I had an amazing experience at this breakfast spot! The food was absolutely delicious, and every bite was a treat. The staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and kind—truly attentive with a lot of patience. It’s clear they care about providing a great experience. I can see why this place is enjoyed by many but it was very expensive for what we got. The portion sizes were a little on the smaller side so I am not sure about the value for money considering we spent over £40. Eggs were delicious, veggie black pudding tasted bland. The highlight for us was the fantastic customer service and very attentive team.

We were looking for an early morning breakfast for our second day in Edinburgh and came across the Edinburgh Larder. I’d read reviews where someone had said that by 8:20am the place was packed so we made our way and arrived a couple of minutes before 8:00am and there were already 6 people before us. Such a good sign! We were seated really promptly and our orders were taken within minutes. The food came out quickly but not too quickly for you to question the freshness. I ordered the Hash with bacon and my fiancé ordered the Traditional Scottish. He said his breakfast was absolutely amazing and it was the first time he has enjoyed black pudding. The haggis was great and everything was cooked perfectly. My breakfast was phenomenal. The potatoes with the dill cream sauce was out of this world and just everything was a great experience. The coffee was wonderful too. The service was also delightful, attentive but not in your face and just a super chill, comfy vibe. We’re on our way back this morning for our final breakfast before we go but making sure we’re 10 minutes early to guarantee a seat!

We didn’t make a reservation but got seated fairly quick (queue for around 10-20 mins). Would definitely recommend a reservation beforehand. The atmosphere inside was really nice! Called to make a brunch reservation but was told they don’t take bookings over the phone, only online. Then told I couldn't make a reservation online as the time I was requesting was less than 90 minutes away. I was calling at 0945 for an 1100 table. The person I spoke to confirmed they had tables available at 11 but I couldn’t reserve them, I’d have to walk in and they couldn’t guarantee a table would still be available then. I explained I had a toddler so didn’t want to chance this option. Altogether a very unusual way to run a business, making it so difficult for the customer to make a booking. As a mum to a 1 year old, this is a level of complexity I don’t need for a simple brunch.

Feel bad giving this place a 3 star review but it was completely average so that what I'm giving it. I typed into my phone, best breakfast in edinburgh and this place came up so that I would go try it. Spoiler alert. It is not the BEST breakfast in Edinburgh. It is, however, the most EXPENSIVE In Edinburgh. At 17.50, it was ridiculously expensive. There is absolutely nothing to justify this price either. It was decent enough quality but nothing special. Only 1 sausage as well. I'm a fussy eater, and they wouldn't swap anything out. Which usually I don't mind but for the price I would expect they would be accommodating. The only people I would recommend this to are people who want to impress their hipster friends.

Went as part of a work-event at Christmas. The hall was stunning, big fireplaces and stunning chandeliers. The food was very very good and a fair portion. Service was prompt and polite and extra considerate for our colleague who can't have peanuts, reassuring him that they checked his meal each time. Food was served at a lovely temperature. I'd love to visit this place as a typical patron. Also, it's a treat to be so far up the Royal Mile as late as we were. Even though it was Christmas time, the street was fairly quiet and Edinburgh old-town looks lovely (ignoring the road works!)
