Nok's Kitchen in Edinburgh, City of

What an absolutely awful experience. We took our daughter here for a 40th birthday lunch based on previous recommendations by friends and acquaintances. The food was poorly cooked and we suspect was microwaved due to the way it was placed on the plates. One meal was different - a beef dish- the meat was not tender at all and appeared to be “bleeding” blood. The cutlery is well used and looks “battered” as if past it’s useability. We complained about the two meals that were pork (though we suspect these were not pork but chicken ??) based noodle dishes and they changed them to the beef dishes but this was poorly cooked as well and remained uneaten. The experience was quite ghastly and we paid over £65 for something we feel was no better than a takeaway box from Tesco or Asda worth £12-15. We certainly would not recommend this place. We won’t Thankyou for a dreadful experience.

We were passing by like tourists yesterday Saturday at about 4.30pm & did not have a table booked, we asked if they could accommodate 5 people. They said yes but we have to be gone in one & half hours as the table was booked for 6pm. We ordered differant meals. Fantastic Thai food, I have been to Thailand many times & know how good Thai food is & was not disappointed @ Noks Kitchen. This was 5 Star food & at fairly reasonable prices, you won't be disappointed @ Nok's.

Great wee thai restaurant. Friendly staff and cosy atmosphere. I had the panang curry which was lovely. They also have singha on tap which is great. Only complaint would be the portions were on the small side. Staff were also very good with sorting my booking.

We had the lunch menu recently. The quality seems to have suffered since our last visit. The pad thai we were served was excessively sweet, and the choo chee curry was quite bland and not spicy enough.

Amazing service, super lovely and friendly servers and the food was absolutely perfect in every way. I will definitely be recommending this place to everyone and will definitely be back again.

Decent but I had really high expectations based on how booked up the restaurant usually is. Pineapple rice had overcooked unseasoned prawns on it. Seemed to me like it was rushed or not much care was given to the dishes. Also not a fan of seating arrangements in restaurants where they pack you table to table where you can listen to the couple's conversation beside you.

Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, food was best Thai food we have eaten. Highly recommended. Cannot fault. If I lived in Edinburgh I would visit again. Great find.

A very nice Thai lunch from the fixed menu. Draught Singha beer is good, I could half a half and husband could have a pint. Not a large restaurant, so best to book. We'll be back.

First time at Nok’s kitchen, amazing food, and brilliant service, took our 12 year old son for a special family occasion and he loved the sizzling stir fry, very good portion sizes. Definitely recommend the shared starter, and my partner was raving about his nutty curry, will definitely be back

We were here as 2 couples on a Saturday evening in November. Table at 5.30pm. Really nice venue - quite cozy so recommend booking. Lots of takeaways being collected so a good sign from the locals. We all shared the set menu - plenty of food for the 4 of use - one being a vegetarian. All dishes were excellent - very tasty and great portion sizes. The staff were all really friendly and we were made to feel welcomed.

It was my husband's birthday and I had made a reservation for 8:30pm a week before that and clearly mentioned in the notes that we will be bringing a 3 yr old along. It wasn't mentioned anywhere that they dont allow children after 5 30pm. I received an email to confirm my reservation 2 days ago but nothing was mentioned as such either. Just a few hours before his birthday reservation I received a call from the restaurant that they dont allow children around that time and the lastest slot they have is 5 30pm. It is ridiculous to inform us that late. Thanks for destroying our plans as no other place was available to book us in at such a short notice.

Indeed a really good Thai restaurant. I totally recommend the soft crab yellow curry and their dish signature, nutty curry. I have tried a lot of Thai restaurants’ curries, this one is the best in UK. Also, their pineapple fried rice is also a must to try, it has a good wok-hai. Their black sticky rice and fried banana is amazing. I am really looking forward on their mango sticky rice, as it is a seasonal dessert savoury. Just to beware of the parking, you may park at the single yellow line during the weekend. There’s a residential parking area that does not have a clear signage. The staff told us about it. The staff is really friendly, good service, will come again if I visit Edinburgh. P.s. I forgot to take the pictures

Incorrect order on multiple occasions, this used to be my favourite Thai restaurant but sadly the standards have slipped. Maybe a change of ownership?

