Came here with a friend and had the best time, had amazing service from Alex who was really knowledgeable about everything and gave us amazing recommendations! We had one of the sharing grande board and desserts would seriously recommend to try! Was amazing, and the wine was fantastic, was informed by Alex about which wines would be best for us. So good, will be back!

Alex was our server/sommelier and he was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. Food and wine were both delicious and the lunch special was such a good deal! Def recommend! Our bill came out to ~150 and that was with 2 bottles of wine and everyone getting their own pasta/pizza

Did not have reservations but they accommodated us and were helpful. Alex took great care of us, getting to know us, wine and food recommendations. Had the carbonara pasta and bottle of wine. Limoncello and sorbet for dessert, lovely! Great experience all the way around!

Excellent wine bar with large boards, pasta dishes and pizza that melts in your mouth. We paired our meal with a nice Merlot and finished our meal with a Tiramisu. Great experience!

Enjoyable meal, in a nice cosy atmosphere situated on Rose Street. The waiter Alex was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was reasonable priced and was of a good quality. Highly recommended if you want an Italian in that part of town.

We pre booked the wine tasting and food pairing experience as part of our trip to Edinburgh and fair to see it went above and beyond our expectations! We were met with Alex who was one of the most attentive servers I’ve ever met, he ran us through the whole experience, describing each wine and food and why they pair, checking in consistently whilst running the floor on his own. The food was amazing and the wine pairings were spot on! Everything was delicious and priced really well, we even had two cocktails after to finish the night off. Loved every minute and we told Alex that if we are ever back in Edinburgh, we will be back!!

Booked this restaurant at last minute, so glad we did because from the moment we walked in we were made to feel so welcome. The waiter, Alex , came over and told us of the origin of the place , he was very knowledgable and nothing was too much trouble for him. By the end of the meal we felt we had known him for years, he is definitely a cred to the restaurant The service was second to none and the food was excellent Would definitely recommend and will definitely return

Visited for quattro vini wine tasting, one of us had 4 reds the other 4 white wines. All wines were explained and accompanied by Italian food which complimented perfectly. The food was absolutely delicious as was the wine. The bread and oil was very good as were the cold meats and cheese. The host Alex was a great help and knows his stuff, we ended up staying for a pizza and a larger glasses of wine. 10/10 experience would highly recommend.

I booked an Italian wine tasting and pairing experience in Edinburgh for my boyfriend’s birthday, and while it had potential, the experience left a lot to be desired. The evening started out okay—it took quite a while to be served despite being the only ones in the small restaurant, but things eventually got moving. The wines and pairings themselves were lovely, so no complaints there. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was another story. When we first arrived, the restaurant was completely empty, but as more people trickled in, they kept seating everyone right next to us in this cramped corner, despite there being plenty of space elsewhere. To make matters worse, the table next to us spent the entire time loudly complaining about the service. Their pasta had been served cold, and despite repeatedly asking for it to be heated, the waiter never got around to it—despite the restaurant still being mostly empty. This went on for over an hour, which completely killed the vibe. After the wine tasting, we decided to order another glass each. However, just as we were finishing and ready to order another, the waiter came over and asked us to leave because they supposedly had another table booked in 10 minutes. Again, the restaurant was still practically empty, so this felt unnecessary and rushed. To top it all off, they added a 12.5% service charge, which didn’t feel justified since we barely saw the staff throughout the visit. All in all, while the wine and pairings were enjoyable, the odd atmosphere, inattentive service, and strange seating decisions made it hard to fully enjoy the experience.

This was an incredible dinner. The food was good, the balsamico was to die for, and their own wine selection was superb. All the waiters were very friendly and made us feel welcome. This is a must if you are in the area

Veeno is a quiet little wine bar and restaurant packed with character and class. We popped in for an early dinner and wanted to enjoy our time. Right away we were provided some amazing insight into the restaurant origins and offered advice on wine choices. We put our trust in the staff who made amazing choices based on my preference (they did not just flog the most expensive bottle). I was served as what was described a “glugable red” wine. Absolutely spot on. A lot of their own wines and choice. We had pizzas, hard to get wrong so we were very pleased. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and credit to the owner and staff who made it a great experience. If I lived in Edinburgh, I’d be a regular.

