The beef curry with fried rice was absolutely delicious, the beef was very tender and the curry sauce was very tasty, we also had the salt and chilly chips which were fantastic as well, would definitely be back and would highly recommend.

Lovely Staff, great food. The owners do not speak English, however the staff are always happy to help with any questions or requests you may have.

only one word to say - the food was excellent.(sorry more than one) the BEST chinese food we have had.

A disappointing experience. It’s a waste of time ordering over the phone because they don’t start cooking your meal until you arrive. So if you’ve ordered for 6pm you might get your takeaway at 6:30. They will tell you and anyone coming in to order there will be a 5 minute wait - it won’t be, it will be 20-30 minutes. Just be honest. I’m not sure where they find the counter staff but think dim, unwelcoming, mumbling, unsmiling and impolite. To top it all the food is dire with no taste. They only take cash.

Our first visit to ‘Jade Garden’ and it won’t be our last. We had Chicken and sweetcorn soup, king prawns with mushrooms in black bean sauce and beef with ginger, spring onions and black bean sauce. Delicious. Ready on time. 20 mins. Piping hot, even after a 10 min drive home. Great to have a good takeaway near by.

Always get tasty and well cooked food from here. Love the Singapore rice noodles. Mongolian beef too. Chicken spring rolls always a winner too! Wish there some some more traditional Chinese dim sum but still a firm favourite for an easy dinner.

Been a few times and will never be back again ..my son got chicken balls …food poison with there chicken ..it’s been out of date or not cooked through..my son is absolutely ill..called nhs24 cause am that worried about him…this is not acceptable…Chinese will be held accountable..please folks be aware of this takeaway

Best Chinese I’ve ever tasted! We came here during a weekend away! The food could’ve been a bit hotter and we did have to wait quite a while but it was definitely worth the wait!

The best Chinese in Dumfriesshire, I love the salt & chilli (small beef) not the crispy beef, the beef is really tender , I also recommend Singapore chowmein( large noodles)it’s spicy and really tasty, the owners are friendly and will cook to your requests.

Best (and only?) bean curd sweet and sour in Dumfries and Galloway. Good price, always friendly. Never waited more than 20 minutes for freshly cooked, piping hot food.

Waited an hour for one meal. Which was wrong then stone cold. Staff attitude shocking and faces tripping them. Shocking service all round

Surprisingly good takeaway. Vast menu with scrumptious food and good portions. Obviously freshly made to order. Phone order for collection and reasonable prices too.

The second holiday we have used this restaurant over the past few years. The food is excellent, freshly cooked & with good portions. Slightly different to many Chinese meals in that many of the dishes are fairly spicy (hot) but you soon get accustomised to it. Cash only accepted and closed on Tuesdays. Take away only.

Honey chicken had no taste and so tough couldn't chew it. Friends chow mien was all hard chewy meat . Expensive and awful

I have food from here at least once a month, it has always been brilliant. I even travel through from Dumfries to get my Chinese here from Thornhill as there’s nowhere in Dumfries which is as good. The salt and chilli munchie box is an absolute winner.

Food is always well cooked, and never greasy. Good selection so something for everyone. If you like spicy then the Mongolian Beef is delicious.

These negative reviews are shocking! This was the best Chinese my family have likely ever had, every dish was hot, tasty (multiple starters and mains) and not coated in oil like other places, even the chilli squid was delicious and crispy! Excellent portions compared to our local takeaways too. Very much recommend!

Absolutely disgusting and phoned to complain but all young girl would say is you keep cutting out. This is the second time this has happened the first being several months ago thought would try again as just opened after lockdown but won’t bother again drive to Dumfries instead or get delivery from Sanquhar.

Thought from the take over that this place was much better.Always order off the main menu but tonight I went for their all in one menu and ordered ribs and soup costing £15.60 all together.The all in one menu says served in a box with a drink included. When my food arrived they said drinks only included in £6 menu. This doesn't say this on the menu, see attached photo.The server phoned her boss to back her up, food returned and got money back. Some poor sucker will get reheat food now.Thank god Sanquhar are experimenting with deliveries.Watch out, that you don't get over charged or underserved, especially if you're getting a set meal.

