The best restaurants in City Centre Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh and Lothian

Wow. Wow. I decided at 1pm to try to find a dinner restaurant for before a 7pm show, which was adventurous. I tried close to 35 restaurants and all were full. I randomly stumbled upon Taisteal on google maps and surprisingly they had space at 5pm. THANK GOD. I am grateful they did because not getting to experience this place just once would be a crime. Unbelievable food. Some of these tasting flavours I’ve had. You can tell so much thought and care has went into selecting the menu. The staff are amazing. The prices are phenomenal. I will absolutely be telling anyone who will listen about this place.

The best bar in The New Town. Non corporate, non wanky, non conformist. The right side of wrong... just.

FESTIVAL SCAM STAY AWAY STONED STAFF!!! WRONG ORDER! LONG WAIT! PRICING INCORRECT! SCAMSCAMSCAM

We came in at 5pm on a Friday in December, even though it was a fully booked night the staff managed to find us a table. There were multiple vegan options for starters and mains, and a lovely vegan trifle with vegan cream for dessert! The bang bang tofu was great and came on top of a fresh veg salad. The sweet potato pocket was gorgerous, the seasoning was delicious and the tahini sauce made the main a 10/10. The staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was great. The main came out a tiny bit cold but given it was a busy Friday evening I didn’t mind! Overall we had a lovely night, drinks were great, really nice to see somewhere with multiple unique vegan options per course.

A lucky find. Very new, but great location, decoration and staff. Really beautiful small dishes that just keep coming. Quality sashimi and sushi, all the way through to grill, noodle and rice dishes. Didn't get to try the desserts as we were stuffed. Helpful, attentive and suggestive staff. A good drinks list of really interesting options. Love it! Thank you!

In company for a get together with some friends...oblivious behind the bar how loud the music was ,could hardly hear ourselves....won't be back.

I visited this restaurant because I saw someone post a picture of the ramen. I am now telling you to also visit this restaurant because the ramen was amazing. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, and delicious food!

Really disappointing. Had gone has had great reviews, but service was flat and not special. Restaurant was chilly, basic set up, paper nspkins, no candles for dinner. Cold bisque which I sent back but no further check all was good. Felt it was expensive and wouldn't return.

Abbiamo scoperto per caso questo piccolo locale in zona Haymarket. Ci siamo fermati per colazione e gustato due deliziosi cappuccini di soia e degli scones appena sfornati con burro e marmellata. Tutto buonissimo e le ragazze che ci hanno servito sono state estremamente gentili ed efficienti.Consigliatissimo!

I have been here on 2 seperate occasions and really liked the pasta. There is enough 'vegetarian ' options if you are prepared to accept parmesian (which I do...) I have had: - cacio e Pepe. Really good. - walnut pesto. Was OK - Arancini. Was OK - halloumi fries. Good. Really good value. Both times I came for dinner. Definately worth visiting for a pasta fix

The Caley Bar is a nice upscale place to stop in for a cocktail or two while in Edinburgh. However, the service could have been better. When the server presented the check, my friend went to take it from her, and one of the drinks spilled over. No replacement or acknowledgment of any kind was offered. She just helped by bringing over napkins. At the price point paid for our drinks and the prestige of the hotel in which the bar resides within, I would expect a better response and certainly better placement of the check far away from the glasses on the table.

Best spot in Edinburgh for lectures, art, wine, food and chat. A membership club but events can be booked through Eventbrite.
