The best restaurants in North Berwick Coastal East Lothian Edinburgh and Lothian

Found this amazing little cafe on the high street in North Berwick, it has a nice varied menu and the prices are very reasonable. The staff were amazing, very friendly and chatty and I rather like that. Went for the toastie and pot of tea, my partner got the soup and sandwich offer. The soup was homemade and tasted just like the soup your Grannie made. The sandwich fillings were very generous, fresh and very tasty. We never felt rushed while eating like some places, and when we needed to use the toilets before leaving I found them to be immaculate and extremely well maintained. I’m one of those people who goes by the state of the facilities and this showed just how good the cafe is. Passing by the kitchen, it was the same. Very clean and very well maintained. If you are going to North Berwick for the day or even just passing please don’t miss popping in here. They offer takeaway too so there isn’t an excuse for not visiting. Schottische Tradition pur! Der Aperitif im Garten mit hervorragendem Blick auf die wunderbar gepflegten Blumenkompositionen. Dann ein 3 Gangmenü was absolut super angerichtet und geschmacklich ausgezeichnet war! Sehr gut und das zu einem fairen Preis!

Got a lovely warm welcome on a cold and wet day, my wife and I ordered tea and freshly baked fruit scones. Service was great and staff were friendly. Will definitely be returning the next time we are in the area.

For the relatively high prices charged we would have expected decent cuisine. Instead the dishes looked as if they were thrown together. Linguine floating in a tasteless sauce with a few bits bits of dried chicken.. Red Thai curry …..dried chicken, very little watery curry sauce at the foot of plate. No offer of chutney. We have eaten here a number of times but will certainly not be back. Something has gone seriously wrong in the kitchen

Came across this little cafe while stopping after a work meeting and so glad we did! Such great value for a large roll with filling of choice and was enchanted to be served tea in a real China teacup and saucer! Friendly service too thank you will definitely return when in the area!

I arrived here wet and tired. I had a lot of luggage. Biata, the manager was so kind. She stored my luggage for me till I could get into my hotel, and she also printed off all my flight info! So unbelievably kind! The other staff were so lovely too. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was lovely with beautiful art all around. I highly recommend a visit!

Thoroughly enjoyed an excellent lunch at the Open Arms. We were seated in the library which was very nice. Varied choice on the menu of Scottish fair. Food was well presented and delicious. The staff were very polite and friendly. It is a very traditional and homely place and a bit different for a special occasion.

This restaurant has been a family favourite for years. The food is always excellent and the venue and the staff are fantastic.

Superb afternoon tea Had a lovely walk around the stunning garden and we enjoyed our delicious sandwiches and selections of sweet delicatessen.Our granddaughter enjoyed her selection of vegan sandwiches and sweets .

Das Restaurant liegt direkt im The Mallard Hotel. Sehr freundliche Gastgeber und eine gute Auswahl an Speisen und Weinen rundeten den Abend ab. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Lovely cafe at the rear of the gift shop. Super friendly staff and the best scones in East Lothian. The gift shop is also well worth a visit.

Love their food! Pollo Fritto is woo la la!! Service staff is great! Friendly and attentive.

We had a super dining experience in The Marine Hotel, enjoying afternoon tea in The Lawn restaurant. We enjoyed 3 tiers of delicious savoury treats, scones and cakes, far more than we could eat! There was a friendly greating from staff on arrival and the young waiters were very attentive. The spacious and nicely decorated restaurant itself enjoys magnificent panoramic views to the Bass Rock and across the Firth of Forth. Most definitely worth a visit for the great food, nice staff in relaxed surroundings.
