Food is decent. Ambience is awesome. Staff is friendly. But I found it to be expensive.

Fantastic place staffs were excellent and the food was served very hot 10/10

The food was as you'd hope, service amazing, and a busy night considering it was 5.30pm. We were supposed to staying at the Holiday Inn, and with this restaurant only across the road I was hoping we'd be eating their at least 2 times a week, sadly we haven't. But I hope we get the chance to go again soon..

This restaurant came recommended but every time we come to Edinburgh it is closed. We eventually went tonight and we will definitely be back. I can’t find a decent GF Chinese restaurant or take out back home in Newcastle but this place was delicious. I have no pictures of the food as I ate it all too quickly. The staff were lovely and the service was very good. Thank you! 😍

El pato medio aromático nos sirvió a los 7. El servicio fue genial. Un comensal con salsa de pato y ciruela sintió que necesitaba más salsa. En general, una muy buena cena. La cocina y el personal eran excelentes.

Cool jade opposite Edinburgh zoo The restaurant is spotlessly clean the food is amazing, first class service , we’d been in the city for 3 days and this was by far the best meal we had in Edinburgh, highly recommended. And very fairly priced . 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

My husband and I ate at Cool Jade in July 2024. The food was excellent and the owner's son was so welcoming and explanatory. Here it is February 2025 and my husband is still talking about the wonderful Egg Drop Soup. We both thought the Lamb dish we had. We both enjoy Chinese food . This was "10"!

Cool Jade is a cool British take on Chinese cuisine, and the delivery is perfect. They have only a few gluten-free options, and this is not the place for pure traditional authenticity, but all dishes we ordered were truly delicious and of great quality.

Enjoyed a delicious meal here. Good menu choice with plenty of different options to choose from. Service was prompt with friendly and welcoming staff. Food was served piping hot and the portion sizes were very generous. Nice decor and very comfortable environment. Would definitely visit again next time I'm in Edinburgh.

We went to Cool Jade after a recommendation from a neighbour and were thoroughly impressed! The restaurant has a great, relaxed atmosphere, and the staff were perfect- friendly, welcoming and very helpful, without being overbearing at all. Most importantly, the food was fantastic. Our table of eight ordered the banquet, with mixed appetisers followed by eight main dishes to share. They were all delicious. I was really impressed by how well balanced the flavours were in every dish, the chefs here obviously really know what they're doing. The lemon chicken was so fresh and zesty, and I loved the lamb with ginger and spring onion, and the duck in plum sauce We'll definitely be back!

We came here because our usual haunt was closed and it was excellent! Lemon Chicken: Banged. Ginger Beef: Exquisite. Crispy Chilli Chicken: Bob on. Even the plain noodles to go with were delicious and smoky. The staff were super efficient and really friendly At £32 a go for three courses and coffee you can't go wrong. The best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to.

The best Chinese we have ever had! The staff were lovely and all of the food was so delicious we couldn’t gilt it. Even the kids loved it!

Visited cool Jade tonight based on it being nearby to where we were staying and previous reviews. What a great find!! The restaurant itself is lovely, lively and full of people having a great night! Staff were amazing each one so friendly and helpful and all working so hard and so busy! Menu was great, lots to choose from. We picked a banquet for 4. Food was delicious, fresh, hot and generous portions. We were able to eat at our pace and at no time rushed along. Was a brilliant evening and we will definitely be back on our next visit to Edinburgh. You must try it! Thank you to all the staff who made our night!

All of the staff had immediate knowledge of what was included in each dish, and the dietary requirements they were suitable for. They were very polite! Nothing was too much trouble

Wow this is the most beautiful Chinese. The food is beautiful, well presented, fresh & flavoursome. The service was professional and very knowledgeable, as one if our party was Vegan. They adapted dishes that weren’t on the menu to Vegan for us. Portion sizes meant we came back with a takeaway too! The house wine was a good quality and the selection of other drinks was excellent. We will be back❤️

I visited Edinburgh over the weekend in October and Cool Jade was my first stop. It’s so hard finding good Gluten Free takeaways, especially a Chinese. This was so tasty! And the staff here were very friendly and helpful. I haven’t had sweet & sour Cantonese style in almost 10 years so I was over the moon. Highly recommend this Chinese. I can’t wait to return this year. See you again soon!