I visited Edinburgh for two days and this was the best meal I had there. It was absolutely delicious. I loved that it was a family run business. I requested a reservation an hour before hand on a Friday night. They responded quickly and told me that they could accommodate be but it would be a seat right next to the door and there may be some draft. I thought it was nice that they took the time to tell me this but it was no problem at all, the seats were perfectly fine. Lovely experience.

This restaurant run by a Sicilian family is one of the best Italian places I have ever eaten! The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, the food is delicious, the room is very pleasant and cozy. They offer their own wine, excellent, as well as their own olive oil. Go there with your eyes closed but remember to book.

The restaurant isn’t very big, so I would recommend to make a reservation in advance. I took the ravioli, my husband took the carbonara and we both tried the family white wine. Everything was perfect and the waiters were really nice and helpful.

I had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful Italian restaurant, where wine tasting was an unforgettable experience. A small restaurant on Rose St. which has a superb selection of wine - they serve from their own vineyard - and lovely food (great pasta and the pizza was really delicious). We had the Cutaja Nero d‘Avolo and it was a wonderful smooth vine. A heartily service and a good atmosphere make this restaurant one of the better ones I would say! Will come back.

I had been given a voucher for two,for the Sicily Wine Tasting experience ahead of a holiday to Sicily, this week, and I really didn't know what to expect from it. We ended up really enjoying our evening at the Rose Street Veeno, with Jano as our guide. Jano was very welcoming and really informative about all 6 wines we tasted and I liked that he shared his thoughts on each of the wines with us, as well as directing us to the items on the magnificently presented food platter to pair with each of the wines. The sweet wine that was served with a delicious Tiramasu at the end of our experience was a complete revelation! Thank you Jano and Veeno. We will return to sample more of your authentic Italian food and fine wines, and I shall now have a far better idea of what wines to order on our Sicilian holiday!

Had the classic Bolognese lasagna it was fabulous. Had a “large” glass of Malbec wine that was fabulous.

This is an absolutely perfect little hideaway for a relaxing dinner. The restaurant has an intimate vibe while still offering a casual atmosphere. Our server, Alex, was fantastic—he introduced himself and the menu with genuine enthusiasm. He took the time to walk us through every dish and shared some excellent recommendations. We went with the grande meat and cheese plate, and everything was spot on. Luke assisted as well, and he was equally impressive. We enjoyed a bottle of fruity wine along with a couple of glasses of prosecco. For food, we indulged in the lasagna alla bolognese, one of the mozzarella pizzas, the spaghetti alla carbonara, and the tagliatelle al ragu. For dessert, we treated ourselves to the cannoli and tiramisu. 10/5 stars—absolutely coming back!

Cute Italian restaurant with good food and good selection of wine. I tried their Syrah which was pretty nice. The staff were friendly and efficient. We had a relaxing time, ended spending an hour or so in the afternoon. Worth a shot if you’re in the neighborhood.

We redeemed a 'Trip to Sicily' voucher here and we're so happy we did! We were served by Jano, who did an excellent job of explaining the wine and food pairings. We were blown away by how good both the wine and food were, and were even more impressed by Jano's service. We were slightly nervous because we drink a lot of wine, but don't necessarily have a lot of wine tasting knowledge. Jano certainly put us at ease by adding his own personal anecdotes and making the whole experience approachable and relatable. Thank you Jano for making this day so special, it was so much more than we expected and we can't wait to come back next time we're in Edinburgh!

Overall, an enjoyable Friday evening with no hiccups.

