Used to come here a few times a year and it was lovely. Owned I think by an older person and had their family helping them out. Food was always good. Great views and lots of lovely gifts to buy. Came back to find the cafe and shop has new operators (the owners still own the place). The food choice was much less and I’m afraid I didn’t like the cake - too heard. The coffee however was excellent. Most of the gifts have gone too. I’m afraid it’s just lost something in the change. Work to do to bring back the sparkle.

Was really looking forward to popping in here. Had a long drive and had googled a nice cafe to visit en route. The reviews seemed brilliant. Went in just after 3pm and ordered a flat white and cake. There were no prices or labels on any of the cakes. The carrot cake wasn't sliced so I had no clue what size it would be or how much it would cost. But... the person serving cut me a very small, think slice. I was then rather shocked to find it was £4.50! Is that not a LOT to pay for a thin slice of cake? The flat white was £2.90. The cake was lovely, admittedly, but the price tag somewhat took away my joy. Then, just after 3.30pm (the place is advertised as closing at 4pm), someone started hoovering. I really felt as if they were desperate to close and I didn't feel relaxed with the hoover buzzing away. I'd have loved to give this wee place a glowing review but the overpriced cake and premature hoovering somewhat diminished my joy. I understand it's low season but still - paying customers are paying customers. Maybe I should've asked how much the cakes were. I would not have bought one if I'd known it would be £4.50 for such a thin slice. Such a shame because I had high hopes for my visit here. Maybe I was just unlucky. Otherwise, great wee place with nice views.

This was a great stop for lunch. We had soup, cheese scone and beef sandwich, followed by cake. Everything was delicious and we took a moment to browse the selection of products for sale. Highly recommend!

We often pop in on our way to/from Skye but we're really disappointed this time. A lovely establishment with friendly and professional staff. Coffee excellent as always but the brioches really poor. Heated in a microwave in sealed plastic made them mushy - they were tasteless and really unpleasant. The heated scones were no better. We wished we gone elsewhere when we had the chance.

Best coffee stop ever. I wasn't there for longer than 25 minutes but left a happy chap. Staff (owners) were all pleased to see people. Food and coffee was ace and such quick service. Watching people parking was entertaining while I enjoyed the surroundings. I rode straight past initially but the yummy wooden sign drew me back. Great initiative.

What a smashing place. However be careful because we went in for coffee and cake and came out with coasters and a scarf. The coffee and cake are lovely alone but added in with all the fabulous things to buy this is just a lovely place to stop at xxx

Fab little cafe and craft shop between Laggan and Dalwhinnie. Blink and you’ll miss it but it’s worth a stop. Good coffee and great bakes

This was a lucky find. Sitting in the courtyard under a cherry tree in the glorious sunshine reminded me of Provence. The cakes are delicious and homemade. You are welcomed in. This is a place enjoyed by both tourists and the local community which is as it should be. Lovely little shop too!

We visited en-route at the start and end of our trip to Skye recently (July 2021). Wonderful warm welcome both times from the young front of house lad, who made a great effort to look after our slightly grumpy wee Cavalier King Charles. The lovely manageress then came and also made a fuss of her both times. Beautiful courtyard setting, and utterly fabulous food. I had the best vegan sausage rolls I have ever eaten, and the citrus sponge was stunning. Guys, with great food and top notch service, you are an exemplar of how cafes should be run. Thank you so much!

First time back after lockdown and it was well worth the stop from Fort William to Glen Feshie. The coffee and sandwiches were all good and the courtyard was beautiful as we sat outside in the sunshine.

Always great home baking - best Gingerbread I've ever tasted and on this visit, easily the best Victoria Sponge! Fresh cream, strawberry jam AND fresh strawberry filling - definitely a Yummy Thing. Tartan Cheese scones ,if on the menu, are probably the best cheese scones too. There's some first class baking going on here, something I'm always highly critical of when out and about. Too many places rely on bought in commercial bakery stuff which is never great, but not here. Usually good soup on the menu but I'll often just have cake instead. I bought their cookery book years ago so have the scones recipe but got the gingerbread recipe separately from the owner (as long as I bought the book, good trade.) Lovely location too and only a 10 min detour off the A9 at Dalwhinnie. Nice wee shop selling some lovely things - quality soap products, range of clothes, rugs, good cards. A pleasure to sit in or in summer, outside in the garden area.

