Kims Bulgogi in Edinburgh, City of

This is a great casual Korean. The food was utterly delicious and the service was really friendly. My niece had never eaten Korean before and loved it. We have had Korean and enjoyed it immensely. Really great for a quick dinner.

We stopped in for dinner after a visit to the Golden Hare Bookstore down the street. My boyfriend is Korean and he loves trying different Korean restaurants when we're traveling. This one was a hit! If I lived in the area, I could see myself ordering from here often. We had the Fire Chicken Bulgogi with Rice, the Chili Chicken with Noodles (Japchae), and an order of the Veggie Dumplings. We both agreed that the Chili Chicken with Noodles (it's fried chicken) was our favorite!

My partner and I ordered here last year (2021) and both our chicken bulgogi’s lacked any taste at all (literally nothing), it was so strange. However, my partner had ordered from Kim’s countless times during lockdown and raved about it so we gave it another try and thought they were just having an off day. We then went back in sept 2022 and both couldn’t taste anything from the spicy chicken & the chicken bulgogi. Really sad because the chicken was super crispy and the rice was fluffy & cooked perfectly but unfortunately lacked any seasoning.

Brilliant choice of the best of Korean food. Homemade kimchi - delicious. Vegetable dumplings were sumptuous. The Bul Gigi dishes were excellent. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Food was a 10/10 and awesome portion sizes for the price. I was ordering online with my friend who really doesn't like spicy food, the restaurant called me several times to try and get me and explain (in the end they left a voicemail and left a little handwritten note inside the bag) explaining that the tofu is made in an already spicy mix but they had done their best to combat, and if it was too much then we should remove the tofu. Just great thought put into it and we had a fantastic experience. Will definitely eat here again and was left with a really great feeling about the place. Places like this deserve your business, really nice people and nice service. We had Vegetable-only bibimbap and a spicy chicken bulgogi with glass noodles. Both were fantastic.

The first impression of this place was that it was immaculate. The owner was really kind, the bulgogi was moist, chicken was crispy and well seasoned. The portion was generous and being Korean myself, it is genuinely authentic and well seasoned. Would definitely go back again!

Great little Korean restaurant with a short but tasty menu. Lovely dumplings to start and then a selection of their mains. The best was their fire chicken bibimbap. The glass noodles were lovely but needed more! Staff really friendly and welcoming and looked after our twins well! They even sent them away with a small snack! We’ll be back to explore more of the menu as I would like to try the kimchi pancakes. Thanks for a great meal!

I order kimchi pancakes, extra crispy, to take away on a weekly basis. They're lovely: always hot and fresh and crispy as ordered. If they say it will be ready in 15 minutes, it will be.

Lovely wee Korean cafe in Stockbridge. Great selection & value. Home made kimchi only £1 & miso soup £1.50. The bulgogi beef, dumplings & chicken bibimbap were all delicious. Excellent all round.

Fancied something different for lunch and went on a Google hunt...Kims Bulgogi came up and off we went. Small menu, which is ideal as it makes it easier to pick some items. We ordered the dumplings, Korean chicken with glass noodles and spicy chicken with rice. The Korean chicken was amazing, though we'd have preferred that with the rice (we'll know for next time). Can't wait to pop back and try some more from their menu.

We very much enjoyed the right taste. Not too spicy and quick service. As a Korean, I was very happy to enjoy my meal after a rainy day

Small, friendly place with great food. Have eaten in twice (my teenage daughter loves the place) but have had take-away a few times.

We had a selection of takeaway noodle dishes for lunch and everyone was delighted by the quality and overall taste. Very friendly young lady efficiently dealt with our order and the food was very good value for money. Highly recommend.

Découvert dans les highlights de deliveroo, mon copain et moi décidons de nous y rendre pour goûter une toute première fois à la cuisine coréenne. Arrivés devant, ce petit restau n’a l’air de rien. (Ce n’est pas vraiment un endroit pour manger à l’intérieur, il doit y avoir 10 couverts max. Le take away doit être leur point fort vu le nombre de livreurs qu’on a vu défiler pendant nos 10 minutes d’attente) On décide donc de prendre à emporter pour manger tranquille à la maison. Le jeune serveur à la caisse était super aimable, il nous a conseillé les « must » à tester. Le chef cuisinier est venu lui même nous donner des conseils pour bien savourer nos plats vu que c’était notre première fois. Chemin du retour très difficile tellement notre sac sentait bon... et une fois à table: un régal!! On recommande à 100%! Donc si vous avez peur de tester de nouvelles saveurs, sachez qu’à la première bouchée vos inquiétudes disparaissent. C’est juste DÉLICIEUX! A deux on a pris deux sides et deux « bulgogi » c’était copieux! A savoir: La cuisine coréenne est certainement un peu grasse mais de temps en temps ça fait du bien! En bref: foncez!

