Exceptional chip shop in the centre of Gullane that also offers pizzas and kebabs. We had fish and chips on our first night, they were to die for. All freshly cooked to order and very well priced. We also had pizza and calzone on another visit Again all freshly made and served by very friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Top quality fish and chips, my favourite in East Lothian, can get busy and the waits can be a pain but always worth it in the end

Once again turned up to buy lunch and yet again closed. Advertised as open seven days a week, 12:11pm yet as per last week not open at 12pm. Please change or times online even if you can not change your literature.

Staff are very friendly. Great choice and tasty! Our go to when staying in Gullane. Always very clean too.

We were staying in a local hotel but ,as it was such a beautiful sunny evening, we decided rather than dining in the restaurant we would opt for fish and chips alfresco. What a good choice! Freshly cooked ,thick haddock fillets in light crispy batter and plenty of lovely chips to accompany them; so so good !

Additional charges put a sour taste in our mouths I ordered a 16 inch 4 station - qutro stagioni -pizza priced at just over 15 pounds - I asked for one side of the original toppings and the other side ham and mushroom - ordering the pizza this way put a charge of 2 extra toppings and the pizza was now £19 -friends i was with where not fully aware of this and when they found out where extremely angry . The fact that half the original toppings where not used - and we where charged for EXTRA toppings which in fact where REPLACEMENT toppings . I was not aware of any signage to the effect that replacement toppings would be charged as extra - I think £ 1.80 for each , just doesn't sit right .

A real shame, we live locally and have visited a few times, however will not be back again. Ordered fish, which was dry and over cooked. A chicken kebab which was large, but full of dry chicken. Onion rings with very little onion…..mostly batter! Very disappointed in the quality. Must do better!

Poor service for a 5 minute order, waited 20-25 minutes! Shame as usually good food but very disappointed when they didn’t even acknowledge their mistake. Too busy to be bothered.

I never write reviews but had to after yesterdays visit. I have had 4 previous visits over last year until now and have raved about this place as it didn't matter what time of day you visited the fish was always the same fantastic and so fresh and I've rated it against some really nice places including St Andrews/Fife where sitting in so takes some beating. After last night's visit I wont be back. Daughter and Granddaughter were sick from the jumbo haggis and the fish was pretty poor and definitely nowhere near as good as previous encounters. Fish batter was soggy and didn't taste anywhere near as good and the chips were rubbish compared to before. Most of the suppers went in bin. This is only chippy I ever buy from as find most chip shops really poor standard of fish cooked in their oils end up really soggy. Used to put up with the fairly long drive to taste the fish here but definitely wont be back. Why is it that these places cant stay consistent with their food as that's what keeps people coming back, so disappointing. 5 adults and 2 kids wont be back

Recently stayed at the Watchman Hotel in Gullane excellent hotel very clean and friendly staff. Breakfast Eddy’s Benedict best ever highly recommended

Very great food but very disappointed with the management and staff communication breakdown. I ordered a takeaway, the driver was short of change, he said I’d be reimbursed but then when I ordered tonight I was told tough!

Ordered online and the pizza looked fine. I bit into a piece and there was a bit animal bone in the mozzarella, and there were small pieces of ham I found in the pizza as well. When I phoned up the manager was rude and aggressive and refused to give me a refund on the food. I am extremely unhappy with the service I have received from them this evening.

The super fry is a great takeaway which is consistently good. We have had great food all through the pandemic from there and very few complaints. Fish is cooked to order or maybe ready for you if you arrive after 5 on a busy day. I have never had bad chips from here. Always golden brown and perfectly cooked. Fish also a good size. We especially like the new offering of lemon sole gujons which one of the young girls serving referred to as fish fingers! Kebabs and Pizzas are also consistently good. There is a lot of competition out there but I don’t think this place has to worry too much. We are returning customers and can’t fault the food.

