5/11/25 My friend found a good rating on Tripadvisor, so we decided to take the ride for lunch after attending church at the Dumfries Baptist Church. It's a lovely restaurant filled with many American memorabilia. The service was superb, especially our last server(can't recall his name), but he was very attentive and very friendly. He actually took the time to stop and chat. We both ordered the lamb dinner with Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, herbed sausage stuffing, and mixed fresh veggies. All was delicious. The only complaint was that the lamb was a bit dry and tough. Other than that everything was perfect! We topped the meal off with sharing a hot fudge sundae with crushed Reeses peanut butter cups! It was a great way to finish the meal and well worth the trip!

This is such an atmospheric place. The Snug is where Robbie Burns would sit with friends. It is small with dark wood panelling, very cosy for a pre dinner drink. The restaurant has a lovely feel to it, again dark but cosy. The food was amazing. We had delicious canapés, gorgeous bread with flavoured bitters, and an exquisite amuse bouche. I then had sea bass to start and my husband had John Dory. The flavours were fabulous. My husband couldn't decide between the halibut or guinea fowl so the chef kindly cooked both! My main course was cauliflower and miso pasta with artichokes. Everything was delicious, presented beautifully and served by the friendly, knowledgeable and professional front of house team. Unfortunately, we couldn't manage dessert. The wines we chose were perfect. An amazing experience, thank you.

Have passed this place quite often when visiting Dumfries. I had never popped in as the shopfront is a little uninspiring. However, I was wrong as I finally went in today and the food and service was first class. Prices were good too. No more passing by when next in the town. Straight to Molly Mae's Tea Room.

This is where Google's rating system falls down. 4 stars= like, 5 stars = love. I more than liked it, not quite loved it, so 4½ stars for "enjoyed"? Anyway, service was excellent. Everyone very friendly and helpful. It was busy too which is always a good sign. I had the chicken liver paté which was smooth and delicious served with a little too much onion chutney and a combination of oat cakes and soft fresh bread, which was a little unusual but good. Main course was a bold combination of scallops, haggis, creamy smoked haddock and pressed new potatoes. It was delicious but the haggis was very strong and peppery so if you weren't careful the delicate flavour of the beautifully prepared scallops could have been lost. I also suspect they could save a small fortune by using at least half the pea shoots for garnish than they do. That all sounds very critical but I honestly enjoyed it very much. Even the house red was very nice, rich and smooth. Thank you

Wonderful authentic restaurant Great service and atmosphere. Excellent menu choices. Nice wine. Fantastic home made soup, hot and very flavourful and superb steak pizza, with proper light, perfectly cooked dough, great flavours, with fresh tomatoes and rocket and the steak was beautifully cooked fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant.