A tiny place on the edge of the city centre but well worth a visit. The service was amazing and quick. We had some of the best wings of our lives as a starter and enjoyed a beef bulgogi and bibimbap.

The kimchi was perfectly balanced with a crunch. The Dakganjung was crispy and the sauce delicious, and the portion was big enough for two to share. For mains we had the fire chicken and spicy pork bulgogi bimimbaps, which were delicious. All for less than £25 - excellent value for money. Highly recommend. Just be aware they don't have a bathroom, so you may want to grab a drink from the pub opposite and use theirs beforehand!

For a quick meal this is the perfect spot. The meat tastes excelent and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. Enough reason for us to come back a second time.

Their kimchi pancake and miso soup are both exceptional. I wasn't impressed with their veggie noodles, but the veggie rice bowl was very good (much too much rice, though). Friendly, slightly scatty service.

If you want to try real Korean foods in Edinburgh, I recommend Kim’s bulgogi! It has better taste dishes than Korean food in Korea. I’m traveling in Europe for 3months but I’ve never found a restaurant like this in my journey.I recommend ‘fire chicken bulgogi’ if you can eat spicy foods.에딘버러에서 한국음식을 드시고싶다면 킴스 불고기 추천합니다. 한국에서 먹는 한식보다 맛있었어요. 유럽을 3개월째 여행하고있는데 여기만한 곳을 못봤네요. 매운 음식이 먹고싶으시면 불닭덮밥 추천합니다. 맵게 해달라고 주문하시는거 잊지 마세요~ 조미료 안넣고 이런 맛 어떻게 내시는지 신기하네요!

I’m super happy to have discovered Kim’s Bulgogi. Superbly flavoursome food. The fiery chicken noodles are really hot but in a good way, in that you want to keep on eating and experiencing the flavour. The chicken wings and dumplings starters are also really tasty.

Excellent food. My second visit. There isn't any atmosphere as it's a takeaway with 4 tables but food is lovely. Chicken wings were lovely and the bulgogi is good. Id pop in for a quick bite to eat

I am so impressed with my order from Kim's Bulgogi. I am Korean and the taste and authenticity of Kim's food is similar to what I can get in a restaurant in Seoul. My partner and I ordered the chicken wings and the dumplings as a late-night snack and they were incredibly delicious. The chicken wings especially were possibly the best I've ever had - so wonderfully crispy and the marinade was delicious and the perfect mixture of slightly salty and slightly sweet. My partner and I were so impressed we cannot wait to visit Kim's in person and order main dishes. Highly recommended!

I am Korean and sometimes I really miss Korean food since I move into this city. I tried several korean foods in other restaurants but... there were not like 'real korean food'. But here, the food is almost as same as those I used to taste in South Korea. I was surprised by the truth that they make Kimchi by themselves and they don't use any artificial ingredients to boost the taste. If you like spicy one, i highly recommend Spicy Chicken Bulgogi and Fire chicken bibimbap which are pretty spicy but not stimulate your tongue badly. I am so glad to know this restaurant. And the service was really good. The staff was very kind and friendly.

Having never eaten Korean food before, my friends eat here regularly & were ordering a takeaway last night. I had the spicy pork bulgogi & rice. The food was fresh & tasty, I'll definitely be back as a favourite pub is only a short distance away.

Stopped here for a quick lunch and so glad we tried here. Only a few tables but pleasant enough for a sit in/ takeway place. Food was really good and great value, especially compared with other restaurants in the area. As good Korean as I have had elsewhere (to be honest better) and place has a family run feel. Recommend the dumplings... Much better than the gyoza other places do. And as said the low bill makes a welcome change from eating out in other restaurants. If your in the area, like Korean food and are t thinking of getting something to eat then look no where else.

