter, light and flavourful and paired with mango chutney - delicious! The other starter we had was the pasta dish - full of flavour, perfectly cooked. For main we enjoyed beef cheeks - tender and fall apart, served with creamy and rich mash and selection of vegetables. Absolutely delicious! Our second main was steak au poivre - beef was so tender and fall apart, and the sauce was outstanding. Rich, velvety and concentrated. Definitely an amazing experience, and if we ever come to Aberdeen again, we will be back!

The coffee here is good. I can't deny that. Small cups, good strength. Not your usual pint of black water. We have been here more than once, the menu is a bit niche, and quite expensive. I had the muesli with compote for £5.50. The compote turned out to be about a teaspoon full of pale yellow consistency (wasn't sure what it was) with one blueberry and one raspberry dropped on top for good measure. Half the bowl was yogurt and the other half was a quite sweet home made muesli of which there was little. In short the dish was mainly yogurt. I felt quite disappointed as I had wanted a healthy breakfast. Daughter had avocado on toast with scrambled egg (they don't seem to do poached), and t'other person a breakfast roll. Both were happy. The menu really stops us going back too often as I can't find enough of what I want to eat. It is also pretty expensive and I have quite a lot of avocados at home which I can smash at will. It is nice to have something in the area though. There are some pretty average cafes in Aberdeen that get 5 stars.

Had a great experience in the Glentanar bar, very friendly and welcoming. Heather was especially very kind and made our evening, will be returning to the Glentanar bar and would recommend to anyone in the area.
