The Albyn in Aberdeen City

Went for the Sunday roast. Meat was tough and dry. Yorkshire pudding was oily. Extremely disappointing.

Booked a meal as a couple, our table was not in a nice seating area more like a conservatory/ walkway area, dod not feel comfortable at all. To top it off service was slow but food was really good.

Staff were very fast and efficient, super friendly and willing to do anything for you. The food was brilliant especially the herb crusted lamb, this was delicious. Only thing we were disappointed in was, my partner phoned a week in advance to get a special dessert plate etc for my 21st birthday and staff said this could be done with no problems at all, on the day there was no communication of this and it was bypassed altogether. Overall a good experience! Would recommend to a friend

Went for the Aberdeen restaurant week menu. Some of the best food I had in a while in Aberdeen. And the ambience of the place itself is amazing. Amazing service as well.

I celebrated my birthday on 21/02/2025, I had 33 guests for a dinner. It was absolutely amazing ! The staff was very professional, kind and patient, I had a private area to have my guests, the food was fresh and arrived on the table in the correct time. It was a lovely night in a very high standard restaurant. I recommend you have dinner and special celebrations in this restaurant! Absolutely spectacular 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Lovely food, very professional and friendly staff

Had a fantastic Valentine’s dinner with my girlfriend. The atmosphere was warm and the staff were friendly and fun, making the evening even better. Service was spot on, attentive without being too much. The food was top quality, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. Every course was well thought out, making it a great spot for a special occasion. Definitely somewhere we’d go back to. Highly recommend.

Popped in finally because I always thought it was too fancy for casual diners. Wrong. The place is welcoming and chilled. The service is excellent - Robert the Manager walked the room and helped at every opportunity. Prices we reasonable especially for the portions and quality - had the Tempura Prawns to start and Roasted Chicken in whiskey sauce for Main. Had a couple of glasses of wine and a rum Old Fashioned all for £67. Would go again. Apparetly Fridays a rammed - 300 covers in one night!

Had the Sunday Roast … the neat couldn’t be cut .. be good for resoling your boots ! We told the waiter and we got them and the drinks taken off the bill. Had to find somewhere else to go for our dinner. Was a.bit of shame as it was meant to be a xnas treat for my mum.

Mickey served me and his customer service was amazing, would recommend.

I ordered a cheeseboard, it said in the menu it was to share, and they brought a dish with 3 thin cheese slices, which is not enough even for one person. I was very dissapointed on this.

Wow what a find....we were visiting for the weekend and found this on google maps. We had the best meal we've had in a long time and the staff were very attentive ans so friendly. My daughter had the Highlander burger which she struggled to eat but said it was delicious. Hubby had trio of pigs which he droulled 🤣 over...I had Ceasar salad with Halloumi...thr crispiest lettuce, tastes sauce and the Halloumi went with it perfectly. Big portions. Such a lovely bar and restaurant. Cant wait to return to Aberdeen again..this will be my go to place. Loved it.

I had high hopes for this Sunday brunch, but unfortunately, it was a letdown from start to finish. First off, the service was painfully slow. Despite arriving at a relatively quiet time, it took almost 20 minutes just to get our drinks, and even longer for the food to arrive. When it finally did, the dishes were lukewarm at best. The food itself was mediocre. The eggs were overcooked and rubbery, the bacon was soggy, and the so-called “fresh fruit” looked like it had been sitting out for hours. To make matters worse, the portions were tiny for the price they were charging.

I was at The Albyn tonight with a party of 6 for my friend's birthday. We waited an hour and twenty minutes after ordering for our food to arrive. We asked the waiting staff 3 times when we can expect our food to come, and on the final time of politely asking, the owner, Simon Cruikshank, shouted at my friend "Its coming NOW" - really appalling customer service. When the food did come, it was lacklustre to say the least... The "posh scampi" was 4 small pieces of scampi with a side of undercooked chips. We were all left hungry and very disappointed - The Albyn is massively overpriced and the staff, particularly Simon, are the rudest I've ever encountered. Do not recommend. At all.

Delicious food and very nice atmoshere with polite staff!

The starter was good Veggie Haggis Scotch egg and was more than I was expecting. The Dan Dan noodle dish (photo below)was not my favourite 😞 but others may enjoy it. Service overall was good.

I have been countless times and the food, drinks, service always spot on. Definitely my favourite place in Aberdeen ❤️

Booked my sons graduation dinner in the Private room last Friday. The Food and service was fantastic. Hope McHardy organized a perfect Dinner to remember. Highly recommend for any occasion.

We’ve easily been to Albyn >20 times in last 2yrs. It became one of our go places in Aberdeen as food, drinks, cocktails and service are consistently very good. Staff always very friendly and happy to help. Albeit out 20yrs daughter hates being ID every time she comes with us 😂 As we go frequently, it would be nice to see a bit more rotation of some of the food options or to see some weekly specials that don’t repeat that often, to enjoy a change without needing to go somewhere else

A fantastic bar restaurant in the west end of Aberdeen. I did not get a chance to try the food but I thought the decor and ambience was amazing. Next time in Aberdeen I'll give the food a try. Beautiful place tastefully decorated.

The Albyn is quickly becoming a favourite to dine! They have an extensive menu with so many delicious meals to choose from. You won't be disappointed. Great atmosphere and beautiful decor. Really a great dining experience

Amazing food and cocktails- all served in a beautiful environment!

