The best restaurants in City Centre Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh and Lothian

I thought I had booked online, but turns out I didn't, we were accommodated with no fuss. Fab fresh menu, reasonably priced and imaginatively presented. Great pre-theatre choice for us.

Buzzy place with tasty cocktails, but I was disappointed by the food. It wasn't as flavorsome as I would have expected for the price along with the usual small plates portion sizes. £45 pp with one drink.

The best bar in The New Town. Non corporate, non wanky, non conformist. The right side of wrong... just.

The cookies are delicious and the girl who served us gave us an extra cookie. 😊

Best hamburgers we have had in a long time! Absolutely delicious!

We had friends and family to the herringbone for food & drinks in September and it was brilliant. Iona was so accommodating and helpful, especially about dietary requirements. We chose the canapé menu and they kindly made adjustments for different dietary needs. The food was delicious and the team were lovely about making sure everyone knew what they could eat. We were concerned about the weather and using the outdoor space but it was perfect for the casual gathering, people could come and go as they needed, and we had to turn the heaters off it was so nice & toasty. I’d really recommend the restaurant, and the outdoor space in particular. The team are really lovely, we had a great time.

A lucky find. Very new, but great location, decoration and staff. Really beautiful small dishes that just keep coming. Quality sashimi and sushi, all the way through to grill, noodle and rice dishes. Didn't get to try the desserts as we were stuffed. Helpful, attentive and suggestive staff. A good drinks list of really interesting options. Love it! Thank you!

In company for a get together with some friends...oblivious behind the bar how loud the music was ,could hardly hear ourselves....won't be back.

Randomly found this spot in Google Maps and it didn’t disappoint! Everything we ordered was delish! Their Teriyaki Pork Rice Bowl, Tonkotsu Cha Shu Ramen, and their famous Hope Omuriso was yuuuuumyy! Asian craving was definitely satisfied. And the ambience of their place felt like we were in Japan.

Really disappointing. Had gone has had great reviews, but service was flat and not special. Restaurant was chilly, basic set up, paper nspkins, no candles for dinner. Cold bisque which I sent back but no further check all was good. Felt it was expensive and wouldn't return.

Abbiamo scoperto per caso questo piccolo locale in zona Haymarket. Ci siamo fermati per colazione e gustato due deliziosi cappuccini di soia e degli scones appena sfornati con burro e marmellata. Tutto buonissimo e le ragazze che ci hanno servito sono state estremamente gentili ed efficienti.Consigliatissimo!

I have been here on 2 seperate occasions and really liked the pasta. There is enough 'vegetarian ' options if you are prepared to accept parmesian (which I do...) I have had: - cacio e Pepe. Really good. - walnut pesto. Was OK - Arancini. Was OK - halloumi fries. Good. Really good value. Both times I came for dinner. Definately worth visiting for a pasta fix

Great late night cocktails complimented with D’lish “nibbles”’. Mmmhhh.