We had fish n chips for a quick dinner on the go. Large portion sizes and one of the better fish suppers I've had. They are COVID aware asking you to wait outside while your order is prepared.

Totally independent , followed everybody’s view on TripAdvisor, really nice fish &chips try here better than North Berwick’s rubbish expensive and warm tasteless. 5miles and better all around.

I cant believe some of the reviews - Eaten from here numerous times, Its a really good chip shop. The locals are extremely snobbish, ridiculously so, and were unhappy a chip shop opened in their posh golf village - maybe that has something to do with it? My sister phoned up to request a order for delivery and orders the same thing every time and was told it was £50 which she was very confused as to it never comes to that price so we questioned it and then got someone else part of there team which was a male he was very rude we explained that we were told it was £50 which he then argued with us that she didn’t say that and told us it was then £30, which is a very dramatic difference in price absolutely appalled and will not be returning.

The smallest fish supper anywhere in the world with very rude staff and when my wife complained the staff and owner had a laugh.We gave also frequented the owners Italian Restaurant just along the road but all our friends and family will be hearing about this awful experience. Avoid this place.

Visiting the area and arrived late on a Friday night, weary from a busy working week. We then had the best haggis supper to kick start our weeks holiday. Busy place offering pizza, fish and chips and kebabs. We have had a few takeaways from here and they have all been very tasty. Staff are friendly, efficient and the place is spotlessly clean.

Have ordered several times from Gullane Super Fry. Always choose here, even though live in NB. The Turkish in NB is also decent, but SF just beats it. The pizzas are not massively better in quality to surrounding take aways, but they are better. The prices, & meal deal offers are also better esp as the quality of food is the best around. The Mon to Thurs meal deals are great. The best is - 2 x 10 inch pizza with 2 toppings, large chips and a bottle of juice for just £14.99. They have other great meal deals Mon to Thurs that are also great. Sadly unlike other take aways (not in the local area), but in other towns. They do not do meal deals like this apart from Mon to Thurs. I understand that Fri, Sat & Sun are busier, but it would be nice to see meal deals available 7 days a week. Also they used to do a buy one get one free Tuesdays on pizzas, this seems to have stopped. And if they were still doing this offer, we'll all I can say is I would be eating SF pizzas every Tues. Lastly none of the take aways from North Berwick for miles around are available to order on apps like JustEat, Hungry House, Scoffable etc. But... A new app called flip dish is available on Google Play, & I came across it when looking to order from Gullane Super fry online. I found that I could download the app (at first I thought I was /had downloaded a Gullane super fry app, but no. It turned out it was an app called flip dish, which is similar to JustEat etc. But Gullane SF was the only local takeaway to be able to order from on the app. So any way I looked to order from SF online, ended up installing Flip Dish. And every 10 deliverys you order here, you get a free meal. The only down side is the app could do with some work (I'm assuming it's the app, it could be SF menu on the app). But yeah the only down side is it is not always great to order exactly what you want from. For example ordering the £14.99 meal deal. We wanted to order one cheese and tomato pizza, one cheese and tomato with pepper and onion. But the only option was for both pizza to have 2 toppings. Could not order just one with no extra toppings. Also you used to be able to ask for salt or sauce or nothing on chips. That option was no longer there. As was there no option to ask for extra bbq sauce, which you usually could. Was not huge deal. Had bbq sauce in the houseAnd to be fair had a bit at the end to leave note for chef, so requested salt and sauce on chips. And possibly could have asked for bbq sauce there. So have to say the main reason for marking down from a 5* was the fact that even though food is great, & everything else positive in review. Have to say that they really need to improve on delivery time. Ordered a couple of times, was told were busy and would be 45 min tops. Had to phone back after an hour to see what was happening. Then on Tuesday night, which thought would be quite compared to the w end. Put in order was told would be 30-45 mins. After 1hr & 15 min phoned to see where order was, was told they were esp busy and ours was about to leave the shop. But was still at least another 30 minSo around 1hr 40 min. So apart from the fact they have stopped the 2 for one on Tuesday, that they only hav great meal deals through the week and delivered slowly recent times, along with cpl issues (minor issues ie adding sauces easily on app). Are the reason gave 4/5, not 5/5. But... Still Gullane super fry is the best Pizza place /chippy out of all pizza, chippys around Gullane and North Berwick. Beautiful pizza, and when ordering extra such as pakora, wow... Best chicken pakora ever. Huge pieces and massive portion Inc salad. The chips that came in meal deal were so tasty too. An extra bonus is when have had dealing with the staff - when spoke to staff on phone few times, it's been same, woman I think and could not have been more helpful or friendly. The Gullane SF shop staff definitely the friendliest take away staff have dealt with. The same goes for the cpl of guys have had doing deliveries, both are so friendly and down to earth. All that makes a difference. Will be sticking with the super fry for now def

