The best restaurants in North Berwick Coastal East Lothian Edinburgh and Lothian

I booked a table for lunch for 3 people on Saturday 29th March for 1.30 pm. We had a drink at the bar and ordered our lunch. It took an too long to come to our table. We all ordered the same beef and Yorkshire pudding for our main course. The meat was so tough we all had difficulty cutting it or eating it and it came look warm. The Yorkshire pudding was slightly war, dry, not nice. For a Chez Roux restaurant our lunch was very disappointing We did get an apology and our meal was deducted from our bill. We left still hungry. Not what we expected or wanted. Service was extremely slow and no one came and asked if everything was satisfactory. It was a special treat for my son who had come flown up from London and to be with us on Mothering Sunday. All very disappointing. We got married in the hotel and have very happy memories. Such a shame. Not up to the standard we expected. Such a shame. We did get reimbursed for our main course but that doesn`t come near our expectations. Such a shame.

Stopped for lunch and enjoyed a wonderful minestrone soup. Deli is in the front and a small cafe in the back. Very friendly staff, very relaxing and reasonable prices. Definitely worth a visit.

Thoroughly enjoyed an excellent lunch at the Open Arms. We were seated in the library which was very nice. Varied choice on the menu of Scottish fair. Food was well presented and delicious. The staff were very polite and friendly. It is a very traditional and homely place and a bit different for a special occasion.

This restaurant has been a family favourite for years. The food is always excellent and the venue and the staff are fantastic.

Superb afternoon tea Had a lovely walk around the stunning garden and we enjoyed our delicious sandwiches and selections of sweet delicatessen.Our granddaughter enjoyed her selection of vegan sandwiches and sweets .

Lovely cafe at the rear of the gift shop. Super friendly staff and the best scones in East Lothian. The gift shop is also well worth a visit.

A real pizza treat - especially for those on on a gluten free diet. Terrific GF crispy pizza base and a good selection of interesting GF toppings available.

Had lunch for 5 here the other day , everyone was happy with the food , good sized portions and good value as well . Staff friendly and efficient. Will be coming back soon

This place is the best in North Berwick, I recommend it for its quality and price, family atmosphere and its own family understands it. I am always happy with its service, 100% perfect.

Was in the area and fancied fish and chips, very tasty, nice crispy batter on the fish and chips were lovely. Salt and vinegar and broon sauce, yummy. Very friendly and polite service.

I arrived here wet and tired. I had a lot of luggage. Biata, the manager was so kind. She stored my luggage for me till I could get into my hotel, and she also printed off all my flight info! So unbelievably kind! The other staff were so lovely too. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was lovely with beautiful art all around. I highly recommend a visit!

Had a great catch up with my friend here on Monday. The place is beautiful and piano playing music is really relaxing. The food was so nice. If you’ve not been here I’d advise you give it a try for sure. It will not disappoint. The staff are just the best and add to the ambience of the place. Disabled access and toilets were great so no reason not to come along. Can’t wait to come back here again. Keep up the excellent job.

Fantastic yet again . Spaghetti pil-pil and penne arrabbiata , with a focaccia zitto side . Delicious. Cooked to perfection and complimented by a lovely wine. Ambience, music and staff were all great . Highly recommended.

For the relatively high prices charged we would have expected decent cuisine. Instead the dishes looked as if they were thrown together. Linguine floating in a tasteless sauce with a few bits bits of dried chicken.. Red Thai curry …..dried chicken, very little watery curry sauce at the foot of plate. No offer of chutney. We have eaten here a number of times but will certainly not be back. Something has gone seriously wrong in the kitchen

Very disappointing service, forgot or made errors with 2/3rds of our order after a wait of almost an hour. Then tried to charge a full service charge and were annoyed when we refused to pay this. Astonished this is rated a 5 star hotel What food was delivered was of a high standard