Food is always fresh and hot. The chicken spring rolls are delicious. All the salt and chilli dishes are excellent. Have also tried a variety of different things from the menu and have never been disappointed.

This take away is vastly improved under new ownership. Great menu with loads of options. If it says its spicy it is spicy so be careful!

3rd review over many years. Without doubt the new regime here were onto a winner from day on if their reincarnation of this take away last year. It just couldn't have been worse..... We now have a very passable option in Thornhill for Chinese food.

We had the best Chinese takeaway on New year's Day evening. The service was friendly, the food was fresh and tasty, and the portions were HUGE! Will definitely come back!

Had some spicy stuff = Mongolian beef, kids had chicken fried rice, beef in black pepper with oyster sauce and was brilliant - tasty, hot and the staff were polite and quick. So much better than was.

Back again after a 2-year absence. A change of management, chef and menu have greatly improved this wee takeaway.

Food has always been good since this place came under new management and was revamped. The girl taking my order tonight was abrupt to the point of rudeness. Won’t stop me coming back but a bit off putting. Maybe she could have an attitude revamp?

Used to avoid this place for years but gave it a go when I heard there was new management and glad I did! Food was all delicious and not at all greasy like it used to be. Salt and chillie chicken wings were great and the Mongolian bees was spicy and full of flavour. Will definitely be returning!

Fancied a Chinese for tea. Good quality food, prompt service and a decent price. Wouldn’t hesitate to use again if i was in the area.

We had an excellent takeaway meal from the Jade Garden. Order was taken promptly by polite staff. Food was ready in 15 minutes. We were not disappointed- everything was hot and tasty.

Ordered on the phone and went to collect an hour later. Waited a further hour only to find out that the order was never processed. Absolutely disorganised chaos. Front of house scruffy and unprofessional. Kitchen lost complete control of the orders. We walked out followed by three other people equally disgusted by the abysmal service. Can't comment on the food because we never got that far.

Disgusting unless you’ve been starved for days. There is certainly no chef that works in the kitchen. It’s been the same for years bland and tasteless. Avoid folks

Been coming here since moving to Closeburn 2½ years ago. Whish we'd discovered it 6 years ago when we moved to D&G.; Sat outside waiting for it to open now. Foo yung, spare and sweet n sour chicken are spot on! Lovely grub

Hands down worst Chinese ever!all the locals say one thing over n over again......only eat from there if your stuck and chippy is shut!its sauces r awful n just vinegary and batter dishes the batter is like a kfc not light n fluffy.complain and they play the don’t understand card

This is the only Chinese take away in the village, so no competition. Therefore we’ve used it often usually only when drunk(you need to be to eat the food). Most dishes we’ve tried not only look the same but taste the same. Mono sodium glutamate and nothing else!

Had 2 lovely takeaways whilst staying in Thornhill, plenty of choice, food cooked quickly, good value for money.

food was just ok. Took longer to cook than they said and the take away was very quiet at the time. Could do with a re do it looks very run down.

Been here a few times, was really good 10 years ago, it sadly went downhill since, felt like a Chinese on Thursday, while in Thornhill, big mistake, food was terrible, had a special curry, sauce was like dirty dish water, chips were over cooked, wife had tasteless rubber chow mien, grandson had some burnt chicken balls, won't be back.

Pedí pollo al curry y patatas fritas para la cena esta noche. Llegamos a la casa y abrió el plato. . . . Excepcionalmente decepcionado. El pollo era una consistencia extraña - sin sabor y la salsa de curry y malos era un color divertido y la consistencia del agua? ? ? Esta no es la primera vez que me han planteado preocupaciones acerca de la mala calidad de la comida. Salsa aguada, un pollo al curry anteriormente con cebollas, no extraño degustación de pollo son cã un par de cosas previamente experimentado. La cena era la comida es mala calidad tonights no hay otra forma de describirlo. Yo no utilizará este tome forma de nuevo.