Wasn't sure what it was called or where I was but the timing of finding this cafe was perfect. Lovely butternut squash soup with a delicious slab of granary bread followed by coffee and carrot cake. Wouldn't hesitate to stop again.

COVID practices in place but our table was not wiped down until part way through our meal. Toastie was good but came after we had finished our drinks. On the plus side the chocolate cake was excellent and the scenery out of the picture window wonderful

Another visit to this lovely wee cafe. Great coffee and cakes. Savoury menu is a little limited, but cake usually does for us. But we could be tempted by a bigger choice.

The invitation to sample yummy things caught our eye on the journey and we turned in to discover a thoroughly delightful cafe with fabulous food, great character, wonderful service and an array of interesting items for sale. The views afforded by the large glass window are food for the soul - we'll definitely pass that way again!

Great place to stop when passing by. Great food, coffee and home baked cakes. Each time we’ve stopped for a brew but left with something else from the store to bring a bit of the highlands into our London home. Friendly staff and amazing views. Totally recommended...

We've driven pass this coffee shop so many times and finally got around to stopping this time for lunch. The food was beautfully presented on lovely pottery and the ambience of the place was very nice. The cakes looked delicious and there was a good range. Unfortunately the hot food is very limited to 3 types of toastie and one type of soup. The soup was some sort of thai green with lentils which was a bit of a gamble, so we plumped for toasties - cheese and tomato and ham and cheese. Both of them looked delicious but were just barely warm in the middle. This place looks lovely if you're going for coffee/tea and cake but I wouldn't return for lunch.

Quite a deep shop with local knitwear and other products but the real treat here is the quality of the tea, coffee and homemade cakes and scones. They were totally fresh, no need to "warm up" the scones, fruit or cheese flavours. Lovely staff, too, friendly and efficient. I would defy anyone to fault the place, for what it is.

Spotted this little cafe on our way from the Dalwhinnie Distillery and stopped by for a tea. The shop was absolutely lovely with local handcraft and other goodies, while the cake we had with our tea was absolutely delicious! Plus they had gluten free options!

We stopped here on our way from Fort Augustus to the Dalwhinnie distillery. Lovely and cosy with a great selection of cakes (home-baked) just what you need on a cold day. The lady was very friendly and helpful and had a lot of local knowledge which was great. Would definitely recommend stopping here for a quick snack if exploring the national park.

I have been here loads of times, mostly when it's in the old stone building and it's amazing in there- warm, dozy, inviting.... a few times, and this time, it's in the glass extension at the other side of the building and it's awful - always cold, too big, not cosy just not nice. Why change it to here?? And- normally there are about 8-10 fab home made cakes to choose from, today we had 2, plus another 2 single slices and a tart - not good, especially for a Sunday when lots of people go out for tea and cake. Now that I've had my no choice csje and am freezing cold I'll be off and won't be back until it's relocated into the stone building again.

Won't be back the owner is so rude . If you pay for drinks in a pub hotel . You expect a thank you. Total anti children our three year old was chatting and we Heard the owners rude comment about him . Also we took her seat . The poor lass who runs hand and foot for this person is so friendly it's the only reason we stayed so long . Won't be back and won't recommend to any of our family and friends that visit the port . Maybe someone will take over the Caledonian and make it a hotel and pub again . We have been visiting the port for 40 years and haven't experienced the unfriendly signal we got from the castle hotel .

What a fantastic find on our recent visit to Inverness. Brilliant wee cafe with extremely friendly staff. Great menu and selection of fresh cakes. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and to top it all they are doggy friendly which meant we didn’t need to leave our 14yr old pooch in the car. Would definitely recommend a visit.
