Had a quick take away from here after work. The curry sauce was delicious The beef chow mein was delightful Salt and pepper chips could do with more onions and peppers but not complaining they were nice

Terrible food, sweet and sour sauce tasted very strange, fried rice was dry and bland and the prawn crackers were inedible. We ate a small amount and it went into the bin. To be honest the place looked dirty and had a scabby table you where you went up to order. This was obviously previously a dine in restaurant that changed to solely providing take aways. We were both up in the night vomiting. I would not recommend this place to eat at if you value your health.

Great takeaway food, wish that the ceiling would get fixed as no eating in food for a few years.

Found this little restaurant whilst spending the weekend in castle Douglas, so glad that we did!! The food was amazing, the rice was the most delicious rice that we have ever had, Chinese dishes were all delicious, so glad the other Chinese take away up the road told us we would have to wait two hours for a takeout meal as this one was so delicious. Staff were so friendly also. Thank you so much guys.

Was camping nearby and found this takeaway on Google. Really pleasantly surprised - a little gem! The best sweet and sour chicken balls I’ve ever had, everything was really hot and fresh. The curry sauce tasted a little bit like Katsu curry which isn’t a bad thing - delicious! And it was very reasonably priced too! Would definitely return if I was in the area. :)

The Chicken curry, chillie beef and chicken chow mein is absolutely lovely and their vegetables are fresh too.

The service was really quick and amazing. The noodles were very good but the meat dish i ordered came with raw tomatoes which made the sauce taste weird. Also, it was more like nuggets than meat. I am not picky with my food but i didn't like it.

Absolutely beautiful food, best Chinese in the Galloway. Cantonese style char siu fried rice may be one of the best dishes I've ever eaten, and not just out of Chinese food, so soft and aromatic

Great food is very tasty and has good portions, still at a reasonable price. However it is still takeout only.

Don't get me wrong, I know Chinese isn't health food. But this was just horrible. Chicken chow mein swimming in grease, the curry sauce had been put in the bag on it's side so it leaked out over everything, through the bag and all over my car floor. The spring roll had so much grease it disintegrated the paper bag and the bottom fell out of the bag as well as the roll. What was left of the curry sauce was tasty, what I managed to save of the spring roll was OK. I'm never going back.

Rather diaspointing. Curry sauce was like watery soup and too much of it! Plenty cubed chicken but a bit tastless except an over powering taste of mixed spices,gritty. The beef in black bean sauce was tasty enough although again swimming! Chop suey was also tasty but sloppy. Alot of the juices spilled over before we got the cartons out of the bag (messy)! Was all put together very quick, so fast service but maybe the microwave was used as said in pervious reviews? Happened to be our last night camping but have decided not to consider Chinese in that area again on our return! Took the edge off the hunger though!

Quite frankly.....awful. Cheap chicken leg meat and weak sauce in Kung Po. Second time ordering the same, and both now confirm. Cheap ingredients, inexperienced chef and result is very poor quality. Good luck!

Usually have beef curry. Which is ace but decided for a change and got sweet and sour chicken and a spring roll. Absolutely delicious!! Might even have another on Sunday 😀 Such welcoming staff and they always smile and deliver to your car if needed. Our favourite.

Driving all around Scotland I stop at many takeaways. Never have a thought of reviewing any because I enjoyed it so much. Curry sauce was beautiful, it was sweet but spicy. The gentleman on the door was the nicest guy.

Me and my boyfriend went here for chips and curry sauce 2 portions. Both violently sick up all night extremely ill !! Rather disappointing as I used to eat out at this place often. Unfortunately wouldn’t rate any more than half a star.

Son ordered chicken fried rice, he said it was good, but his girlfriend had crispy chicken noodles, and could not eat it, as it was swinging in sauce....my son then ordered her a chicken fried rice and she loved it, chicken well done and rice perfect... Remember has everyone different tastes, and these two like dry dishes.

Got a take out for the first time, ready in jig time. Very tasty and freshly made. Would definitely go back.

Due to covid they were only serving take aways, called ahead to order to save long wait sitting the car, but food as good as ever.

Reheated food. Prawn toast looked like it was microwaved, the lettuce it came with looked like it had been dragged off the floor and placed in with them. My spare ribs where definitely reheated as well, never had any as bad. If I could add pics I would. Very very disappointed.

During lockdown we have had 3 takeaways.All excellent especially shredded chicken in a special sauce.So tasty,great portions and value for money.