Small, very busy restaurant with fantastic service, the food wasn’t quite what I was expecting, perhaps I ordered the wrong thing but I just didn’t find it that authentic. The tempura prawns were definitely more panko and the Thai curry sauce was very thick and clawing, I ordered with medium rare steak but unfortunately it arrived more rare and unrested resulting in the bloody juices leaking into the coconut cream sauce which just looked very unpleasant. On a positive the crab dumplings (I think that’s what they were) were really tasty and again the staff were all really friendly.

En el lado positivo, los entrantes (pollo satay, rollitos de primavera y cangrejo de belleza) estaban sabrosos y bien - preparado - - el cangrejo de belleza inusual y algo que recomendaría. El personal era atento pero no abrumador, y el entorno acogedor perfecto para una noche de tormenta. Pero la comida principal era abismal - - salsas tan pobres que casi podrían haber sido compradas - , un poco grasientas, y casi ninguna especia incluso en los platos supuestamente picantes. Dadas otras críticas me sorprendió y decepcionó. Quizás este fue el domingo que el chef se tomó la noche libre.

It was my first time eating here, the interior is nice, and homely and the lunch menu is good value, also the quality of food is decent. I will come back and try the a la carte menu next time.

Went there with my partner as it was my 63rd. Had lived in Stockbridge for a few years and noticed a few times but never been. Starters all ok. Main dish of duck curry and sticky rice was all just a bit sad. Almost as much fatty duck skin as there was duck, accompanied by the worst sticky rice I had ever been served. Had a hard skin on it and I had to resort to soaking it with the curry sauce and try to break it into pieces with the pointy end of 2 chop sticks…an experience never to be repeated…

Popped in here for lunch on a Saturday. The service was exceptional and the lunch menu was well priced and food incredibly tasty. The attention to detail of heating the plates and bowls to maintain the heat was exceptional. Generally very mild and they give you your own little pot of chile powder to sprinkle on, which suites everyone's taste.

Last night was my very first visit to Noks Kitchen, something I have put off for a wee while. Ordered Chicken Massaman Curry with egg fried rice as a takeaway. Once home, I decided to serve up a half portion to see if I liked i What a pleasure, aromatic and full of flavour throughout. My only complaint is … not enough of it. Tonight I am finishing off the second half and to be honest, I am really looking forward to it Excellent and highly recommended

My first visit to Nok’s Kitchen and…. I ordered Chicken Massaman Curry and egg fried rice as a takeaway. The rice was very fragrant and the curry, well, probably the best Thai I have ever had. No complaints whatsoever and definitely going back to sit in.

Our first visit to NOK’S Kitchen in Stockbridge will definitely not be our last. We arrived sharp at midday and were given a warm friendly welcome by Pom. Shown to our table we then ordered wine and decided what to order from the fixed price menu. We had Vegetable Spring Rolls, Prawn Tempura and Chicken Satay. This was then followed by a Beef Chilli Paste Stir-Fry and a Duck with Mango Chutney both served with Thai Jasmine Rice. Our food was all washed down with a nice bottle of “Peculiar Mr Pat” . Everything was just great in this busy little restaurant and we can’t wait to go back to try a different menu.

Lovely place, cozy, excellent vegetarian (vegan) Thai food. Loved the Pad Kra Pao with tofu and good spicy 🌶️. Chang beer on top. Perfect.

Really lovely meal. The satay chicken starter was fantastic and our daughter loved it. The massaman was amazing, green curry and Penang curry were very good. Staff were very friendly. Loved the fact they also did a chicken nuggets and chips kids meal - sounds strange in a Thai restaurant but our youngest really struggles in Thai restaurants so was nice that we could all enjoy our meal! It’s a small place and we had to book to get in (the night before we turned up at 6pm and everything was fully booked all night on a Thursday.

