Nice guy. Good food. Cheap price.

Tried to visit three times for lunch in past fortnight. Closed every time despite the 'Open' sign on door. Even rubbed it in by advertising opening hours for Xmas day. Doesn't deserve customers. We won't be trying again.

Well…. I have never been to this chinese restaurant before so was quite reluctant to go with my group of Friends last night to dine in but .. it was fantastic!! The young waitress was brilliant and nothing was a problem she was a great laugh and seemed to enjoy the banter from our table. We ate and had drinks which was absolutely faultless - we decided to pay individually and was very cheap! Thanks again for your wonderful warm welcome, customer Service and 10/10 food. R.

Found this gem of a restaurant on a very wet Monday lunchtime. A very warm welcome from the owner, cannot understand why the restaurant was empty. Ordered from the three course set lunch menu, which was very reasonably priced at £8.95 each I believe. Portion sizes were spot on for both of us. Husband ordered The Chicken Noodle Soup, Chicken Chow Mein & Banana Fritter, I ordered the Vegetable Spring Roll, The chicken in Satay sauce with Peanuts & the Banana Fritter. Everything was fresh, very hot & tasty. Restaurant & bathrooms very clean. Will definitely eat here again & strongly recommended.

Was Lovely to have a nice Chinese meal sitting in again at lunchtime and good menu. Tho I do prefer the sweet and sour Cantonese style. Not the battered balls .. so I had something else it was still nice.

Ok where do I start. Reading the reviews and I dont agree with some of them. I am a regular visitor mostly at lunch times but havent been since christmas because of being very ill. What do people expect . The menu is reasonable and somthing for everyones taste I find it very nice and enough for lunch time in fact i never have a sweet because i am always full up. The staff are great and the manager is sweet and always let's on. She makes the best prawn cocktail sause I have tasted but it's a secret to what's in it. I will be back and I hope soon. hope the staff and customers keep safe and well. See you soon

We went to this restaurant on the spur of the moment as we were shopping nearby.it was a quiet Monday evening and we were the only people sitting in. Food was good,not massive portions but enough to fill us up. Owner was friendly and service was good. Prices very reasonable. Will definitely be back

This place is by far the worst Chinese I have ever been. The food is tasteless and the cook should be ashamed of himself for serving rubbish. Shockingly, their prices are high! Unbelievable!

We looked at where is restaurants in the Dumfries area for the meal on a cold and wet Sunday evening and came across the Imperial Chinese. Having been used to eating in Chinese restaurants in Manchester and Newcastle it was a bit of a culture shock to see how the other half lives Fairly limited basic menu the company grab surroundings and what can only be described as picnic tables in the restaurant however saying that the Welcome was warm which was probably warmer than the food that we were served. I'm sorry but it was just poor. No more to be said

I can honestly say I've never tasted such fresh, flavoursome Chinese food than at Peters restaurant. Myself and my mum have been visiting for years and usually go everytime we are in Dumfries. The special offer means we get 2 courses and a glass of wine each for £15 in total. I don't think anyone could compete with them prices. The food is always amazing and Peter is a lovely man who always makes you feel welcome in his own quiet way. If you are visiting Dumfries or live there already you need to try this restaurant. You won't be disappointed with the food.

We discovered this amazing Chinese restaurant by chance. Our first impression was the place seemed dated and we were the only customers, which was a little daunting. The food, however, was excellent. Our son asked for a dish he normally eats at home, and they were happy to oblige making it...he said it tasted amazing. We all had a main course, plus drinks and the bill was £23. A brilliant find in Dumfries. We recommend you try it the next time you're in Dumfries.

We called in here after seeing a special offer for a 3 course meal for less than £10 each. Food delicious, staff very friendly. Only thing missing was music. Due to the fact that we were the only people in there, it was difficult to talk without the staff hearing our conversation.

Ordered a takeaway was awful no taste to it. Was bland. And cold. Did not even get what was asked for. Will not be back

El restaurante está en una callejuela al lado del centro de la ciudad y cuando estoy allí a menudo es tranquilo. Esto sólo puede ser porque el edificio está justo al lado de la principal calle de la ciudad de centro y me siento realmente lo siento por Pedro el propietario como su comida es realmente genial! Él es muy amable y se merece mas clientes. Así que, por favor, si estás en Dumfries y elegante chino, este es sin duda el de ir. He estado en 6 restaurantes chinos en Dumfries a lo largo de los años, y éste es fácilmente el mejor y a un precio tan asequible!

The food was really fantastic as was the service. The restaurant was lovely and small and quiet. Not very crowded, but lots of people coming to fetch take aways. We enjoyed the food so much, we went two nights running!!

