Tasteless. Crispy beef really soggy and tasteless. Been twice and spent a fortune. Very average. Won't be returning

working overnight in the area, spotted the restaurant on the main street. Ordered S+S Chicken Cantonese, plus FR. Two young Scots lads working Front of House were pleasant, food was quickly cooked, served in a cute little cardboard box. Quality was fine and a generous portion. £10, would totally recomend.

As I indulged in the succulent chicken, beef, and pork, all smothered in that creamy satay goodness, I felt like I had discovered a hidden treasure. It's a dish that brings together the best of Chinese cuisine in one unforgettable experience.

Food was the worst we’ve ever tasted, had to throw it away, if I’d lived closer I’ve have went back and asked for a refund. Chicken chow mein had some chicken but it was like leather, mainly made up of cheap chopped up processed Smokey food ?spam. Special curry was rank and made up of some curry powder All in all avoid at all cost I’d have been better chucking £20.70 out of window

No longer seems to be a restaurant, takeaway only from what I can tell. Food was delicious and portions were generous. We like fried rice with our meals, but no rice or chips were included with any of the dishes, which hiked the price up a bit. Was around £10 per person, which seems steep for take out but understandable when you realise rice or chips are not included in the prices. Cash only. We will likely be back here again.

We thought we would give this place a try when we're on holiday. We were so glad we did. We got two chicken curries, one fried rice, and a portion of chips. It was delicious, defo plenty for the two of us.

Even though it was a nearly £200 order it was rang through and then collected with nothing missing, free items, big portions, piping hot and tasted absolutely beautiful so a big thankyou from us all !

Bit overpriced, but the food was okay. Not a great deal of flavour in the sauce and the chips were not freshly cooked. Having to shout your order from one end of the room to the other is very poor customer service.

Ive got a caravan in burrowhead so pass this chinese fri and monday best chicken chow mein and breast of chicken curry you can buy also chicken balls curry sauce also vgood i always go in before i go home to take stuff with us

We’re Visiting Newton Stewart for a wee holiday. Definitely recommend Rainbow. Had 3 different meals and all very good. Veg curry, veg chow mien and special fried rice. Good portion of veg spring rolls and salt n chilli chips also very good. Veg was very fresh. Will use again.

Was told that this wasn't the best place to go but gave it a try and certainly wasn't disappointed food was decent and didn't have to wait long either . Will definitely go back

Nice Chinese! The mushroom soup, chips, ribs, chop suey were all lovely, but the rice wasn't great. Definitely would go again, we visited twice in a week!

Excellent service, good food. No seats as no eating in.

Food was nasty, soup was severely over salted and the main were just plain not good to eat so instead of eating £30 odd worth of Chinese it's hobnobs for dinner since they are edible.Dont reccomend and wouldn't touch it with a barge pool again. Avoid

Typical Chinese - ordered a takeaway from here, took about 20 mins to be ready. Soup is nice, Main meals are good, but avoid the Salt and Pepper Ribs, they are horrific 🤢 batter covered gross bits of Rib - no meat 👎

Just literally had takeaway from here, food was spot on, so much flavour, Canton Duck would feed 2 tbh, salt n pepper chicken so tasty, chicken balls perfect and duck and orange sauce, meat so nice, if you want a crispy skin I'm afraid you'll be disappointed but it didn't bother us, defo recommend

Asked for kung po chicken with large fried rice got back and it was sweet and sour chicken with normal rice and was charged £8.90 it was disgusting please stay clear of this rip off place

Worst chinese i have ever been to in my life, i had food poisoning off the chicken in the chicken fried rice and have been il for 2 days, completely ruined my holoday i am absolutely fuming i will never go here again worst i have ever felt in my life! Disappointed

The bottom of my list for best Chinese I’ve ever had. For 3 reasons.1. When my partner went in to collect the food, the blonde server was extremely rude with no manners.2. I (very light blonde hair) just opened the lemon chicken to a lovely piece of BLACK medium-long hair in the tub. :)3. The chicken was either over cooked, out of date or just sitting for far too long as it took a lot of chewing.Such a let down, I seriously don’t recommend this place, it may be a hit or miss but for first time buying from there it was a disappointment.However, the other women that works in there was very polite, her workmate should take some tips from her.(I put the hair on the white lid from the rice to show a better image)

Have to say I’ve started coming here because my first choice is temporarily closed. Food is lovely, very quick, and you young girl and the young guy especially who served me on the 4th March was excellent. Both so polite. Highly recommended.

First time to Newton Stewart area, needed a quick meal for family. Called in my takeout order by phone and was told 20-25 minutes... Standard. So went for a quick mooch aboot......picked up food after a further 15 minute wait in the street outside (covid restrictions).Food was about as bad as I've had. Terrible flavour, weak on quality, watery sauces and I genuinely expected to be 'up' throughout the night... I wasn't though, so they get a point for that.Unless you're desperate... Avoid...Oh, and the proprietor ought to note: phone customers can't see the sign on your door, I suggest you tell your staff to inform customers that you only take cash... Luckily I had the right amount on me... I now know about this, but it doesn't matter - we won't be back (ever!)AND WHO SERVES SLOPPY CHINESE FOOD IN FOLDING POLYSTYRENE BOXES...? RIDICULOUS!!!Newton Stewart, you deserve better!...