Food quality is good but suggest you order less first as the portion are quite large and some are large enough for sharing. You can always order more if its not enough.

We are trying to find a decent Cantonese restaurant in Edinburgh. For many year we were loyal customers of the Loon Fung in Edinburgh, until it was acquired and standard of food declined exponentially! So based on reviews we ordered a take out from Cool Jade, which was disappointing! The Lemon Chicken came with a separate sweet and strange tasting lemon sauce, which we all didn’t like. The Satay Chicken looked strange and tasted like it came straight out a bottle. The sauce was quite runny and tasteless. Shiu-Mai was dry and completely unappetising! The service as however friendly and fast. We won’t be visiting this restaurant.

A tip from a local on the bus led us here... and what a surprise! Despite not having a reservation, we were warmly welcomed and immediately seated at a table. Fast, friendly and really great service - and the food was so incredibly tasty that we immediately made a reservation for the weekend.

Great food and choice, however what is NOT shown in your final bill is the service charge. We left a generous tip but the bill did not show the service charge on it, only when the bank statement arrived did we see the additional cost! We don’t mind this charge but not when it’s not showing at the time of payment and you find out on your bank statement 🤬

What a wonderful restaurant. Decor lovely, cleanliness great, service on the ball, staff extremely friendly. Was a random visit and boy were we so pleased. They fit us in last minute 2 adults and 2 children, we discussed a number of food options they provided suggestions and the service was so speedy we couldn't believe it. Food was fresh and hot and tasty. The family are so warming and nice, attentive and friendly, including the children too. They were extremely busy as not just restaurant orders but takeaway orders were also being collected. My only gripe was they are so quick to remove your plates and clean the table and I guess this is due to how busy they are felt the lady was a little abrupt but hey they food made up for it!! lol! Will certainly be visiting here again!! Edinburgh chinese gem 😊

This Gem of Restaurant is very conveniently opposite the holiday inn. I am a real fan of Asian Cuisine and cook a lot of dishes in my own kitchen. So whenever I visit an unfamiliar restaurant I am always cautious about the food quality - will it match up to my own standards? In Short, the answer for this restaurant was, yes,yes,yes… Well worth a visit, do note they’re closed on Monday and Tuesday

This is something of a hidden gem, it’s perfect if you’ve spent a day at the Zoo , or are staying close by. Staff are always very friendly, whilst it’s strongly advised to book in advance , the staff are very courteous and do try and fit you in if it’s possible. Food is good quality and good value, I do like that they have the Chinese “Tsingtao” beer which is fairly hard to get in the UK these days. I’ve been to many Chinese restaurants in my time and while this one may be a little more modest compared to some of the ones I’ve been too, I’d say this is the best one in terms of quality & staff friendliness, hope to visit again soon.

We had eight guys on a golf trip done here early on in our trip and the food and service was so good, we decided to come back a few nights later. While we had some other good meals on our trip, to a man, everyone in our group ranked our two favourite meals as the ones we ate here. The service equaled the incredible food. Should never find myself back in the city, I’ll be back.

Simply great! We had checked into the hotel opposite and spontaneously wanted to eat at Cool Jade. Unfortunately there were no more tables available at 6:45 p.m. However, we were given the option to simply come back a little later, which we took advantage of. The service was sensational. Everything went very quickly. Everyone knew exactly what to do and we had food on the table just a few minutes later. The food was really very tasty. Maybe the best Asian food we've had so far. Even though it was quick, it has nothing to do with fast food. It wasn't as greasy as I'm used to and the portions were really generous. The restaurant itself is relatively small and therefore seems a bit hectic. At the same time, the decoration is very tasteful. We can absolutely recommend Cool Jade and would love to eat there again tomorrow. Update: We were there again today.

