spicy hut, Sanquar in Dumfries & Galloway

On holiday for the week, travelled an hour there and an hour back for a take away. Never had such an inedible meal before. Firstly two items missing from the order when we got back, ordered a chicken Pathia, the meat didnt taste like real meat and the sauce was disgusting, tasted nothing that resembled a curry sauce more like a tray of warm cheap tomato ketchup. Poppadoms tasted of old oil. Calazone tasteless and chips dry and reheated, please do not waste your money.

i ordered a pizza and nachos, my nachos came cold with a tiny bit of cheese on top and no jalapeños, i also found little hairs in the cheese on top! the pizza was absolutely freezing and i was refused a refund after providing proof! do not go here!!!!

This takeaway rips the arse out of the Spicy Hut we order a mixed pakora, chicken pakora, curry & a naan everything was absolutely burn the mouth off you spicy we had literally 2 bites and binned the whole lot This was a £25 order as we were on holiday we just went without dinner that night it was vile even the nan was rancid. I would definitely not recommend this place.

Fantastic food and price. More food than we could eat. The flavours were amazing. Great service and friendly people, we were visiting the area and they told us nice places to visit.

We phoned in for a delivery while staying nearby, we ordered a small banquet as the prices were quite reasonable compared to our local ones. The delivery took an hour but we were told this when we ordered and the delivery driver was lovely. They did forget 2 things but they brought them straight back with no problems. The food was very nice, one of the best korma I've had for a while and portion sizes were massive, if we had known we probably wouldn't have ordered as much.... We even ordered some ice cream sundaes which were also delicious. We would definitely use this place again if we were staying nearby!

Missed some of our order. Told to make the hour long round trip to collect what they neglected to give to us. And to contact Food Hub for the partial refund. Greasy, poor quality food.

Perfect lamb tikka balti, and peshwari naan, flavour is amazing you can taste everything. They’re not stingy with the food, portion size fit for a king (or queen). The mixed kebab and pizzas are highly recommended also. Even the chips are tasty. Food is always hot and fresh Lovely friendly service from the owner and family, have been known to be very accommodating to needs in the past when we’re not going home and need a fork or extra box,salt, sauce etc. Can’t fault them at all, always look forward to passing through Sanquhar and hope they’re open!!

Avoid at all costs! Worst Indian chilli chicken ever. Basic tomato sauce, no heat, chewy chicken…all in the bin. Never again

Ordered a vegetable bhuna. While the flavor was ok they used chips as part of the vegetables! Won't be back.

We used the app to order and they emailed us to confirm our order at 5.40pm and said it would be delivered in 50 mins so should’ve arrived roughly 6.30. When it hadn’t arrived, I called at 7.00pm and was told it would be 20 minutes. Called again at 8pm and asked to cancel and get a refund. Was told the refund would take at least a week and a half. We decided to just have them send it because we figured there might be no chance of a refund. It finally showed up at 8.40 - 3 hours after we ordered!!!! They should not be accepting orders or committing to a 50 minute delivery time if they can’t fulfill that. The chips were cold. The ‘chicken tikka masala’ was actually a korma. The rest of it was greasy and very mediocre. No apology from them. Do not recommend!

I first tried this "food" a few years ago when I moved to the area and it was very disappointing; totally flavourless currys and the pizza, well it was wet bread with a topping. Now I am always willing to be fair so a couple of years ago I gave them another shot and ordered a delivery. It never arrived! I tried ringing them several times and they never answered the phone. Luckily it was cash on delivery so I was only left with 5 hungry people and not out of pocket. For some reason I thought I would give them a 3rd chance this year as they had been posting locally on FB groups that there was a new delivery service and people had given them positive reviews on their posts. Well, more fool me! The delivery did arrive and only about 15 minutes later than the 1 hour time frame given. The food was all soaked in fat and dripping. The Special mixed kebab only had donner meat and chicken, no lamb. The pizza was cold and the Special Munchy Box was 95% soggy chips! NEVER EVER AGAIN!

The food was incredible the kebab was overcooked, and the rice was black, which made me want to dance. I had Mexican over that night and they said the food was Indian. What they should do more is put some more of papas white sauce because that would spice up the flavour and make it Chinese. We love Chinese. We hate Indian. Love the food! Absolutely burnt! Can’t get enough of it! Do not recommend for white people.

Was over an hour late - when we rang to see where it was “thanks for your patience it should be 10 minutes “ then they hung up.everything was very greasy and salty . Not usually like that but makes us question whether to go there again

Lovely place and people, this spicy hut let's it down. Ordered food for 5.30pm. Delivery came at 4.40pm when still drying off from hot tub. Mentioned this for food to be shoved at me with no reason to be early. The fried rice and curry sauce turned into pilau rice, chicken tikka masala, less said the better but the rice came in a polly bag, ordered a donner hoagie no idea what it was but it wasn't a hoagie. Little ones chicken nuggets and chips was OK. Its a shame that the local have to put up with that type of crap. Be very afraid.... 0

This is supposed to be an Indian takeaway.... Whatever the so called Indian food is, it isn't either edible or Indian!! The food is disgusting and the pizzas are even worse.

So I have given this place loads of chances and the final straw was this week. £8 for a special shish kebab take away. Manky overcooked chewy lamb in a rank sauce. Their donner kebabs are terrible and had the worse tandoori mixed grill ever. 3 hits , 3 terrible meals. Wont be back.

Best food I have tasted in years and value for money recommended as takeaways go fast and efficient will be back

Had it on good authority that the food from here was very tasty and plentiful. They delivered to where we were staying the food was piping hot when arrived. Very enjoyable

I stop there quite regularly, as the food is always good. Freshly prepared and tasty. Well worth a stop

Ordered dinner through the app and to this day I'm still impressed by how quickly it arrived. The app worked well and was straight forward, there was no minimum spend and delivery cost just £1 more. I liked that you could choose the spice of the curries - we ordered two different dishes and both were just how we'd asked. I would highly recommend and would happily order again if I'm ever back in this neck of the woods.

Ordered a takeaway meal and it took over an hour and a half to be delivered. Food was good but over charged by £5. Rang them after delivery and asked why it was so much. They told me that the delivery charge has increased even though I have a current menu telling you the delivery charge is a £1. I then said that is still not the price correct price. He then tried to say he has charged me for the large portion of poppadom and onions. There is only one size on the menu. He still tried to worm his way out of overcharging me. He said ask the driver for the money back. The driver was gone as soon as he passed over the meal. He said he would try and get the driver to come back. Never turned up so if you want a meal delivered ask them how much when ordering before they try and rip you off. Spoilt what has been a wonderful stay in Sanquhar.
