Ashes at the Phoenix in Highland

No se desanime si entras en la zona del bar, que es muy informal, como la zona de restaurante es precioso. Bueno, abundante comida y personal amable.

Fuimos un martes por la noche, entramos en el restaurante bar que pasado estaba vacía. Regresar al bar donde al parecer era camarero/barman sentado a. Él había visto nosotros caminar por pero no sienten la necesidad de darnos la bienvenida. Cuando le preguntamos si podíamos comer algo, nos avisaron que había una fiesta en el restaurante, y el bar sirve un menú limitado. Así, nos tomó un asiento en el bar, y pedimos una hamburguesa y sopa de tomate, que era básicamente todo lo que estaba disponible. No hay problema, no te puedes equivocar con una buena hamburguesa, ¿verdad? Chico, mal. La sopa estaba bien, pero la hamburguesa parecía que había sido frito. Fue muy seco, finas, y muy soso. La mejor comparación que se me ocurre es un trozo de cartón. Además algunos aros de cebolla fritos, lechuga y tomate, y había un poco de cebolla salsa estilo sirve por separado. No pudimos terminar la comida, pedimos la hora y salimos. El camarero no me pregunten si hubiera estado bien. No creo que hayamos comido tan mal en un pub antes, y ¡espero que no otra vez.

Fui hoy aquí ya que era el 70º de mi madre y simplemente sucede que fue el día de la madre. Tuve un asador increíble allí. Buena selección de buena comida. El servicio era bueno y las camareras y el chef era amable y un gran servicio. Muy recomendable

Fuimos con un amigo para una cena el viernes. No estaba lleno, así que realmente agradable ambiente. Haggis bombones eran absolutamente delishiuos! Tenía salmón para los principales y además era muy sabroso. Sin duda lo recomiendo y volveremos pronto!

Comida fabulosa, vino fabuloso, fabuloso servicio. Sin duda disfrutar de la noche. Excelente ubicación fácil de encontrar. Restaurante acogedor y confortable xxx

We ate at the restaurant (Ashes at the Phoenix) and I decided to do the Carvery while my wife got a pie (I believe). We thought it was very good and the prices were very reasonable as well! This was my first time experiencing a Carvery so I didn't know what to expect, but then I saw a group of Scottish guys walk by with huge plates of steaming food and I knew I had made the right choice. I'm pretty sure a got small portions of all the meat selections and then I packed on whatever else they had for vegetable sides. They even had Haggis, which I was wanting to try at least once while we were in Scotland. It wasn't bad. My wife was very happy that she got to go up to the side dishes area and get whatever she wanted from there as well even though she didn't do the carvery. This was a treat!

Sono stata in questo pub/ristorante due volte nei tre giorni passati a Inverness. Locale molto carino, da una parte c'è il pub mentre dall'altra la sala dove si può mangiare. Oltre al menù abituale c'è anche il menù del giorno. Insieme al mio ragazzo abbiamo provato la zuppa del giorno, il salmone scozzese, il petto di pollo con haggis, hamburger e filetto di cervo, tutto davvero buonissimo. Il personale sempre gentile, educato e non invadente.

Venison excellent, staff nice and prices very acceptable. A little quiet, Tuesday evening, but relaxed and comfortable.

We took a day and drove from where we were staying in the Cairngorms to visit Inverness. After walking around the town, we decided to try out Ashes of the Phoenix after reading it's great reviews. We must have caught them during their in-between hours as our only options for food at the time was the carver, which was totally fine, and had the restaurant almost to ourselves. The food was good, but nothing worth writing home about. The staff was very nice! Overall, a nice lunch and relaxing experience.

We went to Ashes for Christmas Day lunch after it was recommended by a friend. I was a little dubious, mainly because of the low cost. We were pleasently surprised. Very friendly service and although the menu was limited there was a good enough selection to satisfy our needs. An excellent meal with excellent service. I would go there again.

After a few friends suggesting ashes at the Phoenix I decided to book a birthday party meal for my niece, there were 10 of us in our group. As soon as we walked through the door we were taken care of, very accommodating for my grandmother who is in a wheel chair, she got in with ease (not like other places I've been) a choice of 2 succulent meats on the Calvary looked amazing, all the veg and tatties we could ask for were there also, lush Yorkies and lashings of gravy, the waiting staff really know what they're doing, the service we received I would expect to see in a 5 star hotel, the chef Chris was at the Carvery making everyone feel welcome , and yes Chris granny Ali will take you up on your offer lol a private joke. I doubt there are many places who could rival ashes at the Phoenix, made to feel welcome, taken care of , great fresh food in the heart of Inverness, oh and I can't forget our waitress Shannon who was and in everyone's opinion the best server ever, such a lovily girl who kept us entertained and helped us all sing happy birthday, thank you all and we will be back very very soon xx lots of love Sara and family

After reading the reviews of this place we decided to take a look. We walk in and there is only a couple of groups so it did not seem busy. We are informed that they are out of pies... no biggie as my wife thought the burger look delicious and I had my eye on the carvery. It took more than 45 minutes to get the burger and when it arrived it was missing a couple of items mentioned in the menu. I could not bring myself to give them less than poor as they allowed us to send the burger back and cancel it from our bill. The carvery was excellent.. just wished the experience had been better.

Lovely place with homely surroundings, friendly staff, great food - no need to cook and at the price charged, it' understandable why it's best to book in advance.