The food was really really good and decent portion sizes. The sticky mango rice was DIVINE. Great vegetarian options as well. My tofu stir fry was really good. The spice was punchy and perfect.

A great place! It’s my second time coming here and I’ll be back for sure. We ordered several states and mains for 4 people, all of them were great. My favourite Nok’s nutty chicken - so delicious!

I travelled Thailand last year with my partner and we have been obsessed with Thai food ever since. We have eaten at most of the Thai restaurants and takeaways in Edinburgh and we can both honestly say this is our all time favourite. The red Thai curry is absolutely beautiful 🤌🏼 . Lunch menu is great and such a good price. If you are visiting on holidays or at the weekend I would recommend to book a table as it fills up very quickly. If you can’t get a table at this location they also have another location in town (Johnston terrace) and they even offer take out. You won’t be disappointed with a visit here🥰

Honestly the best restaurant we've eaten at in Edinburgh. The location is superb, the staff was very friendly and effective and the food was absolutely delicious. Each of our plates was skillfully dressed and our dishes were flavourful and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend Nok's Kitchen.

Fantastic Thai food. We had starters and mains and it was all delicious. 10/10 would recommend. Can get busy from 6pm onwards, make sure to make a reservation in advance (especially for groups >2)

I have mixed feelings. We arrived and said hello. The waitresses didn't tell us much, so my boyfriend went to look around if there is some nice table for two. In our country (we are tourists) we are automatically seated, but in some restaurants you just go and sit wherever you want. The waitresses looked confused, so i asked if we need a reservation and instead of an answer, one of the waitresses told us in pretty bossy way, that we need to wait to be seated. Ok, i asked if they have a table for two, which they obviously had, the restaurant was almost empty, but i waited if the tone will change, because one more sentence in that bossy tone and im out of here. I don't need this attitude. Service was quite good, they fill your water without you asking for it, but it made me a little bit uncomfortable that our waitress kept walking around and looked at our table the whole time while we ate. Maybe its just me, i didn't appreciate it. On the other hand this place has the interior that is giving really nice vibes and it needs to be said, that the food was delicious, maybe thats why its high-priced. However I ordered a meal that was marked in the menu as NOT spicy and it was definitely spicy. I don't mind spicy food, but if someone hates it, it could be a problem. My boyfriend had the chicken pad thai and said it was really good, maybe too sweet for him.

I saw this when I was searching on maps for lunch and couldn't get a table. By pure fortune I walked past it by accident and asked if they had a table for 2. The kitchen was about to close but they found us a spot. It's lovely inside, quite petite but enough room between tables. The staff were great and very attentive all the way through. We ordered of the lunch menu which was very reasonable at £14 for 2 courses, shares some spring rolls and chicken satay. They were both great and came with a selection of dipping sauces We both opted for Pad Thai as a main, I was tempted by the jungle curry but wanted noodles. Really good pad Thai and I've been to Thailand many times. Had a couple of beers, all in under £40. Can't fault it, thanks for finding us a table . If you find this useful please hit like, I'm trying to be an expert reviewer 🤣

The place forces you to pay the service charge for a very mediocre service , when it's specifically said in the menu , that service charge is OPTIONAL. It's a worrying trend that came from America , where the restaurant adds 10% to your bill therefore forcing you to leave the tip, whether you liked the service or not. This is completely wrong , as any gratitude payments should be left at the discretion of the guest , not forced upon them . The food was good , I can't fault it , however due to the reasons above it's safe to say I won't be coming back .

The food was absolutely perfect; so is the service. Very nice place for dinner. However, I recommend making a reservation.

Rude, inconsiderate and untrustworthy. They play loud music after closing until late at night. I previously deleted this review one night after they made a deal to stop the music at midnight. However they immediately broke the deal and kept the music going for another one and a half hours. If this is how they treat neighbours after their restaurant is closed then perhaps they don't deserve your business.
