A delightful spot in Edinburgh offering carefully crafted artisan pasta. The dishes are fresh and full of flavour. Service is friendly and attentive, and the small, quiet setting gives the meal a relaxed, personal feel. A worthwhile visit for anyone who enjoys authentic Italian cooking.

WARNING!. Outdated menu prices, overpriced and underwhelming!. Expect to pay £35 pp for a small amount of food excluding alcoholic!. Beware of fake reviews! Ive been here twice for a takeaway and it was pretty good, albeit with above average prices and decent enough food. However I dined in and apart from the atmosphere, I was disappointed with everything else. First of all,the menu on their website is not up to date so add at least 2 to 3 pounds on top of the prices on there. So therefore expect to pay close to 17 pounds for a tiny main course that is half the size of a takeaway sized portion, which consists of like 6 pieces of meat!. You still need to get rice, that will cost you 5 quid, starters are at typically 8 quid(avoid the samosas at all cost as they they are tiny). nan bread is close to a fiver, poppadoms will cost you 2 to 3 pounds. The rice is a tiny portion, less than a ready meal.the chilli garlic lamb i had was half the portion size of a standard sized takeaway tray.the chicken pakora was ok but nothing to write home about about. All in all, thats like 35 to 40 quid per head for a very average meal.i wouldn't bother dining in again for sure as that's very poor value for money,in fact it's safe to call this an expensive waste of money. id rather buy an Indian ready meal of virtually the same quality, for less than a tenner than to dine here again. This place must be making huge profits by serving tiny portions at ridiculous prices or paying their staff next to nothing. Only come here if you want to waste money and feel ripped off!. Complete waste of time and money, places like these should be shut down.

Passing by one day and being married to a Frenchwoman, it pays to spot things like this. I booked online and was called moments later, apologising for the lack of a high chair for our wee laddie. No bother I cried as I was already salivating at the menu. Lewis, Esteban and the hidden Scott and Jennifer (chef and owner respectively) were awesome. Lewis was engaging but not in your face. Proudly explained the Kombucha ingredients (she had the sea buckthorn and orange whilst I went for Onion and Squash) were foraged. Everything is understated quality. The tables look roughhouse but are lived in and have a well worn sheen. The cutlery was brought to you on linen and per diner, not a jingle jangle of steelworks. We had the Brunch du Marche and Brunch Satine to share. The pastries were lush. Just enough hint of hazelnut to the chocolate filling and the creme pat wasn't too sweet, not too plain. The house baked bread was dense and flavoursome and the butter made on sight. The eggs were perfect, and seasoned to perfection and the mountain of boudoin noir (black pudd to you Scots) was super, alongside the french tatties. The salmon just oozed quality, the cheese and charcuterie were served at the right temperature and even my coffee cup had a feel to it; properly chosen by someone who cares. Our son slept peacefully for 85 minutes which was plenty to enjoy a wonderful meal in delightful surrounds. A coupe had gorgeous looking brioche rolls on a neighbouring table, and 4 chaps had the brunch and a family brought daughter and boy to another and all left happy. We will be back. Vive Satine, vive la France.

While searching for a restaurant for our stay in Edinburgh, we made a reservation from Germany via Google Maps. We were even able to arrive an hour earlier than planned and were thoroughly impressed. Great service, very friendly and accommodating, delicious, flavorful food, and great value for money. Thank you for having us as your guests.

Bell's Diner opened in St. Stephen Street, Stockbridge, Edinburgh in 1974, the same year my wife and I moved into Stockbridge. They served the best burgers I've ever tasted. And no sweetish American-style buns and slobbery 'mayo'. The wine list starts at £21 a bottle. We now live 20 miles away but travelled in to have our final Bell's meal last week as the restaurant will soon be closing down. So, probably too late now for folks to get a table. Sad news indeed.