Love the ashes at the phoenix for food go here with the family most weeks as food is fab and the kids love it the family love the carvery and the choice on menu is fantastic.

Superb carvery which has luckily this year opened up inside my local pub. Relaxed, informal, welcoming atmosphere. Great food and great value. You won't find better in Inverness.

This is an absolutely lovely, lovely pub and the lounge is more like a really nice restaurant.

Arrived late for our meal,not a problem very welcoming ,pleasant bar,waitressing,catering.staff.We were seated at a table for four and the sublime experience began,drinks ordered and menu shown,plenty time to choose and advice

Booked a table for three without any problem. Food was good bar food, served efficiently and politely. Good value for money and in nice surroundings.

Abbiamo trovato questo ristorante un po' per caso e devo ammettere che non è stato niente male! Ho preso un piatto vegetariano con purè di patate, cipolline, cavolfiore e patate al forno più una zuppa del posto e una torta vegetariana squisita. Il mio ragazzo ha ordinato una torta salata con carne di pecora, in aggiunta alla zuppa del giorno. Al tutto bisogna aggiungere due birre per un totale di 31 sterline. Da provare!

Attentive staff with a sense of humour make the atmosphere very welcoming. The food is too good not to tell everybody about it. The roasted veg is unmatched locally.

Lovely carvery and self service veg. It was late in the day so some of the veg was a little overdone as it had been on the hotplate for a while, but it was all tasty and still good value. Terrific staff, friendly and welcoming. Soup was a bit disappointing as it tasted like liquidized mushy peas and a bit of ham thrown in. Proper grub!

We stopped here by chance, and it turned out it was our good fortune to do so. We have been on the road for two weeks, and it was refreshing to find a lunch menu that consisted of something other than a piece of meat stuck between two pieces of bread and chips or crisps. Once invited to the carving table, our plates were full of meats, veggies, gravy, and popovers. The atmosphere was great and the young lady who served us was extremely pleasant. Would definitely go back if in the area longer. Did not try the bar.

Service was excellent and the food matched it. We had the Carvery and it was lovely. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Had heard about the all day car very at Ashes so decided to give it a try. Very pleasant surroundings. My wife chose the turkey while I had the gammon. This was accompanied by chipped roast potatoes, mash, Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, carrots and peas, black pudding and gravy. At £7 a head you just cannot go wrong. A fine selection of ales to go with it. Highly recommnded

What a little gem!! Staff are so friendly and inviting from the get go....more like having a meal at a good friends house. The carvery was out of this world, cooked to perfection and with a perfect variety of vegetables, gravy and condiments. I really couldnt recommend this place enough...the prices are beyond reasonable ... Would it even matter?...would gladly pay twice as much and have done for food that doesn't come close!! Well done and please don't change this winning formula!

We called here while passing through Inverness on a weekday evening. We were warmly welcomed, our luggage was no problem and service throughout was efficient and friendly. The food was good, we both had soup of the day and took the carvery, choice of two roasts. The atmosphere lacked something, due to it being a quiet evening, possibly due to the poor weather. All in all our meal was good, well served and very reasonably priced. Will certainly return when in Inverness, and will have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to our friends.

I have been to this new resturaunt in Invernss twice and I have not been disappointed.

We came here on the opening night...pay what you think...all I can say is that we paid every penny as the food was excellent! We had the carvery and deserts, which were both more than worth every penny! Would definitely recommend and will definitely come back!

Decided to come for food before the monthly pub quiz (they serve a curry as part of the quiz night but we fancied trying the new menu).

Not in the mood for making a dinner so decided to try out the carvery dinner at Ashes it was be excellent and fantastic value . The staff were lovely Highly recommended to anybody looking for a lunch or evening meal/.

We saw the Phoenix pub when we rolled into town on our tour bus. We mentally took note of it and went searching for it for a bite to eat. We were completely blown away by the phenomenal customer service that we experienced. The Ashes at the Phoenix is located in the rear of the Phoenix pub. They have a carving station that you can choose your meat and sides, price was terrific between 7-9 pounds depending on the day of the week you are there. My husband's plate was overflowing as the owner/cook/carver really gave my husband more than 1 serving. We also told him that we wanted to learn more about Scotch and he brought over a flight of 4 scotches to try, explained them all to us and we indulged! I personally prefer to go to places that have a more personal touch to them and this place is just that. This place is centrally located (we were staying at the Mercure hotel, 2 blocks away) so check them out please. If I'm ever back in Inverness, I would definitely without a doubt go back again. Would recommend the dirty mac and cheese - macaroni cheese with haggis and bacon - it was delicious! Husband and father in law had the carvery which looked good too! Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly!

Was there for a friend's bday and the food was the best I have had this year and staff where excellent and very accommodating for such a large group,about time a carvery styled restaurant has hit Inverness!

Recently had a meal at the Ashes. A new chef who runs a daily carvery which proved to be excellent. Highly recommended to anybody looking for a lunch or evening meal. Also, this area of the town needs a restaurant like this to attract customers. Fine ales etc available in the adjoining bar.

Visited this new restaurant for lunch and I was very impressed. Carvery served daily for £7 Mon - Friday and £9 at weekend. Really good value. They also do some really tasty pies. Eg: haggis/cheese, and then you help yourself to a good selection of vegetables from carvery.