My wife and I called in for lunch last week We ordered the chicken and noodle soup for starters, which was very bland and guess the water in the river Nith had more flavour, yuck, the next surprise came when my wife ordered boiled rice with her main course, only to be told no boiled only fried, very very odd never ever came across this before in a Chinese restaurant, I had curry which was bland and just not great, coffee was also very mild, Banana fritters to finish, chewy batter, to summaries, don't bother we wont be back and to rub salt into the wounds it worked out to be the most expensive Chinese for luch in Dumfries.

I buy takeaways from the Imperial regularly with my family - the only Chinese I go to. The food is always excellent and the staff are so friendly.

Clean place with prompt and friendly service. Sadly the food was ok, a bit bland. Can't really see myself going back there.

We often eat here as do friends and family. All foods cooked to order. Requests accommodated - no onion, more chilli etc. Owner serves and his wife cooks. Great team. Very reasonably priced.

We discovered the Chinese restaurant (Sinos) we liked in Dumfries has closed so we tried The Imperial because it was handy for the shops, car park etc. What a disappointment, the soup tasted of nothing at all, we weren't asked what kind of rice we wanted with the mains and got a greasy fried rice. There was a very limited selection of soft drinks, the Coke I ordered certainly wasn't 'Coke' but some cheap substitute. Our meal wasn't expensive, I think £5.95 for 2 courses but there was only the set menu available, no one minds paying for good food, this was a waste of time and money and disappointing when we rarely get time for some shopping and lunch in Dumfries.

Very nice food. Good choice and very good value. Friendly and polite staff. Seems to be popular with locals, usually a good sign.

for the price of a buisness lunch it was not bad one pit fall the toilets to get to them down in the basement bit dark and they were clean to a piont the service you could not fault and it was really busy will i go back maybe

I am currently in Dumfries with my boyfriend, I am from Edinburgh and tonight we went to Imperial Chinese for some food because he loves it. Generally speaking, I am fussy with Chinese food because it can go two ways - be great or be awful.However, I was more than happy with the food I got here. I ordered chicken fried price, crispy shredded chicken and also some ribs.All of it was excellent and after coming home I have made a trip advisor just to rave about my experience at this Chinese.This will be my new port of call every time I visit Dumfries!!thank you xx

The food was okay & service was prompt but to be honest it was a little bland, even for a 'spicy' Chinese meal !! The place was clean & the owner was pleasant & polite. Perhaps I chose the wrong dishes ??

Came here the morning after a heavy night in town while visiting a couple of friends. We all opted to only have main courses which included lemon chicken, chicken fried rice and a chicken chow mein. The lemon chicken was probably the best part of the meal and came with a fairly large portion of fried rice. The chicken fried rice wasn't too bad but the chow mein was a bit too greasy for my liking, although my friend enjoyed it. Service was average and the food wasn't overly priced. Over all, although i've been to better places, I'd recommend giving this place a try.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely 2 course dinner here whilst visiting Dumfries. We hadn't had a chance to check on Tripadvisor, so we just went for this restaurant. We were glad that we didn't check the reviews on this site as they might have put us off. We were very surprised to read the bad reviews given our experience.We were impressed by the set meal option, which also included a complimentary coffee or an ice cream as part of an offer, and it was very reasonably priced. The starters and main courses were both excellent (the chicken satay was the nicest I've had in many years.) The drinks were very reasonable too, unlike many restaurants which entice you in with cheap food offers and then make all the money back in their drinks prices. It was quiet at the time of our visit, although we did go for an early dinner, however a lot of people were coming in to use the take away service which is also offered from the restaurant. We found the service to be very friendly and attentive, and we would recommend this to people I know if they were in Dumfries.

Mouldy chicken, greasy cold noodles, watery tomato ketchup instead of sweet and sour sauce - total rubbish! Would never go here again! Was sick for 3 days!!

Absolutely the worst meal I have ever had in my life! We had just picked up my car from servicing were all hungry and had spied the chinese food sign. The decor should have let us know what we were in for, more canteen than restaurant, but we were hungry and one of the party was sure her father had said the food was good. We ordered crispy duck, prawn toasts, crispy chicken in a pecking sauce and beef curry. The duck arrived hot on the inside coldin the middle, not a bone insight the microwave is obviously needing replaced. When pointed ou the owner said no worries, he would just pop it back in the microwave! Whenit did arrive back, it smelled like wet dog, along with a pitiful wilting cut cucumber and springonions came dice carrots! The smell meant that just wasnt touched. The prawn toast were fine. The beef curry didnt taste like crry at all the beef chewy and raw barely cooked onions, absolutely disgusting. We tried the shredded chicken which seemed to have tomato ketchup. I asked for the bill within two minutes of trying everything. The own asked what was wrong and I told him the meal was inedible. His reply was that people come for miles around to eat there , I asked him where they were (restaurant empty). Please please do not go here, the place should be closed down on trade description alone.