Small place and more like a takeaway than an actual restaurant but the food was fantastic. Small menu. Highly recommend the chicken wings and bimbibap. Cheap prices highly recommended

If you're after Korean food, you're gonna love this small place near the Stockbridge market, it's reasonably priced, few tables, simple place that delivers great tasty Korean food! Especially if you like "Korean beef" style. Try the classic bulgogi with the beef, it's a must-try!

I have visited several times. The food really makes me happy with good taste. The owner is very nice as well. Appropriate price and good service. I recommend chilli chicken, bulgogi and bibimbap. Don't hesitate. Just go and experience.

I really like spicy food. So I chose fire chicken bulgogi. It was really spicy but it was not problem at all because of its sweetness! My husband doesn’t like spicy food so he had teriyaki noodle. He really really loved it!

Just ordered a chicken bulgogi and some dumplings via deliveroo, it arrived and its literally just some dry chicken thighs and white rice. It’s supposed to come with veg and there wasn’t a spot of green in the box. The dumplings were also greasy and over cooked. I gave up eating midway through because it was just gross quite frankly. Total rip off. I’ll never order from Kim’s again and wouldn’t recommend anyone else does either. Awful.

The food is delicious with great service. We found this place accidentally, but we are glad that we went in to try this place. Will come back for sure

I had beef bulgogi bibimbap takeaway, it was really nice and chilli chicken was also really good. Great taste, excellent service, love this restaurant !

The chicken wings are to die for, and the spicy pork bibimbap was really good too. Very quick and reasonably priced with exceptionally friendly service!

I love the simplicity of Kim's Bulgogi. In a wee nook in St. Stephen's Street, you could walk right by - but you'll be glad if you stop in. It's Korean street food and warm hospitality that will put a smile on your face. For a quick bite you can't beat it. The dumplings are amazing!

Very limited menu, but very nice. Authentic Korean food. Not a huge amount for vegetarians, but what they have is nice and fresh, and made up individually for each customer. If you like your food spicy tell them you want it very, very, very spicy, because it can be a bit bland otherwise. They make their own good kimchi. Very limited seating, but great for takeaway.

I fell in love with their glass noodle bibimbap when I first had for quick dinner. Thinking it was more of a take away, I don't expect that to be really suit my taste and it did so much out of expectations!I ended return for lunch the next day before leaving for airport and I must say I still miss their food!

I came here for lunch on a weekend trip to edinburgh, the brightly coloured shop really stands out in the street and the food is just as amazing. I had the noodles, spicy crispy chicken, chicken bulgogi and the spicy and soy fried chicken wings...a feast I know ^^ the noodles and crispy fried chicken was so good i'm still craving it Service was fast and friendly and prices were very affordable, will definitely be visiting again on my next trip!!

I am a student of the University of Edinburgh who had been craving to find a good Korean restaurant, and I managed to find one. This restaurant is close to Princess Street and has a great value for money. Top rates.

I was wandering past and spotted it, so tried it. Boy am I glad I did !This will become a once a week treat for me at lunchtime I think...I had takeaway noodle with soicy chicken which was excellent. Moist, spicy and super yummy ! Not the cheapest for a takeaway lunch but certainly tasty, tasty, tasty.

Food was delicious. Only a couple of tables inside but comfortable enough. Lovely staff and great food.

You will never be disappointed with this one. I have bee there many times. It is just as simple as that.

First time at Kim’s Bulgogi and it certainly won’t be the last.Due to a late change of plans we decide to have a take-away – finally decided on soy/sweet chilli wings, Kimchi, Chicken Teriyaki Noodles and Spicy Pork and Rice. Service was great, food cooked to order and our whole party thoroughly enjoyed the food. Very authentic food and highly recommended.

This place is really quite close to my house so the danger is that I will come too often because the food and staff are equally excellent and lovely. There are not many Korean places in Edinburgh but this place would definitely be my favourite as I do not feel guilty afterwards and I feel like I have had a light and healthy but delicious meal! Would definitely recommend to anybody who wants to try some authentic Korean food as this place not only offers a healthy belly filling meal but one at a reasonable price.

Really tasty authentic food. I have been here a couple of times and both times the food was brilliant. The dumpling starters were great and I had the Chilli Chicken Noodles which are delicious.It's a small restaurant which makes it nice and cosy and feels relaxed and informal. People come in and get food to takeaway which makes me wish I lived closer so I could eat their food more often!