This place has went downhill if you ask me. Most of the meals are generic thrown together ones, nothing special. Frozen veg from Aldi seems to be getting used in their dishes rather than fresh. Their Spicy chips are the worst I've tried. I'm sure they do have some nice stuff on the menu but I won't be buying anything from there unless all the other Chinese takeaways in CD are closed.

If you want a good chicken curry go to the Chinese down the road from this place. I opened the container and it looked like gravy and full of oil, I had to throw it away after one forkful, it was way too salty! Change your curry sauce! It’s disgusting!

Without a doubt the worst Chinese food we have ever had! Other Chinese at top of road had an hour wait and now it makes sense why! Really really poor for the price! Lemon chicken tasted and smelt like toilet cleaner, chips must have been at least 2 days old and the satay dish... well haven’t a clue what that actually tasted like. Very disappointing!

Not the best Chinese I've had, was quite disappointed. The portion size wasn't great, very small. The chips weren't too bad, with the small amount I was given. the curry sauce was absolutely awful, tasted like duck sauce! Shame really as you guys were recommended!!

Stayed on caravan site and thought we would treat ourselves to a Chinese takeaway king prawn and chicken curry never seen Chinese curry sauce so dark and salty. King prawns more like shrimps but couldn’t eat the food because of the saltiness.chicken chow mein also full of soy sauce so very salty also inedible. Salt and pepper ribs well again fat too much salt. Will Never go back waste of our good money

Staying in Sandy hills so ordered meal at 5:30 over the phone which was Cantonese crispy duck with cashew nuts & a large spring roll, to pick up for 7:30. Got there and had to wait an extra 15 minutes for food, considering I rang 2 hours in advance. Got back to lodge and plated Chinese, totally wrong order! The sauce was bland and more gravy like, it contained chicken, tomatoes and no cashew nuts, the spring roll was literally packed with bean sprouts and one baby prawn. Would NOT recommend and will not be returning. We’ve been a few times past visits and normally okay.. this time disappointing!

Decided to get a take away meal for a group celebrating a birthday party, I ordered chilli chicken, it was cold and inedible. The sauce was almost pure vinegar, the meal was a congealed mess, it was the worst Chinese meal I have had. The majority of everyone's food was put in the bin, wished I had opted for fish and chips from the local fish and chip shop. I would never eat food from the Jade Palace again.

Still just the take away running just now but our meal last night was fantastic x hopefully they hold onto this chef

The Jade is a CD institution. The food and the flavours are always first class and the fact that the place is usually always busy with takeaways and sit down meals is testament to this. Ok it’s not the fanciest of places, the carpet could do with a good shampoo and the toilets are horrible (I try to avoid having to go.....) but the food is fabulous.Never had a bad meal there in 20+ years. Always excellent banter and friendly faces. Thank you Charlie and team.

Came for dinner on a Friday night. Inside the restaurant is very dated but don't let this put you off. The food was all lovely especially the seaweed and crispy duck! Would definitely return.

On holiday in Castle Douglas and decided to have our usual Chinese takeaway Chicken Maryland from the Jade Palace......huge mistake. This is the worst Chicken Maryland we have ever tasted. The batter was soggy, the "bacon" was artificial and the chicken not nice and was all binned except for the chips, so we ended up with the very expensive portion of chips which were average. We certainly would never use this place again. The only redeeming feature was that we didn't have long to wait for the order.

For those who enjoy good Chinese food I would definitely not recommend this place - I would describe the food as adequate at best. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and it wasn't expensive, although the decor could do with some TLC.

Large restaurant with take away thankfully, always busy with takeaways as the restaurant urgently needs a refurbish. The menu doesn’t change sadly but the staff are very friendly and great with kids.

Lunch for 5 people, three courses each and soft drinks for under £40. Food was absolutely amazing too. Outstanding.

Absolutely disgusting place to sit wallpaper is now brown not seen paint in about ten years ceiling ready to collapse on customers food all microwaved if the restaurant is anything to go by I would not like to see the kitchens I have reported this place to food hygiene services plz avoid

Very decent food and prices from this Chinese in the centre of Castle Douglas! Could do with some sprucing up but still a very decent chinese! Ps- try the shredded chicken in special sauce! Very very different!

Found myself staying near Castle Douglas with a colleague on a Thursday night. There ia not a lot of choice around for eating, but this was good value for money and pretty tasty too.

