The best restaurants in East Lothian Edinburgh and Lothian

Booked on their website night before and turned up and were given a number of options as to where to sit. Mark was our waiter and he was friendly, professional, on it - never left us too long and was attentive and kind. Mark - you are a credit to the restaurant! Not many as good as you about. I had the grilled salmon chimmichurri (?) with broccoli, crispy kale and new potatoes . I actually said to my mum, “if I died tomorrow I would be happy with that as my last meal”. Random thing to say, but it was absolutely delicious! And my kind of meal all in. Had the dark chocolate and cherry triffle - oofffttt had to share it with my Dad, it was delicious but big. The portions sizes are generous. Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff and amazing food. We will be back and highly recommend. Thanks again

Quick and easy take away on way home

Bought lemon chicken and boiled rice but had to throw it away when I got home. The rice was hard and tasted ‘old’ like it was cooked yesterday. Half the chicken was ok but the rest had a strange taste and I didn’t want to risk food poisoning. There was also very little sauce. What a shame as I have visited this takeaway quite a few times over the years but I’m wondering if it’s changed hands? I phoned to let them know about the food and got no joy. Sadly I’ll not be driving the 20 mins to return and waste money on unpalatable food.

Delivery was fast but all the cheese comes of the pizza when you take a bite.

We love this hotel for the wonderful location & the bedrooms – we stay a few times a year and always book a beautiful deluxe sea view room. This review is for the Lawn restaurant which has recently changed to a new menu - the website invited us to “Savour the finest Italian cuisine with a menu that marries the flavours of Italy with quality Scottish produce” - we love Italian cuisine so were really looking forward to this! Sadly it was a big disappointment – very far from the ‘finest cuisine’ they promised! The focaccia bread brought to us was burnt to a crisp and emitting a scorched smell, it was swiftly replaced but not much improved! The starters of arancini and mussels were just ok, the main course of pizza was totally inedible – it was burnt on the edges, sloppy and greasy in the middle. The restaurant manager came to apologise and kindly offered anything else from the menu but by this time we were so discouraged and fed up we thought it safest to leave it there. Really hope this restaurant is much improved in time for our next visit! Perhaps a change in the menu….if perhaps Italian cuisine is not the kitchen or chef’s forte?

Worked away recently and tried here. Unreal food and service !! Ended up coming back twice it was so good!!

Couldn't fault our dinner with friends at Ducks. Friendly service, lovely atmosphere and incredible food. In particular I have to shout out the desert which featured a sea buckthorn sorbet - genius! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Great place, great food, great portions and the delivery time is a lot faster than other places in Prestonpans.

Visited last week for early breakfast with friends. Friendly service, terrific coffee and delicious poached eggs with avocado on toast. I haven’t bothered to write a review for anywhere before, but felt this was outstanding and wish more places could deliver the same experience !

My husbands favourite pitstop when travelling south of the border, he's very picky so they must be doing something right 🙂

Booked a table for my wife and i for lunch. I had the beef and ale pie and my wife had fish and chips both from the main lunch menu. A pint of Guinness and a Soda water and Lime. Meals were excellent and very fresh and tasty Would recommend.

Staff very nice one dish chicken combo was good but the dish to small for the amount of food not pleasant to the eye . Second dish was mix combo which chicken very nice but the steak was tuff and when u lifted the chicken tbe rest of the meal look like a nass of slopes dish was to small Drinks that was ordered never came to table at the same time Mangr ir owner needs to have a good read at the review and mske amends with all the complaints and tell his chef to make food more presentable on plates and bigger plates tgat looks good to the eye