Has a not-too-wide variety of dishes - makes choosing easy, and the pricing is suitable even for students! Definitely recommend the fried chicken. Extra points for great service!

We have been to Kim's Bulgogi many times in the past year. On every occasion the food has been excellent, the service warm and friendly. The menu is short, but we've tried most dishes and they are all superb, authentic and very good value for money. Our most recommended Korean experience in Edinburgh!

A take away restaurant with a few tables, we booked because I didn't know that. Then I phoned up to check if they served drinks and they said just bring your own. I was expecting a restaurant.... But it was amazing the food is delicious, we picked three dishes one from each section except for the sides. We had the Beef Bulbogi which was a little bland for my palate, and we were indecisive about the noodles so the waitress said she'd get the kitchen to do a half portion of the Spicy Pork Bulogi noodles with spicy chicken which was gorgeous the noodles are amazing so different from normal chow mein noodles. Same thickness but Glass noodles I believe really pretty! And finally the Bibimbap, she suggested the Fire chicken which was amazing....shredded carrots, beansprouts, fried onions, rice, fire chicken and a fried egg on top which you pour the chilli sauce on and mix it up with your chopsticks! Was so good! I would definitely go again or have a take away and when they do delivery do that too!

Amazing & Authentic Korean restaurant. Friendly customer service, the food is so tasty, and also great value for money. I would have recommend the beef bulgogi from the menu, it's delicious!

Only know Korean food from our trips to New York so can't really comment expertly about the cooking but we both enjoyed our food well enough to plan a return on this trip to Edinburgh. Friendly service and good value.

We have visited Kims on several occasions over the past 6 months or so and have never been let down. We have been as a couple and upto a group of 8, every time we have all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. After trying nearly everything on the menu I find the food consistently excellent, we have introduced several friends to Kims and everyone has loved it. The owner/chef is such a humble happy man who genuinely enjoys people enjoying his food, the serving staff are ace too . Thank you Kims we will be back.

My first visit was extremely promising. My husband and I were the only people there and our food came out super hot and delicious. The beef bulgogi came with the slippery noodles and onions and bean sprout salad. The beef was really soft and not chewy or fatty. So I was really looking forward to my next visit but it was awful. The food was cold to start with, and the beef was unrecognizable from the time before. It was mostly bumpy horrible fat or gristle, not sure as I was not about to eat it. There was also coleslaw on the plate instead of the bean sprout salad, and there were no noodles or onion, just carrots. It was quite busy at the time so perhaps this is one reason the food was awful. I am really sad that I won't be able to eat here again I can't deal with places this inconsistent. The people that work here are super nice. My review would have been 1 star based on the inconsistency of the food.

Kim's bulgogi is an excellent little place to go for Korean food. Reasonable prices, very nice people and good service. They also do take-away. Seriously worth a visit! I've been there several times, and can't get enough.

We have visited this little place a few times since it first opened at the end of last year. It was recommended to us by friends. The food is delicious, very reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I really hope this place is a success, and I would highly recommend to anybody who enjoys good quality authentic cuisine.

One of the best place to enjoy korean food in Edinburgh! Definitely recommendable to everyone, Absolutely amazing food quality, friendly and kind workers! You will never be disappointed with having a meal here. Prices of the foods compared to its quality is just fantastic. Recommended food is Bibimbap.

Entramos porque estaba frente al pub donde estábamos bebiendo, era un local de comida koreana para llevar , fue todo un acierto, riquísimo y sabroso todo, nos dieron muestras a probar gratuitas de otros platos, muy amable y servicial el dependiente. Al día siguiente volvimos pero estaba cerrado ( domingo de noche) repetiríamos sin dudarlo.

We tried the sweet chilli chicken which tasted amazing. The portion size is very good I ordered the large and it definitely filled me up. We also chose the chicken teriyaki with noodles. This was also very tasty! Much nicer than Chinese takeaways as it wasn't slimey or oily. I would recommend to try this place. The guy who served us was so lovely and let us try before we picked. We will be back soon!

Have eaten here several times now And everything the food has been so tasty and amazing. Have been given samples to try and the staff are very friendly. Well worth a visit.