Have ordered from here several times since they opened. Even though there are 2 chippies closer. One I wouldnt bother with, & one that even though is decent is expensive. And quality usually good, again varies regarding pricing and delivery times mainly. So... Started ordering from the super fry, when they started doing their 2 for 1 pizza deal on a Tuesday. Ordered several times on the Tuesday night getting a pizza each for the price of one, along with chicken pakora. All good, alough the toppings on the pizza were very small. For some reason the 2 for 1 starts then all off a sudden stops again. But they have meal deals lookin decent. But only available Mon to Thurs. So we went and ordered last week one of there meal deals. 2 x 10 in pizzas, with up too 2 toppings, a large bag of chips and bottle of juice for £15. Plus £2.50 delivery. But is around 6 miles away. Was told it would be 30-40 mins whick Inc 10 min delivery time is OK. And it was just over half an hour. But... The pizzas while nice. I had ordered with onions and peppers and was very few onions to spot, and very little peppers. And even with the delivery time, the pizzas could have been hotter. Was meant to come with large chips. Well the chips seemed far from large, more like less than a small bag, and not hot. Delivery driver was polite. And will give this a try again, but will be pointing out the lack of toppings the last time, that it was not too hot and the tiny bag off chips that was meant to me large. And see if it improves. Cos other visits have had great pizza and pakora if they are tiny with toppings. And the pizzas were good last time apart from hardly any toppings. Also asked for salt n sauce on the what was meant to be large chips. The sauce came not on the chips but in a pot, which to be fair stops them goin soggy. But.. It was one tiny pot, like the small pot of chilli sauce that comes with their pakora. I don't understand the lack of topping as when ordered pakora in the past, with only onion not rest of salad. It comes packed with onions. And have previously made up for the lack of onions and pepper on the pizza as topping with onions out of the pakora box. But obv only works when ordering pakora. Would def up the rating for the superfry and use a lot more if they - went back to doing there 2 for 1 even on Tuesdays all the time, & there pizzas had decent amount of toppings (those are things that have been commented on a lot I see). And also if they gave with meal deal exactly what they say. Ie 2 toppings decent amount, and large chips not a handful of chips each. And was a bit hotter

Never had service so quick, a very good understanding of ordering and packaging your order, in and out in minutes, we chose white pudding supper & steak pie supper, both excellent.

The Superfry is a superb chippy, catering for not only the traditional but also pizza, pasta and more. The home made lasagna is worth a taste. Service is always with a smile. Go and visit.

Do not usually have issues with this chip shop, totally taken eye of ball in respect of standards. Absolutely disgusting ,ordered 2 large chicken kebabs ,very, very small compared to previous kebabs, chicken dry, tasted of curry. Asked for a garlic dip and sent burnt garlic bread, the mushrooms in batter inedible full of greasy oil. Very dissapointing. Also staff member smoking outside shop, then not washing hands when going back to cooking.

I have used this chip shop lots of times when i.m in Gullane working once iv'e ordered what i won't i then go to the beach to eat my food because it has a really good view over the firth of forth across to Fife.

