The best thing to have ever happened to the Kinlochleven area. This fabulous Chinese takeaway replaced the dreadful fish and chip shop on the site. The food is unbelievable, portion sizes will ensure you have more than enough, fantastic staff and I can't truly express how helpful they are.
People are traveling from the much wider area to come to this gem and I can only say that I totally understand as it's the best Chinese takeaway I have ever been to.
Popped in here recently on a trip through Wick to Dunnet Head - Got a cheese & tuna toastie and a latte which were both excellent.
Owners were really friendly and the price reasonable considering the location - Have a feeling they could charge 2/3 times the price - being on the NC 500 - but choose not to.
Will certainly return.
We went for takeaway before getting ferry to Stornoway. Ordered an egg roll and bacon and egg roll. On opening when we got to our car we could not believe how poor they looked. Toasted stake rolls, overdone fried eggs and overdone bacon. Will not go back to this cafe again!
Visited today and ordered 2 drinks and 2 steak pie dinners. Service was fine but we could not eat the food. The meat was inedible. We couldn't cut it never mind chew it. The young waiter returned it to the kitchen, returned to apologise and agrred with us. Then he said there will be no charge... ....... really. Why would we pay when we had no food. Left and went elsewhere.
The food and drinks were excellent, several lunches including great soup and loads of coffee drunk over several visits. The welcome was amazing and while in the area in campsite I used their facilities as my ‘office’ several times - always a warm welcome and kind efficient service. Thank you!
Pleasantly surprised with the food and service supplied by the host Clive,he looked after us and chatted to us like old regulars.
Only 5 tables but a lovely experience.
Thank you Clive.
Visited for Sunday Lunch off the set menu - excellent value at £40 for 3 courses of such a high standard plus an amuse bouche. Family of 4 with our spaniel who was made to feel most welcome in the brasserie. Attentive staff, relaxed but professional service. We had 3x starters of tempura prawns and one venison which were all stunning. 3x roast beef with all the trimmings which was excellent, and yet at the same time disappointing compared with the salmon fillet on pea risotto - best thing I have tasted in as long as I can remember. Chocolate dessert which featured at least 7 different components. If you are looking for a fine dining experience at the same cost as a bog standard 3 course meal pretty much everywhere else this is the place. Highly recommended, we will be back.
The ice cream was delicious and the staff was kind and organised it was a very busy day and the staff managed to get our order at a decently fast pace and there didn’t seem to be any issues with other customers orders.
Overall great cafe !!👏👏👏
Have been here many times over the past few years.
Tiny bowl of soup, which was very tasty, and a small warm roll, which was also scrummy, for £7.25!
No background music. A suggestion would be steam railway soundtrack given the unique setting.
Also very poor practice to be sweeping up when customers are eating.
Unlike all previous, enjoyable visits.
Unsure if we will be back…
Despite cappuccino being served in latte cups it was good.
The wraps we ordered were virtually inedible.
Wrap was doughy and raw. Tuna mayo was dolloped without a care in the world. ‘Salad’ consisted of brown cress. Then we had to ask for cutlery and napkins. Oh and the crisps were soft.
There’s no excuse for not being able to serve up and appetising snack.
My recommendation: take sandwiches and a flask and enjoy the wonderful beach.
Used to come here a few times a year and it was lovely. Owned I think by an older person and had their family helping them out. Food was always good. Great views and lots of lovely gifts to buy. Came back to find the cafe and shop has new operators (the owners still own the place). The food choice was much less and I’m afraid I didn’t like the cake - too heard. The coffee however was excellent. Most of the gifts have gone too. I’m afraid it’s just lost something in the change. Work to do to bring back the sparkle.
