Pretty cafe with lovely food - very friendly and clean and the Viennese finger was the lightest, most delicious I’ve had in a while

Whilst staying in the area we called in for coffee and cake after we completed the riverside walk. The coffee and cakes were reasonably priced although it is cash only (we nipped to the Post Office in the Premier shop and got cash) and the food menu looked lovely, hopefully we will get chance to visit Poppy's again whilst we're here. The tea room is well equipped for children and my son enjoyed playing with the toys whilst we enjoyed our coffees. The staff were very friendly and brilliant with my 3 year old when he asked them where the play park was.

A really nice café, confectionary and takeaway. The food quality and service are both excellent and prices are very reasonable. It is a very child friendly establishment with a broad menu choice including home made offferrings. In the front section one can buy freshly prepared sandwiches and home made cakes to take out. If in or passing trough Kirkconnel it is worth ensuring you are peckish and calling in here.

There are very few places to eat in Kirkconnel during the day and this really bright and cheerful cafe is a blessing, however it's 'front of shop' business seems to absorb the staff's attention to the detriment of diners. I had a 'small' soup with my reasonably generous toasty and the soup was 'micro' for the price. An extra £1 for the garnish seemed a little steep. I waited as long as I could to be asked if I wanted a pudding and like my neighbours eventually gave up - the staff never came through and they weren't short of staff. The coffee seemed to be 'granules' only. The toilet is unisex but they do have a disabled toilet as well. Best not to sit next to the door though. The tables are mostly for six. Make sure you have cash as they don't take cards. No autobanks in this small town however the Post Office can help with that. Plenty of parking, a regular bus service and the railway station is a few minutes walk away.

We visit Poppy's on a regular basis and it never disappoints!...The staff are wee gems, friendly and helpful. The food is scrummy...try the vintage tea..it is perfect and very reasonably priced..it's not however in a garden centre next to the river, but that in no way detracts from the lovely ambience...and warm welcome! Rita's scones are to die for...don't leave kirkconnel without a visit! 😃

Had Lunch in Poppies last week whilst on holiday in Scotland. What a find this place is..set in a lovely garden centre on the waters edge the food is exceptional and the service likewise. I would heartily recommend anyone in the area to search it out and try the wonderful food. I will definitely be back.

A lovely warm welcome from the Lady serving us and so far the best breakfast I have ever had in Scotland (and I've had a few). Cafe is spotlessly clean and prices are fair, well worth a visit in my honest opinion.

This cafe served the worst scone I have ever had / didn't have. (and that's saying something as I'm in my 70s and have had a few in my time. You could build a house with a few of them. Inedible expensive rubbish. It came in a paper bag, no plate and a wooden disposable knife which struggled to cut it. The coffee was served in a paper cup. But was drinkable. Cost over £13 for two coffees and two inedible scones. I am disgusted and will definitely won't be back

Visited the Frothy this morning for the first & very last time as the cafe is closing. Whilst the cafe was comfortable the coffee wasn’t the best ever tasted and we were stunned at the price! Compared to other coffee houses close by it was surprising; could this be a reason they are not finding it profitable?