On a cold blustery Friday, the last of the school holidays and one we didnt want to flitter away at home so we went to the beach to see the rock pools, explore the cost line and enjoy the fresh air.

After deciding not to use a local restaurant we instead got take away food from here. Great menu choices and great value for money. Will be back

Stopped in after a walk on the beach for a treat for lunch. We had a fish supper and a hamburger supper. The fish was the best I have had in a very long time. Freshly prepared, piping hot, crispy thin batter and beautifully flaky fish. The chips were also first class. My other half enjoyed his hamburger but after seeing the fish wished he had chosen that. We sat in to eat and the restaurant is clean and tidy and the staff were really friendly. I would recommend this. Best chippy for miles.

I phoned to check that the 2 for 1 pizza offer was on. Confirmed by Superfry but no mention that this was not possible by online ordering. I sent in an order online then was called to check the time I wanted to collect it - again no mention that I was not getting the 2 for 1 offer.

This is an honest review having spent £19 for 3 people. The fish was sold as haddock but was flavourless and dry. The chips were also dry and cold. The staff oversold when we asked for 3 fish and a portion of chips we landed up with 3 fish suppers and the server knew what she was doing. A never again experience. Really in this day and age stop doing this to hard working people. The shop tries to do too much. Reduce the menu and improve the quality.

Stopped off at the small coop on the high street after a visit to archerfield, found this amazing chippie, good portion size, friendly staff and the chips hit the spot, what a great wee find after a day rambling around.

Hard and crunchy batter on the fish and soggy, underdone chips. All pretty inedible for two fish suppers costing over £13. Gullane isn't the place to find a chippy (though deep fried pizzas seemed popular with other 'diners') as it's all too gentile or at least it's faux-gentile. I somehow expected better although as I write this I am asking myself, why did I expect better. Never again. A place to avoid.

Placed order at 13:00 and only got the food at 13:20. There was only one person ahead in the queue. I am confident that cooking fish and chips is normally cooked in less time that this. Despite the wait however, the meal was tasty, and of course hot.

We had lunch here today. The place offers a lot of options. The owner is Italian. The fish and chips were large and well done. £30 for all three of us. Worth a visit.

Take the time to sit in and eat, the chips don't get soggy like they can sometimes when wrapped in paper. The quality of the fish is great. Not overly covered in batter like most city chippers. Very fresh. It's also a chipper that really can be a master of variation - it does fantastic chicken kebabs and some great pizza and pasta dishes. The queues in this place make the wait sometimes a tad frustrating but it's worth it, and speaks to the quality of what you're served. Staff are amazing. The family also own the Italian restaurant a few doors down and that is always fully booked. Not to be missed if you're on a trip to Gullane beach!

They offer pizza as well as the usual array found in a fish and chip shop, but with stuff such as deep fried Haggis and pizza amongst the choices! They also offer small portions which is brilliant if you have limited capacity.

Exactly as you would expect from a quality chip shop - fish and chips, sausage and chips etc. Well-cooked, reasonably priced, on-street parking. Only a few miles from the frenetic parking in North Berwick. Take away to eat on nearby links or beach or sit-in.

We always order take out. Breaded special fish and chips are the best that I have ever tasted from a chip shop. If you like chicken without skin ask for battered half chicken without the skin.. delicious. We have also tried the chicken kebabs and some of the pasta on offer. All items are large portions and very good value for money

As a family of 5 we had a good selection of items from this chip shop. Some of the stuff was good, such as the mixed kebab which was very tasty, others weren't so good such as the pizza which wasn't the best.The chips were decent enough but found the batter on the fish and black pudding lacking in crunch.Staff were friendly but took a while to get served.