Ordered the ‘three little pigs’. This consisted of pork cheek stuffed with stornoway black pudding and wrapped with Parma ham. The pork was so tough I couldn’t cut or eat. The black pudding wasn’t stornoway and the whole plate looked like a dogs dinner. No taste either of what I did manage to eat. Pudding chosen was the Rum baba and unfortunately this was stale, dry by and inedible. We got a “sorry about that” no money was taken off the bill. Very expensive meal that wasn’t enjoyed at all. Wouldn’t rush back!

Very well done. Still feels like The Albyn but fresh, modern and clean. Great service and superb food. Staff were polite and helpful. Great cocktails. Updated 15th Jan 2023. Menu has had a revamp and brought in some new offerings. Tartare was excellent, as was the Kedgeree. Service was varied depending on the member of staff serving.

One of the best restaurants in Aberdeen

All 7 of us enjoyed everything we ordered. The Highlander burger was especially good. I never order a burger but it sounded such a good combination. Would definitely come back especially to have it again. To top it off, really appreciated you acknowledging the birthday, a lovely surprise!

Nice bar. It was really busy with Christmas nights out, so it was understandably difficult to get everyone served in a timely manner. Staff did a good job though.

I've noted that the standard of service at the bar has dropped over the last year. Not always polite and poor housekeeping behind the bar which, to me, reflects on the professionalism. It used to be a lot better.

1st time in for about 15 years. Really nice with a fantastic atmosphere. Food & Service was great. Food Pictured, Korean Pork Belly, Chicken Tenders with garlic dip, and some pudding to finish..

Bon bon starters were great, unfortunately the same can't be said for the veal and Linguine...2 words; dry, unedible! Rest of our table had different meals, all good, so maybe avoid the veal. Staff are fantastic wouldn't put me off returning, I'd just be a bit more selective of the main course.

Lovely restaurant, atmosphere was great and the food was absolutely fantastic! Only downside was service could’ve been better. Our mains were shoved in front of us whilst we were still eating starters, we weren’t offered a desert menu, 3 different servers came over one after the other and kept reminding us we only had our table for x amount of mins, which just made us feel we were being rushed. Overall the food and the atmosphere were brilliant I was just disappointed that we felt we were being rushed through our meal, however I would recommend and would absolutely go back.

You know when you go to a restaurant and everything you eat hits the spot? This was one of those experiences. Everything was well seasoned and full of flavour. The calamari was perfectly fried, to the point it wasn't greasy. The beef was soft, and the vegetables were well roasted. I got a generous serving of gravy, too. The dessert was so good I could have eaten another two, even though I was pretty full. Chocolate bread and butter pudding with a rich chocolate ice cream. 10/10 and 100/100 for me with that dessert! You must check this place out if you're nearby.

Very happy with our visit. We came for the first time to celebrate my friend’s birthday and all were so happy. The food was great, perfect sized portions and worth the value.

I had a lovely brunch with two of my bestfriends & I opted for a simple chicken and waffle and a mocktail. The meal was enjoyable, though I would have opted for thicker waffles. I also would have preferred the option to have my syrup on the side, allowing me to drizzle it as I like, instead of it being served already drizzled. The quantity of syrup provided was slightly excessive for my taste, but it wasn't the worst experience. Overall, the staff were pleasant and helpful. I’d definitely visit again!

We had dinner with our family from Aberdeen. First Aberdeen experience and we loved it. Nice food, friendly service. And beautifull deserts. We will come back here one day.

This place has closed. I booked on the last night unknowing - did not eat as choice was sandwich or maccaroni cheese. Left. Sadly it is for sale.

It has a very friendly atmosphere. We were there for lunch and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. As for the drinks, I ordered fresh orange juice and was very impressed that it came with fresh orange slices and ice. A small touch but very nice.

Very average food and quite a small plate of it. For a sunday roast you’d expect more than one slice of beef.

Lacking in atmosphere. Steak and Ale Pie didn't have very good meat and the meals were lukewarm. Disappointing.

Quiet dining room when we went in, but it soon filled up. Waitress was working on her own for most of the time but coped really well. Try the rib eye skewer if you’re hungry! Steak was cooked perfectly

Visted a few times over past fee months with various itison vouchers too - all great value for money! Lovelt staff and food great quality - even before never had a bad meal here ! Keep up the good work !

Went here with the itison voucher on a Friday night. It was amazing value for money as the food was really tasty and good portions. The only problem was how quiet it was for a Friday night there was no atmosphere and the bar was dead. However would defo recommend for food

Popped into the Albyn last weekend for some birthday drinks. Lovely atmosphere good price and live music! Got some brilliant cocktails made by Abbie. Definitely will return.

Had a family lunch for 5 and our grandson. Pleasant surroundings for a family meal. The TV was on in the bar so were able to keep tabs on the rugby. Waiter and waitresses were attentive. We had a mix of meals 2 x sunday roasts, haddock, lamb, chicken and a childs scampi. All the meals were excellent with generous portions but we didn't leave enough room for dessert apart from grandson who polished off a sticky toffee pudding and said it was "delish" Thank you Albyn we had a great afternoon and will definitely return and maybe try the pensioners Saltire meals.