Food was lovely! Difficult to order due to the covid screen and location of the door/hall... lots of street noise disturbing the conversation between staff and customers

Me and a few business associates of mine entered the building for a meal at the time and when we entered we had to wait around 15 minutes for someone to attend us. When we were finally seated the entire area (from what we've seen) hasn't been cleaned for awhile, the food was extremely cold and the staff were a bit.. passive aggressive.

Food was good even though they brought our mains before our starters only downside was people queuing for takeaways watching people eating their meals also table behind us 3 women smoking their vapes

We found the menu in our lodge and decided to call up with a order, very quick service, big portions and very tasty food.

Ordered a family takeaway as previous restaurant (unicorn) had good reviews. Very expensive. Starter of salt and pepper rubs very dry. Mains of special fried rice disgusting (see photo). Prawns and mushroom in oyster sauce slimy and dubious. All ended in bin as worried it would make us ill. Avoid at all costs.

I have been to this restaurant many times. The food was still so delicious and the boss was still so enthusiastic.

This Chinese used to be the Unicorn where we had excellent service & great food every time without fail. I'm not sure when it changed hands but it has certainly gone down hill service wise.We were "greeted" (& I use that term very loosely) by a girl who seated us by throwing down some menus on the nearest table. Not the the most welcoming of starts...We ordered two portions of pork chops for starters which arrived on stone cold plates. And it wasn't just the plates that were cold, so was one portion of the chops. The girl just looked at me blank when I complained & had to call someone else over. They were replaced without any sort of apology but at least they were very nice (though I have a feeling they were the returned ones heated up rather than fresh) The Singapore style chow mein was good but the fried chicken & chinese pork we really didn't like the look of as it was covered in some sort of dark brown gloop. To be fair we hadn't had this before so didn't know what to expect but it didn't look at all appetising . Strangely it had no discernible taste - which was a good thing - & we couldn't decide what it was meant to be. On the plus side the meat was fine & there was plenty of it. Considering the fact that I'd had to return my starter, nobody bothered to ask if everything was alright & were far more interested in attending to the takeaway customers which was doing a roaring trade. Going on the service we received I think they would be best sticking to the takeway trade.

Popped in for dinner while on Holiday, food tasted great and served quickly too. Got the chicken and black bean with rice, delicious large portions. 4 people plus drinks came to under £50 great price. Only downfall is the lack of privacy, people lining up in the entrance waiting for takeaway staring into the dining area when you're trying to eat lol! But would definitely recommend

Recommended in book we are staying in. On first night ,after a long day traveling, thought we give it a go, as my wife loves a Chinese and to tired to cook. Would have been better having beans on toast. It was awful, tasteless and expensive. Plenty of it, which went in bin. Avoid.

While staying in Newton Stewart we decided to try a takeaway from this restaurant, while the portions were very generous I am afraid the food was disappointing. I ordered a king prawn in batter and while the prawn was tasty and seemed fresh it was very rubbery and the batter was not good, it seemed as if the prawn had been dipped in batter and then dipped in breadcrumb making a very strange texture. My husband had a King Prawn and rice dish which was again a good size portion and had good amount of veg but was overall a bit lacking in flavour.. I would have to try another dish if I ever use this takeaway again,

The person you spoke to is a young member of staff whose English isn't perfect, and not the owner, who was away at the time, which is why you received the telephone call on his being informed. From what he can gather upon questioning the staff, apparently a glass shattered at quite a long distance away from a box of onions. The glass was cleared up, but it seems that some shards must have flown quite a distance un-noticed by the staff. The staff have been warned to be more vigilant to ensure that there is no repetition of any similar incidents. Once again, our sincerest apologies. Our offer to you made on the telephone still stands at any time. Rainbow

My partner and I found four shards of glass in chicken curry! Absaloutley disgusted! When confronted owner he explained that the glass was found in the onions and blamed the supplier, assured us the curry had been disposed of, needless to say we won't be back !!!

We were in the area on holiday and this takeaway was recommended this take away by a local person in one of the shops and we were not disappointed.We had an excellent take way meal, with fresh ingredients, and every one thoroughly enjoyed it. The menu was varied and the dished provided were delicious.We will definitely visit again if we are ever in the area.

Very poor food arrived 10 minutes before the chips. Waitress stretched across diners who were eating very poor . Needs a deep cleaning.

We stooped here for a meal. Nice and cosy place, service okay, food good but cold. I wouldn't stop here again. We've seen quite a few people taking food for take-away so might be take away is better.
