Nothing like in the pics, a chaotic place which isn’t that clean. Toilets full of dust, loose toilet seat, crumbs on the floor near cake stand. The food was average for an average price but would I return, sorry no. Staff very friendly and helpful but the place seems to need to up its game. Gas bottles left loose in the place.

Tremendous pub. Really welcoming and both child and dog friendly. The pub it’s self is really tasteful and cozy inside with an open fire on cold days. Outside it has a lovely sun trap deck. We’ve stopped in for drinks a few times while holidaying nearby but decided to book Sunday lunch this time. We were not disappointed. It’s was absolutely tremendous. Meat cooked to perfection, huge portions and beautiful veg. The deserts were decadent and worth every penny. You need to book ahead though as it is understandably very popular and only serve till 4pm on Sundays.

The Del Amitri restaurant at the Powfoot hotel offers high quality food and a varied menu in a dining room with lovely views over the Solway. The pork belly and the cheese souffle were particularly good, and the wine/drinks menu was very well curated.

Absolutely incredible from start to finish. The food was amazing, every single course and the attention to detail was incredible. The staff were so friendly and described the meals perfectly. We can’t wait to visit again. Thank you for making our night so special!

This is a very special restaurant in unassuming premises, in a quiet village by the Tweed that you'd probably have no other pressing reason to visit. Seasons is reason enough! Impeccable food and service and real attention to detail, with an emphasis on local produce. Because most people just steam through this area on the way to or from Edinburgh without stopping to explore, the Borders is full of well-kept secrets. This restaurant is one of the best of them.

Attended for a one off taster menu (hope its not) and have to say all the courses were great, tasty and well presented. My only comment was I would have had the lamb pink (or asked how I would like it) and maybe next time a bit more adventurous with the wine paring (though the wines were good). Well done to team Salmon, the service was great. Really good to see a great local business doing something different... and not leave a taster menu feeling hungry! Great night!!

We stayed in Melrose at The Townhouse at the end of our UK holiday and this was probably the best place we stayed! It was just lovely. The room we had was huge with a lovely big bathroom and the bed was just dreamy. There was no road noise and the location was ideal being right in the heart of Melrose. The breakfast was terrific with lots of choice and the quality of the food was just ideal. Honestly, this is worth every cent!!

Delicious Sunday lunch with family whilst on holiday near Melrose. Two of us had the Sunday roast (beef) which was very good with all the trimmings cooked well. The other meals were very good too. We had a warm welcome and friendly and efficient waiters. We sat outside in the sun which added to the experience but the dining room also looked nice.

It’s in a unique location with no competition, so could have been an average offering, but I found the welcome warm, the service good and the hot chocolate and banoffi pie of a very good standard. The views are splendid, plenty of parking, toilets excellent, altogether a delightful visit.

This is the perfect place to sit for a coffee and a cake while waiting for family browsing the bookshops of Wigtown - or for a pit stop if you are on a bookshop marathon yourself. The staff are friendly and helpful. The chairs and sofas are comfy. The coffee is spot on and the cakes…Oh. My. Word! I had the apple and cinnamon and my husband had the lemon and ginger. Both were so light and utterly delicious - I was told the owner bakes them all herself, and my goodness she is good at it!

authentic Italian restaurant with lots of charm & traditional vibes. The early bird 2 course menu is excellent value for money at £13.50 pp with all the classic dishes on. We opted for the regular menu, i had the calamari fritters & sea bass with mushroom ravioli ( was lobster on menu but they had run out). The fish was cooked to perfection & the ravioli was amazing in the red pepper sauce. My partner had panzenolle ( probably spelt that wrong but it was pieces of pizza dough with a garlic mayo dip ) & steak diane. He said the steak was one of the best he had, very tender. The restaurant was full, which apparently it is mostly, good atmosphere & lots of attentive staff. very good👍