I can't praise this place highly enough. The food is delicious! Always freshly prepared and piping hot. I got a delivery last night and though it took a while to come it was well worth waiting for. I was also impressed with the boxes and sturdy paper sack it arrived in. So much better than paper and a plastic bag. The portions are HUGE compared to most other chippies. Took my golf buddies (very English) here after a round at Gullane GC as they've never experienced a decent Scottish chippy before. Ate in at one of the tables and just had fish suppers all round. Superb fresh fish and chips. Does pizzas too. Lovely.

We had previously ordered mixed kebabs from there, a delicious variety of beautifully marinated and cooked lamb, chicken and donner meat, with a tasty sauce, quite different to the usual chilli and garlic.My husband returned, laden with a huge bag and the confession that he must have got something wrong as it came to £35.00 for two. We opened the bag and gaped at the feast before us, there was easily enough for 6. Two square tinfoil trays stuffed with meat and onions, pitta breads and several portions of chips and onion rings, everything was delicious, but even with the assistance of three dogs we barely put a dent in it. Undaunted we put it in the fridge and reheated it the following day. We intended to order the special mixed meat kebab, but my husband thinks he ordered the SUPER Special- it certainly was, but next time we will get one between two.The staff are friendly and helpful, everything is immaculately clean and the food is delicious, there is an extensive menu and a delivery service.

Always fresh and tasty fish and chips. They also do just about everything you could ask for in a takeaway, pizza, kebabs etc etc. Always busy in the summer months especially so you may have to wait for ten minutes or so but it's worth the wait.

Have visited several times and found great service and value for money. Apart from the excellent freshly cooked fish they also do freshly cooked pasta dishes. A nice touch is that if you order a single battered fish, you get a small portion of chips included.

Love getting takeaways from here. There kebab meat is the best I've ever tasted. Their pizzas are fantastic as is their fish and chips. But they do have a great menu to choose from so there's something for everyone, even pasta!! The staff are always very friendly. There are about three tables inside the shop so you can sit in too. It has good disabled access as well. If you are ever passing and not yet tried this place I'd go out my way to come try it out!! Keep up the great work guys

My husband wanted fish and chips so we walked into this place. i did not want to sit and wait inside as it seemed to be busy with a few customers waiting so went for a walk up the street with our baby to the small Coop shop. when i returned back around 10mins later my husband was still waiting for his meal although the other customers had gone. i sat and waited another 5-7mins then our baby started crying. asked one of the stuff (there were four or five of them and only 2 seemed to be busy) about when it'd be ready the answer was along the lines ' yes its being cooked'. when it finally arrived, my husband grabbed it and headed towards the door while i stayed on to ask for napkins which as i noticed they hadn't put in the bag with the fish. the brunette girl gave me just 1 napkin, i asked for more. now, the conversation went this way - me (quiet) 'can i have more napkins?'. she (in a very loud tone) PLEASE. as a foreigner outside of the EU i do not know all the nuances of the English language and did not mean to be rude to her however, she sounded very rude to me. that was the first time i was being treated so rudely in a takeaway shop, especially with a small baby in my arms - well, to be honest, we rarely visit takeaways these days. i was upset. all i wanted was to leave soon and they did not apologise for the long wait.Never back there again. the fish my husband had was dry probably frozen and the chips looked overcooked.we were there on a Saturday at the end of August at around 5pm.

Staying nearby at Yellowcraig we were advised to seek Fish and Chips at Gullane.The shop is immaculately clean, the staff are friendly and efficient. There is a very extensive menu including the usual fried offerings, pizza and pasta, baked potatoes, and a selection of kebabs.We ordered fish and chips, they were excellent, crisp, hot beautiful flaky fish and crispy chips.They were beautifully wrapped with a sheet of plastic on top of the fish to stop the batter sticking or going soggy- works perfectly. They were absolutely lovely So good we returned on another occasion for kebabs. Special mixed meat kebabs, lamb, chicken and donner kebab meat in a pitta with salad and two sauces. Gorgeous.Excellent food, cooked to order.
