The best restaurants serving British food in North Berwick Coastal East Lothian Edinburgh and Lothian

Evening started really well told we had table till 7.30 but then they apologised we had to move got their times wrong. Ended up in the conservatory with no atmosphere or heating or guests so was about to leave when the lovely lady from the bar came to see if we would like another drink. We explained that we weren’t happy and was going to leave, she was so lovely and apologetic and went to see if there was a spare table in the bar and she found use one. Our evening ended up being a really enjoyable one with 2 more rounds of drinks and a fabulous cheese board.

Pretty disappointing dinner here. Came and ordered two steak baguettes, each costing almost £20. They came covered in a caremelised onion chutney and so much melted cheese and yet, were still so bland. Bad bread, bad steak, bad cheese. It came with a watery chimichurri sauce for dipping, which didn't really feel thought through with the rest of the dish. Won't be back.

Lovely food and scones were a treat. It was a bit of a squeeze as one of our party was in a wheelchair but the staff were very helpful moving tables around to make room.

After a very disappointing visit to the Ship we walked along to here. We only had enough time for one drink before we had to go for our train. The difference between the Ship and here was night and day. Staff friendly and helpful and actually behind the bar. Unlike the Ship. Tables cleared immediately unlike the Ship. Customers were welcoming and full of information about the best places to go in town. Plus cheaper than the aforementioned. Highly recommended.

nice spot in town centre for a quick bite to eat and lovely coffee. i got the vegan toastie which was served with coleslaw and it wasn’t until i asked if it was vegan that i learned it wasn’t vegan. ideally i would be told this when i was ordering so i could ask to not have it, so just a heads up for anyone with a dairy allergy make sure to say !

Oh dear what has happened?! Although it has always been expensive you didn’t mind as much as service was always great and had a buzz. Sadly it’s died a death no atmosphere. Wine came before water very very poor.

Super Sunday lunch, and a vibrant place. Efficient staff, dog friendly- shows how it can be done. Excellent food, and not too expensive.