Really tired on our first night in Edinburgh so crossed the road for a Chinese takeaway - however totally blown away with the food so decided to immediately book the restaurant on our 3rd and final night. We were not dissapinted, we walked in and they remembered who we were. The staff were friendly with the owner personally coming out to talk to everyone was a nice touch. The food was exceptional starters of prawn toast and salt and chilli ribs were fantastic followed by mango duck, orange chicken and beef curry all extremely tasteful - better than china town in San Francisco which we never thought would be beaten. Must return to Edinburgh just for this restaurant. Highly recommend.

Such an amazing find! The best Chinese food I've had in Edinburgh. The meat is so tender, the staff and atmosphere are absolutely outstanding. Would definitely recommend. My friends and I loved it so much, we were the last to leave.

Staying at the Holiday Inn, it is well worth the walk over to cool jade for some delicious food. The serving sizes are quite substantial, so sharing is definitely an option. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing.

We hadn't booked a table but the owner's son quickly found room for us. The service was above and beyond. The servers were so attentive to our dietary requirements. The food was honestly the best chinese cusine we have ever eaten. Could not recommend Cool Jade enough. We will be back.

The food was amazing, one of the best Chinese restaurants I ever been to. All dishes were delicious and the staff very nice.

We ate here for dinner on a Saturday night. We were staying at the Holiday Inn in front and wanted a quick meal. The service was incredibly quick and very attentive. I wanted a spicier dish, so they customized my dish to my preference. Every dish we ordered was amazing, but the Tzechiu dish was a must-try! The flavor is amazing and nothing like I’ve ever eaten. I would come back to Edinburgh just to eat this dish again! Amazing restaurant with amazing service.

The boss and staff are very nice. The person who served us is a second-generation Hong Konger who works and lives here. The environment is warm and the most memorable thing for me is the Cantonese food. I stayed here for a total of two nights. The whole family was willing to eat here for two consecutive meals. If I didn't leave tomorrow, I would also be willing to have a third meal.

The place is really nice looking in the inside, very fast service we ordered our food and in like 5 mins they were already bringing our food out! it’s a nice atmosphere also. It was for 2 people and it cost about 30 pounds.

Good food with kind attentive service. Perfect for quick easy meals when tired from our holiday touring. Tofu dishes for vegetarian or vegans. Other meals you can swap for tofu if you ask.

What a surprise this restaurant is, so discreet on the outside, and which does not allow you to imagine what is hidden inside! The room is cozy and nicely decorated. The atmosphere is peaceful. The whole team is smiling and responsive. And above all, excellent cuisine, truly Chinese (and no pseudo-Asian inspiration for tourists...). Probably the best Chinese restaurant I have eaten in in the whole of the UK. Thank you again for this delicious moment!

Highly recommend. I will be returning! I was really impressed with either a young owner or manager, who went out of his way to get my food, hot and ready within less than 10 minutes. I thought he was joking at first when he told me he would have it ready that quickly! The food was incredible and, more specifically, the quality of the chicken is outstanding. Better quality than we see in USA.

First time here, my son is a regular customer and knows all the staff who are polite courteous, well presented. Restaurant is clean, with a warm atmosphere. Hope to go again next time am in Edinburgh.

Called in as staying local. Welcome was excellent seated in nice area, salt and chilli squid to start with mixed meat Szechuan to follow. A pint of draught beer to help. Portions were very good, prices fine and have booked for tomorrow night. I go home Friday. One of best experiences I have had.

Ordered a take away for the first time. Partners food seemed nice enough. But I requested honey chilli sauce on the shredded chicken. I find it strange the sauce come seperatly and if I looked closer at the menu it says 'with' and not 'in' the sauce. And to call it sauce, it was as thin as water and just ran off the chicken completely. Usually honey set in some way so I think it was sugar water or something else other than honey in this. Therefore the chicken just tasted plain. Shame they don't cook it in the sauce, although with as thin as this was I doubt it would have made any difference. Was looking forward to trying here as I've heard good things. I wasn't keen on the salt and pepper chips either. Very soggy.

The food was wonderful - really tasty! We had the sharing platter to start - gorgeous! Chicken satay and Singapore noodles for our main. Had loads of leftovers to take home. The wine was gorgeous and the service was excellent. Definitely recommend this place.
