Very average hotel. The room was really scruffy and just about clean enough.
Pretty poor appearance and the bed was not comfortable. Only the shower was decent.
Very little to say about the service, since there were very few staff to interact with anyway and reception was not manned.
A great, warm friendly pub. Spotlessly clean. Great quirky decor. Fantastic range of local ales, whisky and gin. Fabulous to see a business supporting local businesses. Food was spot on. Value for money. Well presented. Will visit again as soon as we can. Well done on a lovely Well run pub
Irish invasion there last Sunday with our local Scottish cousins. Everything absolutely perfect. Highly recommend the ambiance, food and the service. Amy stole my heart- some brave and inspiring lady. Best of luck for the future Amy🙏🙏

Horrible grainy claggy pasta overwhelmed with garlic and cold chips - Asked for refund of £13 by text - got one word reply no - phoned and she shouted at me and hung up - phoned again - same rant and hung up - tried again and she threatened to report me to Police !! More like I’d report her to trading standards !! She’s the one with horrible customer service - don’t order from these people just disgusting attitude from her - doesn’t merit any stars but review asks for minimum unfortunately
Every time we go to Dumfries we call in for either a mid morning snack or for lunch and we've always found the 'Home Made' food to be first class along with the service that we receive. Well done to management and staff for looking after us.
I have dined at this Restaurant several times, both food and service is of a consistently high standard. I would recommend without hesitation.

Myself, my fiance and our 3 children attended here this morning for breakfast with santa. The place is under new management and in the process of getting opened back up and this morning did not disappoint. The place was lovely and warm and set up beautifully and traditional asthetic which I loved. Only a few families in which probably is because most people didn't hear about it but I loved that aspect as my children can be feral so it was less overwhelming. There was so many breakfast options, fried breakfast items, toast with all the spreading options, pancakes, a variety of fruit, orange and apple juice coffee ect was lovely. There was activities set up for the kids which everyone had fun with and then santa came for a visit. Kids got lots of time with him, a gift, photos, lots of conversation it was nice not to feel rushed or under pressure the atmosphere was so welcoming. The place was decorated beautifully and the staff were dressed up which the kids also loved. Overall we had a brilliant morning as a family and ill 100% be back.
This restaurant is part of Smiths hotel at Gretna Green. We were in the final days of our holiday in Scotland and wanted to have a special meal. We were staying at the hotel and saw this had good reviews. Well it didn’t disappoint. It was good that you could pick and mix from the a la carte menu and the bar menu. Every course was very good. Because we had courses from both menus I didn’t think it was too expensive. The service was good although it was very busy with other events going on. The staff were kept busy but were still attentive to our needs. Would recommend if you want something special or just for an evening meal.

Came here as was stating someone local for the night. Was told it would be a 20 minute wait which turned into 1 hour. Food was shockingly unedible. Please avoid here 👌