No me malinterpretéis, no es genial, pero parece haber elevado su juego y daría un informe normal ahora. El personal es amable y agradable aunque un poco ditzy, el servicio podría ser más rápido, pero los precios eran razonables, así como las raciones.

No entiendo donde todos los odio por este para llevar viene de. Estoy de acuerdo, no es nada excepcional, pero no es horrible. He estado varias veces, la comida sabe bien. Yo nunca he tenido ningún problema con ella. Disfruté de mi comida. Sin duda no era el mejor para llevar comida china que he visitado en mi vida, pero no tengo ningún problema con ello. Mi principal consejo para mejora sería para asegurarse de que la salsa es un poco menos aguados y asegúrese de que se sirven a los clientes con una actitud positiva de trabajo. Aparte de eso, es un sitio bien.

Evitar si es posible, correosos, pollo comida grasienta cã y sin sabor chow mein... Barato, pero no muy buena... binned la mayoría de nuestro para llevar

as chines food goes this was an experience I could have done with out food bland and yes that is right every thing came in a red/pink sauce even the lemon chicken go figure curry tasted weird like winter sweets

I wish I checked out the reviews before my visit to this 'Chinese take away' as it was simply the worst food I have ever had. Totally bland and straight into the bucket after couple of mouthfuls.Absolutely awful!

Adolf Hitler. Joseph Stalin. Pol Pot. Ivan the Terrible. These are some of the most unpleasant people who have existed in all of human history. And I wouldn't wish food as bad upon them as the food that is served at the Jade Garden. Just this evening (20/11/2014) I had the misfortune of eating some of their food. Red Soup, some Won Tons, some prawn crackers and a couple of BBQ spare ribs. All of the food had a strange, metallic flavor to it, as if it contained particulate aluminum. They even managed to get this aroma into the prawn crackers, somehow. The red soup tasted as if the chef had put an entire packet of dry chilli flakes into it, the soup was so spicy as to be genuinely inedible, while still having the mysterious aluminium flavor. Don't eat here. Trust me.

I have food 2 or 3 times every year from here since it first opened years ago. I have to say only twice was an item wrong. While I agree this can be very annoying a phone call fixed it for me I live close. I like the food and the people who work there are always nice.

ok,food was awful but even worse was that 3 items were wrong in an order for 2 people.No chips,sweet and sour sauce instead of curry sauce and somebody else's chow mein meal.Safe to say we will not be back and would rather spend extra time and money driving into Dumfries for a decent and correct meal.

I have never been so disappointed in a Chinese as I was with this service terrible then the food put it this way one mouthful rest went in the bin !! Honestly by a fiver meal deal and a few extras from supermarket at least it is edible !

Dull, bland and greasy.This is possibly the worst food I've ever eaten in my life.Family of four all agreed, absolute crap.

Keeping it short.Have tried over the last 10 years.Keep saying that I will never go back.Leave it a year , maybe 6 months.Keep hoping they can provide a passable attempt at enjoyable food.It just doesn't happen.I do not want to harm anyone's business.I would just like them to provide us with better. The lack of competition surely doesn't help.To top it all. The last time i went , i was struggling to find a dish on the extensive and appealing menu that I thought may taste better than my experience was telling me.So i asked if i could have a pork chow mein with a nice tasty sauce through it. I was trying my best to get something good.I offered to pay extra for this.I was told i couldn't have what i had asked for. .... How that works i do not know. I left with nothing. And felt better for it.I reiterate that I just want the jade garden to up its game. Maybe complacency has been the main ingredient in the dishes when passion and enthusiasm for the food and the customer should be first on the list.

Tried a number of dishes and tried my hardest to want to go back but ultimately, how do you get Chinese food this wrong? Everything tastes like it is swimming in oil. Anything battered, is, well, battered! So heavy and stodgy and greasy. I feel ill after eating it - I feel like if you squeezed me a cup of oil would come out.Its such a shame. Thornhill has quite good pizza from across the road and that is it for takeaway food. Granted it is a small town, but a good Indian or Chinese takeaway would be such a great thing to have. Jade Garden is sadly inedible.