A nice place with a good atmosphere. We were a family of four and loved the kids menu with good prices. The wine menu is good. I had the ravioli with nduja and pecorino and it was spicy but the sauce included did not bring anything more to the dish. The kids liked their pizzas. I really dislike 12,5% added service charge. Even if the service and food had been outstanding which none of them were, I would never give more than 10%. For a service charge this high, above other places I have visited in Edinburg, you really have to give something extraordinary.

Booked way in advance for 5 people for my birthday and was let down by the waiters and the food. Waiters serving with their fingers stuck inside the glasses. Waiters forgot our orders a couple of times, and when we pointed it out they laughed about it. My dessert was supposed to have strawberries and it didn't. When I asked the waitress she laughed and she asked if I wanted oranges instead, because they ran out of strawberries in the kitchen. They didn't have tomato sauce or other ingredients for some pizza either. A very disappointed first try. I won't be back.

Took a while to be served but staff were pleasant. Quite expensive but a nice experience.

We ordered lasagna and the dish was well presented but the lasagna had practically no filling, in addition to being thin. The tagliatelli al ragu are good but the portion is small. Well located but the price/quality ratio is very bad.

Reading the reviews the one dish I had (Spaghetti trapanese) was a somewhat let down (portion size and garlic/almond -wise), although i should have try the whole experience for sure to be proper objective. This place seems more of a wine place rather than a regular Italian.

Fantastic pasta and wine at this cute restaurant. We sat outside on a beautiful evening. Unfortunately the restaurant had run out of their pizza so the five of us ordered different pasta dishes. They were all excellent as was the wine which is from their own label. Highly recommend and we would go back again. The waiter was absolutely wonderful

We were so looking forward to our visit to VEENO and it didn’t disappoint. Our waiter JANO gave us a very impressive & knowledge experience in our Taste of Sicilian wines & food. And oh! the Tiramisu was just amazing coupled with a very nice dessert wine which wasn’t at all syrupy complimented the tiramisu a treat!! Thank you !

This restaurant has great Italian food, excellent and creative drinks, and Alex was very attentive and was a great conversationalist. We went there three times in two days. You will not be disappointed in Veeno!

Awesome food and really nice waiters! The prices were correct. I was not the biggest fan of the pizzas but the pizza, the sandwiches and the antipasti were to die for. We came with my young niece and we had a great time.

Love this hidden gem on Rose Street. A fantastic retreat after an afternoon shopping. They have a superb selection of wines by the glass. The staff are really friendly and helpful. My server Hoja was lovely. Highly recommend!

Had a lovely lunch with my mum at Veeno Edinburgh. It’s a small restaurant with a very knowledgeable and friendly waiter. The atmosphere was lovely. The food was even better, when I realised they had a proper Italian Carbonara I couldn’t resist. The wine was delicious and the service was brilliant. We both enjoyed our meals.

We celebrated a family 70th last Sunday. We selected the Quattro Rossi menu, which was incredible - the food and pairing with 4 delicious wines was such good value for money. The staff were so friendly and attentive - the chap that brought the wines was clearly knowledgable and was great at promoting the wines. My only suggestion is it would have been great for him to point out what wines went with the food selection although it does tell you on the menu card - perhaps just an extra touch. My wife and I had a phenomenal experience at Veeno; the best restaurant experience we had in our visit to Scotland during our honeymoon. Not only was the food, the chef and the wine outstanding, but our server, Alex F, was behind amazing. He was both extremely attentive and kind as well as timely and very considerate. He made our experience even better and we can’t thank him enough!

Excellent dinner starting with whole olive di Nocellara and then the most delicious sea bass and lime ravioli. Great service from Alex. Tasty Tasari Syrah Rose as well by the glass.

We had a very lovely evening with great authentic food and lovely Italien wine (try the „Nino“ grand cru). What was even better, was the host and „chef de service“! We highly recommend to drop by 😉

The waiter was very kind, but the food was really just not good. For one of our dishes we saw the kitchen staff just pour it directly from a jar into a bowl and serve it to us. And, despite the fact that there were only a couple other customers in there, we spent a lot of time waiting for service throughout our visit.