Just wow, few Chinese places get it just right, this is definitely 1 of them. I would be going there again on mt next trip to the Galloway. I am looking forward to seeing the friendly members of staff as well as the amazing food. I wanted to take more home but I ate so much I was full. Decent portions and excellent dessert menus as well. If there is anything you want recommendations the staff members would be more than happy to explain and help you out. Well done ✔

Last week working near this town but came again tonight on banquet night..... not for the faint hatred lol .. iv has the same two people and I’m on my own lol ......... the staff are great and to be faire good crack !!!! Fully recommend this and I love curry

Very very poor take away, stupidly enough that's the third time they have sold me re_cooked food, silly me for going back. This time was sweet and sour pork which had 2 obvious batter coatings on it, was rock hard.

Collected my order and drove all the way home to find I’d been give the wrong food. Phoned up and they told me I needed to come back in to swap it. When I arrived I got no apology and was told that it was my fault for not checking I had the correct food in the bag! Not impressed! Poor service!!

We’ve been using this Chinese for almost 30 years. Mainly for carry outs. The food is great. Don’t be put off by the decor. Busy venue with diners and take away/carry out customers.

I ordered a takeaway to collect 45 minutes later. When my son arrived he told them who he was and asked for other food. It wasn't ready. After waiting 20 minutes he called me to say the food still hadn't come out. My husband called to find out the problem. First he was told it was late as they were so busy and then the waitress stared arguing/telling off a colleague saying she had called out our order twice. My son didn't hear them call at all and doesn't believe they did as he was waiting anxiously for the food! My husband was gobsmacked at the lack of customer service and they way the staff talked to a colleague whilst he could hear. No apologies at all. One dish was wrong when opened so my husband called again and spoke to manager this time. He was at least apologetic. Although the manager was decent we are not confident about returning now.

We visited the Jade Palace after reviewing Trip. There were many good and excellent reviews, I have to wonder, where do these people normally eat that their standards are so low?

We ate here twice in our week's stay. Wide choice on the menu. Service was fast and friendly. Good value.

Ordered a takeaway on Saturday for the first time. Was advised it would be an hour as it was a £70 order. Arrived to collect it and the restaurant had lots of people waiting for takeaway in the doorway. It was actually 2 hours in...

Had the set meal for 3. Flavoursome meal at a very reasonable price. More than enough food and drinks at good price. Staff cheerful and polite. Was reluctant to try it given some of the other reviews but the good reviews seem to out weigh the bad so we gave the Jade Palace the benefit of the doubt. Pleased we did and would recommend it and we call in again next time we are in Scotland :-)

Never been in a Chinese restaurant like this and hopefully never will again. Toilets shocking Staff arrogant Eating hall shabby. They ripped me off as I was with my 6 year old on my own. He will not eat much. But on asking for half a duck to share. I said I will see if we are still hungry afterwards. A minute later I heard the dodgy Chinese man with a Glasgow accent say loud in the kitchen make it a small half a duck he thinks he is going after eating it, as he only has a small boy with him, Hay. The duck was strange also. Not like usually found in restaurant. Not good. Maybe 🐈 I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The full restraint is needing an up grad what we had was ok toilet had a power extension runing up the wall in gents to power light my wife said ladies toilets are needing upgraded

We were in Castle Douglas on a damp Sunday night and luckily spotted The Jade Palace (at around 6-30pm). A bit of a 'hot spot', actually, with most tables occupied and a constantly changing group of people waiting for takeaways. Their business is certainly good...

With lunch at £5.10 for 3 courses we thought we couldn't lose but sadly the food didn't live up to expectations, the chicken & mushroom soup was bland & tasteless, the accompanying roll was lovely though, the main courses beef curry & chicken Chow Mein were uninspiring & the apple tart & cream tasty but tiny. The restaurant itself was dull, dark & dreary in desperate need of a makeover, the staff unfriendly & service was rushed, as frequent visitors to this type of Chinese Restaurant I'm afraid we won't be back

Have had many lunches here over the years and still think that it offers good value for a three course lunch - less than £5 per head. Spare ribs are a whopping £1 more. Haven't been in the evening so can't comment on that. All appears clean but rather dated decor. However, midday value is very good.

We ate as a party of 7 last weekend. Have been coming here for years and never been let down. The food quality is always top notch. The decor is very dated and in need of some TLC but the staff are always friendly and you are made to feel welcome.
