Lovely spot for coffee and cake. It has a nice outdoor area too for warmer days. The artwork and textiles for sale looked beautiful We stopped here before some years ago before it was expanded and as we were driving through we remembered it was a nice little cafe so revisited. Would go again when in the area

23/12/24 Booked in for the 'Festive Menu' & it was the best Christmas dinner I've had in a long while. Very well presented & tasted absolutely gorgeous! We ate in the bar, all beautifully decorated & a lovely atmosphere. All the staff were very friendly & accommodating. We are new to the area & will definitely be dining here again.

Beautiful family run hotel, the food was exquisite, beautifully presented and very tasty, the Robert was extremely tentative seeing we had brought a bottle of wine came along with a wine cooler, the attention to detail was second to none, he also gave us great advice on visiting a beautiful local church which was a must see , and only around 5 miles to visit Gretna Green and a few hundred yards from the English/Scottish Border we just can’t wait for a return visit Thank You for a memorable visit.

We ate here and finished our meal, the waitress cleared away and we decided we'd have another round of drinks before leaving. We waited 5, 10 minutes and the waitress never came back. I went in search of someone but couldn't find our waitress. I didn't like to open the doors to the kitchen. We waited another 5 minutes and my wife said 'this is ridiculous' and went off in pursuit. She found our waitress in the bar (was she watching TV, did she fancy the barman?) and asked if we could get some service. The waitress said 'the restaurant is closed', as if we were being unreasonable in expecting to be served a round of drinks. No, the restaurant isn't closed if you've still got people sitting at a table you're serving and you haven't asked them if they want a dessert or offered them the bill but simply buggered off. So we said OK, can we just pay the bill. Which we did, and obviously didn't leave tip. We won't be going back.

I cannot recommend this place enough, it is spotlessly clean. Served by excellent staff and the food is delicious, presented well and reasonably priced. The general ambiance was relaxed and although I’m not keen on tv screens, they weren’t over bearing. I would definitely revisit as they allowed our pooches in. If their bedrooms are as clean and as good as their food is - it would be a great place to stay!

My SILaw Betty & I had a lovely lunch at the Leadmines Cafe. Food was fantastic cooked by Nicky and extremely tasty. Rory made a lovely cup of Herbal tea to go with the lunch. Lovely staff!! Wanlockhead is a lovely place to go with the rolling hills and beautiful wee new born lambs running all over the fields. We had a first class trip to Wanlockhead and will go back again. Just popped in for a drink one afternoon. £7.20 for a coke and a cappuccino! Airport prices! Despite prices clearly marked on menus, when I queried the amount I was told prices had gone up. Was the cappuccino instant? Tasted like it.

On holiday for the week, travelled an hour there and an hour back for a take away. Never had such an inedible meal before. Firstly two items missing from the order when we got back, ordered a chicken Pathia, the meat didnt taste like real meat and the sauce was disgusting, tasted nothing that resembled a curry sauce more like a tray of warm cheap tomato ketchup. Poppadoms tasted of old oil. Calazone tasteless and chips dry and reheated, please do not waste your money.

We had previously stopped off here for lunch many years ago when it was operating as Glenwhisk Café & Bistro and had fond memories of the attractive interior which featured nice furnishings and paintings by local artists on the walls for sale. The food was “home made” with a good selection of dishes and they had a superb display of home bakes, all very reasonably priced. There was a good ambiance about the place. What we experienced this time around was a complete contrast. The furnishings were basic and an area which had previously contained a couple of comfortable settees now resembled the furniture section of a charity shop with a large collection of unmatched old looking settees packed together side-by-side. The tables had a lonely potted plant for decoration. The other two customers were just leaving. The menu was fairly limited however since it was possibly the only place in town to have food we kept it simple by both ordering a ham & cheese toasty and a couple of Americano coffees. The toasties were duly delivered on a side plate with no garnish whatsoever, together with mugs of coffee. We don’t know if it was due to the cooking method (perhaps deep fried?) or the fat content of the cheese being high, however the toasties were literally dripping with grease. I could almost feel it blocking my arteries with each bite. My wife persevered and finished hers with a struggle but I had to give up and actually leave a piece of the small offering on the plate, I think a first for me as regards having a toastie for lunch. The sad looking tray bake selection on display was not tempting so we decided to pay the bill and depart. The final blow was that our lunch surprisingly cost £21 for something of a disaster. By comparison had we visited Jinty B’s Tearoom in nearby Thornhill, toasties served with a salad garnish and coleslaw and a couple of large coffees would have set us back £13.90 and more importantly would not have given us indigestion for several hours afterwards. I don’t wish to be unkind however this takes the award of our poorest ever café experience, astonishingly in the same venue which once housed a very good one.
